This diploma thesis examines the impact of nutrition as a vital variable for human health and analyses risk factors involved in unhealthy diet. When incorporated into framework of general principals and broader social context, it is focused on an age group of adults. The thesis is divided into theoretical and practical part. The theoretical part outlines the term nutrition, describes functions of different components of nutrition and energy balance in organism. Furthermore, the theoretical part deals with methods of assessment of nutritional status, description of diet recommendations and evaluation of risks to the health, which can be caused by diet. The practical segment focuses on establishment of dietary habits and spread of knowledge about benefits of healthy and costs of unhealthy nutrition among students attending selected school in Čelákovice. By the use of survey then followed by comparison of surveyed data, this thesis finds insufficient degree of dietary knowledge amongst students of all three fields of study - Graduate pharmaceutical assistant, Graduate social worker and Pre-school and After-school Education. Gender Matters : Differences and change in disability and health among our oldest women and men

This thesis investigates gender differences in health and how they have changed between 1992 and 2002 among very old people. It explores gender differences in the association between disability and health, and gender differences in care utilization among our oldest old people. The studies are based on nationally representative data of the population in Sweden aged 77 and older (SWEOLD).  Results from Study I showed that women generally had more health problems than men. Analyses of change between 1992 and 2002 showed increased prevalence rates for both sexes, especially women. However, women’s reporting of poor global self-rated health did not increase. There were no gender differences and there was no change over time in activities of daily living (ADL). Several health indicators seem to be developing differently for women and men.  Study II showed that associations between ADL disability and other health indicators changed between 1992 and 2002, with several health problems and functional limitations becoming less disabling over time. This trend was especially true for women, while for men, the findings were mixed.  Study III found no gender differences in physician visits and dental visits, despite women’s worse health and dental status. Marriage was associated with more physician visits for men and dentist visits for women. Results imply that women and unmarried older adults may have unmet health-care needs.  Study IV examined whether the increase in life expectancy at age 65 observed between 1992 and 2002 consisted of years with or without musculoskeletal pain. Results showed that total years without pain decreased for both women and men, but more so for women. Women also had more years with pain added to life.  The results of this thesis suggest an increase of health problems, but not disability, in the oldest Swedish population. However, gender variations in the findings highlight the importance of analyzing health trends separately for women and men. / At the time of the doctoral defense, the following papers were unpublished and had a status as follows: Paper 2: In press. Vědomostní úroveň o problematice zdravímu studentů, adolescentů na školách technického zaměření / The level of knowledge about health issues for students at the secondary technical school

This master thesis deals with finding level of knowledge about healthy lifestyle and evaluating eating habits among adolescent boys studying at technical colleges. The work consists of two main parts, the theoretical and the research (practical). The theoretical part is focused on defining the major concepts and characteristics of adolescence, the teaching health education at secondary schools and recommendations in terms of movement and supplements to adolescent age. The research part focuses on the evaluation of knowledge regarding the health and eating habits of the above sample. The results were compared with those already available findings from previous studies. It was managed to collect 134 completed tests of knowledge regarding to health and physical activity and their associated questionnaires about dietary habits. Based on the results of the knowledge test, it was found that the average results reached zone below average. Furthermore, on the basis of evaluation of research assumptions, it was found that higher health knowledge does not affect the optimal body weight. Education in the field of eating disorders is probably insufficient. As apparent from certain results, health education should always find its place in the curriculum so that pupils receive a sufficient amount of information to be encouraging to find another informations by themselves on their own initiative.

Another, no less important objective was to compare the main concepts of Ellen Whites health and lifestyle with some contemporary scientific and academic concerns. To this end , this paper shows how the list of eight natural remedies proposed by White summarize the ideal of a healthy lifestyle still practiced by millions of Adventists, 100 years after the death of his Prophesy : clean air, water, adequate food, sunlight , physical exercise, rest , abstinence, and trust in God . Whites counsel were contrasted with cultural practices that relate religion and health , leading to the conclusion that the Adventist culture has proven to be the most appropriate in safeguarding health. This is because White presented a synthesis of elements of Jewish, Christian and Western culture. In this sense, its guidelines guarantee you a privileged place in the movement for health care reform in the United States that occurred in that country in the second half of the nineteenth century. Many of their boards are currently being put into practice by all those who care about the health, longevity, and fitness lifestyle with rules inspired by nature and a healthy spirituality. / O objetivo principal da pesquisa encetada foi o de ressaltar a importância do discurso de Ellen White, uma importante líder religiosa do século XIX, nos Estados Unidos da América, para a formação de um estilo e prática de vida, que ainda hoje caracteriza os adventistas do sétimo dia no que se refere a saúde. Outro, não menos importante objetivo, foi o de comparar os principais conceitos de Ellen White sobre saúde e estilo de vida com algumas preocupações científicas e acadêmicas contemporâneas. Para isso, este trabalho mostra como a lista de oito remédios naturais propostos por White sumarizam o ideal de uma vida saudável ainda praticada por milhões de adventistas, 100 anos após a morte de sua Profetiza: ar puro, água, alimentação adequada, luz solar, exercícios físicos, repouso, abstinência, e confiança em Deus. Os conselhos de White foram contrastados com várias práticas culturais que relacionam religião e saúde, levando-nos à conclusão que a cultura adventista tem se mostrado como a mais adequada na salvaguarda da saúde. Isto porque White apresentou uma síntese de elementos da cultura judaica, cristã e ocidental. Nesse sentido, as suas orientações garantem-lhe um lugar privilegiado no movimento de reforma da saúde nos Estados Unidos que ocorreu naquele País na segunda metade do século XIX. Muitos de seus conselhos estão sendo atualmente colocados em prática por todos aqueles que se preocupam com a saúde, longevidade, e a adequação do estilo de vida com as regras inspiradas na natureza e numa espiritualidade sadia.

