O objetivo deste estudo foi compreender a percepção dos adolescentes da periferia sobre saúde bucal e identificar quais as atitudes, espaços e comportamentos desse grupo etário. Desenvolveu-se uma pesquisa qualitativa com 44 adolescentes de 12 a 17 anos de idade de duas escolas da periferia de Araçatuba/SP. A coleta de dados foi feita por meio de entrevistas semi-estruturada, utilizando um roteiro de perguntas abrangendo enfoque social, afetivo e cognitivo. As entrevistas foram gravadas e posteriormente transcritas fielmente para análise dos dados. Esta foi realizada utilizando a metodologia do Discurso do Sujeito Coletivo. Observou-se nos discursos que as atividades de lazer mais referidas foram a prática de esporte ou ficar em casa; os adolescentes consideram a escola um local para promoção de saúde, a estética tem grande importância nessa faixa etária; aliam ter dentes bons ao convívio social - namorar, trabalhar; ter saúde bucal resume-se a ter higiene e dentes limpos. O relato dos entrevistados mostra necessidade de desenvolver atividades onde possam participar ativamente, respeitando suas peculiaridades. / Teenage deserves special attention from the family, the school and from the health services because of the peculiarities that turn this phase of life special. The aim of this study was to understand how teenagers from low-income families view oral health and to identify the environment, attitudes and behaviors of this age group. A qualitative survey was carried out with 44 teenagers between 12 and 17 years of age from two public schools in the outskirts of Araçatuba,SP, Brazil. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews, using a list of questions involving the social, affective and cognitive points-of-view. The interviews were taped and later faithfully transcribed for the analysis of the data, which was carried out using the Collective Subject Discourse method. The discourses showed that the leisure activities most mentioned were practicing sports or staying at home; the teenagers consider the school as a place to promote health; esthetics is greatly valued by this age group; they associate good teeth with social life - dating, working; in their view oral health only means hygiene and clean teeth. The report of the interviewees shows a need for the development of activities in which they can participate actively, taking the peculiarities of the age group into consideration.

SaÃde bucal em crianÃas com idade Ãndice de cinco anos pertencentes a famÃlias em situaÃÃo de pobreza beneficiadas pelo Programa Bolsa FamÃlia / Oral health in children of five years old of families in poverty situation who are benefited with the Bolsa FamÃlia Program

nÃo hà / A cÃrie dentÃria à associada Ãs marcantes desigualdades, desde as sociodemogrÃficas e geogrÃficas atà aquelas de acesso aos bens e serviÃos relacionados à saÃde. O objetivo deste estudo foi identificar o perfil epidemiolÃgico da cÃrie em crianÃas de cinco anos que vivem em famÃlias beneficiadas pelo Programa Bolsa FamÃlia e intervir por meio da educaÃÃo em saÃde para o autocuidado, com vistas a prevenir a cÃrie e tratÃ-la, se necessÃrio. A pesquisa-aÃÃo, nesse contexto de estudo, se constituiu no mÃtodo que orientou a elaboraÃÃo dos diagnÃsticos, identificaÃÃo de problemas e busca de soluÃÃo. Participaram do estudo 29 famÃlias com 32 crianÃas. Foram realizados a coleta de dados, mediante entrevistas; o exame clÃnico das crianÃas para a verificaÃÃo do perfil epidemiolÃgico da cÃrie dentÃria e as necessidades de tratamento; a evidenciaÃÃo da placa bacteriana para verificaÃÃo do IHOS; escovaÃÃo dental supervisionada e tratamento clÃnico. Essas atividades foram permeadas por processos de EducaÃÃo em SaÃde. Os resultados apontam que a renda mensal das famÃlias à de atà um salÃrio-mÃnimo em 28 (97%) famÃlias estudadas. A escolaridade prevalente à o ensino fundamental incompleto para (15) 52% das mÃes e (13) 45% dos pais. A mÃe à a pessoa responsÃvel por levar a crianÃa à unidade de saÃde em 26 (90%) famÃlias, bem como por orientar as 28 (88%) crianÃas em relaÃÃo aos hÃbitos de higiene oral. Percebe-se, assim, a importÃncia de a equipe de saÃde bucal dedicar um tempo a orientaÃÃo e motivaÃÃo das mÃes e das crianÃas para o autocuidado e das mÃes para o cuidado com os filhos, podendo refletir na melhora na qualidade da saÃde da famÃlia. Quanto à presenÃa de cÃrie, 12 crianÃas nÃo apresentaram cÃrie, trÃs exibiram mancha branca de cÃrie e 17 registraram cavidade de cÃrie. Destas, 11 (64.7%) tinham mÃe que nÃo estudou e/ou estudou menos do que o ensino fundamental completo. Quanto a qualidade da higiene oral, das 32 (100%) crianÃas estudadas, sete (21.9%) expressaram higiene oral satisfatÃria, 15 (46.9%) apresentaram higiene oral regular e de 10 (31.2%) crianÃas indicaram higiene oral deficiente ou ruim. Este estudo foi interessante pelo reforÃo do acesso das famÃlias beneficiÃrias do Programa Bolsa FamÃlia aos serviÃos de saÃde bucal e EducaÃÃo em SaÃde. / Dental caries is associated with many inequalities, which are social, geographic and the ones related to the access to health services. The aim of this study was to identify the epidemiology of caries in children of five years old of families who are benefited with the Bolsa FamÃlia Program and intervene through teaching self-care, aiming to prevent decay and treat it if necessary. This research has become the method that guided the development of diagnostics, identifying problems and seeking solutions. The study included 29 families with 32 children. Data collection was conducted through interviews; clinical examination of the children to observe the epidemiological profile of dental caries and treatment needs; demonstration of plaque to check IHOS; supervised tooth brushing and clinical treatment. These activities were accompanied by tactics of Health Education. Results show that the monthly household income is up to one minimum wage in 28 (97%) of the families studied. The education that prevails is incomplete elementary school to (15) of the mothers and 52% (13) 45% of the fathers. The mother is the person responsible for bringing the child to the health facility in 26 (90%) of the families and for teaching the 28 (88%) children about oral hygiene habits. Thus, one realizes the importance of the oral health team to devote time to the guidance and motivation of mothers and children in self-care. About the presence of dental caries, 12 children had decay, three had white spot caries and 17 had cavity decay. About those children, 11 (64.7%) had a mother who did not study or did not complete primary education. Related to the quality of oral hygiene of the 32 (100%) children studied, seven (21.9%) had satisfactory oral hygiene, 15 (46.9%) had regular oral hygiene and 10 (31.2%) children had poor or unsatisfactory oral hygiene. This interesting study was to increase access to oral health care and health education of the families who receive the Bolsa FamÃlia Program services.
