Hispania Tarraconensis tributim discripta / Hispania Tarraconensis Tributim Discripta

FASOLINI, DONATO 10 April 2008 (has links)
The present work, entitled Hispania Tarraconensis tributim discripta, following W. Kubitschek's Imperium Romanum tributim discriptum, Prague 1888, and R. Wiegels' Die Tribusinschriften des römischen Hispanien. Ein Katalog, Berlin 1985, and updating the latter according to the ample documentation emerged so far since the days of its publication, intends to analyse the tribal ascription in the province Tarraconensis, from August, who organised the Iberian province, until the end of the II century. The test of the tribal ascription has permitted a study of the populations distribution in the territorial tribe after the acquisition of the civitas, so detecting the criteria implied in the process of progressive rationalization of the provincial administration. The analysis has been conducted mainly with the epigraphic sources which, given their nature, supply with accurate historical information regarding a certain and defined historical era, and the more recent and equally important acquisitions. This methodology has been integrated with the contribution of the other available sources: literary, archaeological and numismatic.

De episcopis Hispaniarum : agents of continuity in the long fifth century

Zuk, Fabian 08 1900 (has links)
In Anno Domini 408, Spain, despite its peninsular location at the ends of Europe, was part of a pan-Mediterranean culture which spread from Portugal to Syria. Christianity had been adopted a mere 28 years prior and the Catholic Church was growing across the Roman world. The following year, Spain entered on a course of irreversible transformation as pagan Germanic speaking 'barbarians' crossed the Pyrenees bringing war and strife to the Hispano-Romans and establishing new kingdoms where the Roman state had once governed. In the turmoil of the fifth century, Catholic bishops laboured to assert their dominance over their communities and over the hearts of their flock. In light of advances in archaeology and quality critical editions of the literary sources, the time has come to identify the traits of the Iberian bishops with attention to regional variation. This thesis characterises the bishops of Spain and Portugal and demonstrates the challenges they faced as intermediaries between natives and newcomers, as proselytizers of pagans, persecutors of heretics and retainers of romanitas at the end of the Antique world.

As thermae e balnea nas hispaniae romanae II a.C. - III d.C. / The Thermae and Balnea in Hispaniae Romanae IIB.C. - III A.D.

Almeida, Alex dos Santos 26 March 2015 (has links)
The research aims to study the architecture, materials and the construction techniques of Roman baths, known by the Latin terms Thermae and Balnea, in their urban areas in the three provinces of the Iberian Peninsula - Hispania Tarraconensis, Hispania Baetica and Hispania Lusitania. To this end, we rely on the theoretical-methodological assumptions of the Archaeology of Construction and the Archaeology of the Built Environment. In addition to the architectural-construction aspects, we focus on the thermal heating technology in its various structural facilities; Roman heating technology which is known in archaeological literature by the Latin term hypocaustum. Also, we address sociocultural aspects associated with baths such as the practice of evergestism by members of the elite and the romanization as a factor of cultural change. Next, we present a summary about the development of urbanism and the insertion of the baths in the cities. Finally, we analyze the typology and terminology issues regarding baths.

Identidades políticas e políticas identitárias na Gália Merovíngia e Hispânia Visigoda / Political identities and identities politics in Merovingian Gaul and Visigothic Hispania

Silveira, Verônica da Costa 28 May 2015 (has links)
The research is a comparative study about the construction of identities as political strategies in the context of political polarization of Merovingian Gaul and Visigothic Hispania. Working with the analysis of diverse narrative genres as Historiae, Laws and Hagiographies the inquiry aims to indicate the deliberate plurality of the identity discourses in the Gens Francorum and the Gens Gothorum due to the complexity and diversity of political issues.