El presente proyecto presenta una alternativa de negocio que tiene como propósito contribuir con la alimentación saludable, de modo que busca satisfacer la necesidad que existe hoy en día en las mujeres, de llevar un estilo de vida saludable, pero que se sienten imposibilitadas de hacerlo por la falta de tiempo disponible debido a la vida agitada que llevan. Es por ello, que se propone implementar un modelo de negocio llamado Lunch Healthy, que se diferencia de otros negocios similares, por la calidad y frescura de los insumos que utiliza para la preparación de platos, la rapidez en el servicio y sobre todo por la información nutricional que incluye en su pedido. Para ello, se desarrolló la investigación y validación de mercado en el cual se identificó el problema y su posible solución, los cuales fueron validados y comprobados a través de herramientas como entrevistas y desarrollo de PMV (producto mínimo viable), los cuales nos permitieron continuar con el proyecto. Asimismo, se realizó el plan de marketing, plan de operaciones y la estructura organizacional de la empresa para un periodo de 5 años, en el cual se detalla todos los aspectos técnicos y organizativos que involucran el proceso de implementación del presente proyecto. Finalmente se realizó el plan económico financiero, el cual demostró a través de indicadores financieros la viabilidad del proyecto, por lo tanto, se llegó a la conclusión de que el presente modelo de negocio es rentable. / This project presents a business alternative that aims to contribute to healthy eating, so that it seeks to satisfy the need that exists today in women, to carry out a healthy lifestyle, but which is impossible to do so for the lack of time available due to the hectic life they lead. This diploma thesis deals with comparing the level of physical growth and basic motor skills of preschool children, their motion mode and the conditions for movement activities in two kindergartens located in different municipalities (in a city and in a town). The aim of the study was to determine the level of growth and motor performance of preschool children in relation to the motion mode at their residence. The study included 116 children aged 4-6. The level of physical growth was assessed by measuring somatic characteristics of children (height, weight, BMI). The data extracted from the study were compared to percentile charts. The level of motor performance was assessed by sensory tests. In the case of basic motor skills there was chosen 20 ms run with standing start for the testing of speed capability, for the evaluation of explosive strength abilities was selected jump from the spot with two legs reflection, the testing of explosive strength of the upper limbs was exercised by a ball throw by both right and left hand. At the same time, these tests show the level of motor performance of preschool children. Topic of my thesis covers the analysis of programmes, related to primary prevention within the Liberec region. Theoretical part of my thesis comprises the identification of basic terms that are related to the development of socio-pathological phenomena and risk behaviour of children and youth. Furthermore, the thesis depicts the prevention system, which is focused on primary prevention of the risk behaviour. An important part of the thesis is the primary prevention as a part of the upbringing process. The theoretical part of my thesis ends with a chapter that is dealing with the community planning process of villages. By means of an empiric investigation, practical part of the thesis analyses the situation within the primary prevention at elementary schools, information on the number of providers and programmes for primary prevention are investigated in the thesis as well. Another important output lies within the needs and attitudes of the villages in the given region.

Regional Differences in Healthy Life Expectancy in Czechia Abstract Over the past decade, the health status of the population has also been measured by Healthy Life Expectancy indicator. This indicator covers not only the quantitative aspect, but it takes into the account also the qualitative aspect of prolonging human life. The main objective of this thesis is to evaluate the differences in healthy life expectancy among the regions of Czechia, both in terms of space and time (2009-2014). The introductory part of the thesis outlines the connections of the origin of the healthy life expectancy indicator and analyses the methods of its construction. The theoretical part of the thesis also includes description of sample surveys. To calculate healthy life years, the Sullivan method is used. Data on health status were obtained from the SILC survey. According to the results of the analysis, there is considerable variability between regions in terms of healthy life expectancy. The difference is significantly higher in terms of healthy life expectancy than in the case of life expectancy.
