Att formas av två nationaliteter : En kvalitativ studie om identitetsskapandet bland individer med dubbelt medborgarskap / To be shaped by different nationalities : A qualitative study of identity formation among individuals with dual citizenship

Kremska, Emilia January 2017 (has links)
Migration over national boarders is common in today’s globalized world. As a result the number of individuals with connections to more than one nation are increasing. But how do they identify themselves? Ambition of this study was to explore how individuals with dual citizenship identify themselves and whether others identification of them has an effect on their own identification. This study had a qualitative approach and used semi- structured interviews to collect experiences from five individuals with dual citizenship.   This study contains theories of identity based on social constructivism, social identity, national identity, orientation, as well as key notions such as migration, citizenship and dual citizenship. Those are the theories used in the analysis of the empirical material.   The conclusion reveals that all of the informants identify themselves with both their nations, which demonstrates their hyphen identities. Differences in identifications are presented by three identities; the first is Transnational Identity, where the individual's identification is influenced by all nations, even though there is no longer any connection with the nations. The second is Hierarchical hybrid, where the individuals identify themselves with one nation more than the other. The last identity is Parallel affiliation, where individuals identify themselves equally with both nations while experiencing emotional attachment to both. Furthermore, the conclusion shows that individuals’ identification isn´t predominantly influenced by others perception of them.

The Political Ecology of Green Hydrogen from the global South : An analysis along the socioecological fix framework / Den gröna vätgasens politiska ekologi sett från det globala syd

Rischer, Maximilian January 2023 (has links)
Infrastructural projects to realize the energy transition are framed by governmentsfrom all around the world very positively. This is also the case for green hydrogen, which is considered as a silver bullet to solve multiple crises simultaneously. ThisMaster thesis explores the drivers behind the ramp-up of the hydrogen economy inthe global South and elaborates on socio-economic and ecological implications ofgreen hydrogen production projects to analyse the truthfulness of the positivenarratives of the benefits of green hydrogen. To accomplish this, an internationalgreen hydrogen project led by the German-British company Hyphen and planned tobe established in Namibia, was used as an emblematic case study. Following the framework of the socioecological fix, the findings strongly indicatethat green hydrogen does not significantly contribute in solving the climate crisis andsocial problems. Contrarily, strongly influenced by domestic and internationalpolitics, the project in Namibia seems to primarily fix the crisis of capitalism, which isthe overaccumulation of capital that requires new ways of circulation to makecapitalism renew itself. By commodifying and integrating natural resources in globalvalue chains, the Namibian society is disadvantaged, and few actors, primarily fromabroad, profit. Similarly, the finance approach of the project pushes Namibia intopotential financial dependencies. Besides that, the legacy from German colonialismand South African occupation before liberation is manifested in where and how theinfrastructure of hydrogen production is envisioned and planned. There is a risk thatthe hegemonies of elite social classes sustain their position and that social inequalitiesmight be reinforced through a project heralded as benefitting the whole nation. By assessing the political ecology of green hydrogen, I contribute to a critical researchagenda, that considers global inequalities, colonial histories, and ideologies. This willhopefully help to build a foundation for a truly decolonial and just energy transition, all around the world.

Antunes, Ciro Carlos 14 March 2014 (has links)
Made available in DSpace on 2016-04-28T19:33:46Z (GMT). No. of bitstreams: 1 Ciro Carlos Antunes.pdf: 1580921 bytes, checksum: 9e2e35bcd3d341bcd41252f3d8168a1f (MD5) Previous issue date: 2014-03-14 / Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior / This paper deals with the use of the hyphen in the word formation, as the Portuguese Spelling Agreement, made between 1986-1990 and approved by the nations that make up the Community of Portuguese Language Countries. Justifies the investigation because , although the Orthographic Agreement tax from 1996 presents a set of rules for the use of the hyphen in the word formation, there are many exceptions to every rule, causing difficulties. The problem is to answer the following questions: 1) Why use the hyphen in the word formation? 2) When the use of the hyphen is needed? 3) If Portuguese is a language accent, ie, intensity, native speakers recognize prefixes and suffixes accented and inacentuados? 4) In the derived and compound forms, the place selected for the accent in lexemes, entails the use of the hyphen? 5) Why multiple prefixes in Portuguese are accentuated if the affixes are treated by traditional grammarians as dependent ways that can not occur by itself in utterances? This work has the objective to contribute to a reflection on the Orthographic Agreement of 1990 and the formation of words Morphology part of our normative grammars of standard use. The specific objectives : 1) to present a brief history of English spelling and its orthographic reforms , to situate the distance between Brazil and Portugal , 2) present difficulties on the Morphology for word formation in our grammars in grammatical usage pattern , 3) examine the rules of use of the hyphen in derived words , and 4) examine the rules of use of the hyphen in compound words . The methodological approach was theoretical and analytical to a corpus consists of examples given in the 1990 Agreement in Brazilian spelling and grammar guides. The results indicate that, for the use of the hyphen: 1. The rules of the hyphen in the word formation derived by prefixing and suffixing were built with oscillation criteria: a) semantic b) morphological c) syntactic d) phonetic e) spelling f) morphosyntatic g) morfofonético. 2. Varying criteria create difficulties for the use of the hyphen and the same are present in the grammar item: Word formation. It follows the need to review the item related to the formation of words, which is spongy and confused, in Brazilian traditional grammar. Without this revision of any rule for hyphenation, word formation, it is difficult to elaborate / Esta dissertação trata do uso do hífen na formação de palavras conforme o Acordo Ortográfico da língua portuguesa formulado entre 1986-1990 e aprovado pelas nações que compõem a Comunidade dos Países de Língua Portuguesa.

Mediální analýza rozpadu Československa / Media analysis of Czechoslovakian Desintegration

Vávra, Ladislav January 2015 (has links)
This thesis addresses the topic of the breakup of Czechoslovakia into two independent Czech and Slovak republics at the beginning of the year 1993. With the help of secondary literature, the first section is dedicated to chronologically interpreting the history of the relationship between Czechs and Slovaks. The section also discusses the accounts of leading Czech, Slovak and other international historians relating to the end of Czechoslovakia. In the second section, the author of this thesis firstly focuses on the analysis of selected printed media, including the Czech newspapers 'Rudé právo' and 'Mladá fronta/Mladá fronta DNES', and Slovakian 'Pravda' from the months around the time of the so-called Hyphen War at the beginning of 1990. The final chapters focus on the analysis of the above-mentioned newspapers from the time of the elections to the Federal Assembly in 1992 and examine reference methods relating to the issue of the Czech- Slovak misunderstanding.

'n Masjienleerbenadering tot woordafbreking in Afrikaans

Fick, Machteld 06 1900 (has links)
The aim of this study was to determine the level of success achievable with a purely pattern based approach to hyphenation in Afrikaans. The machine learning techniques artificial neural networks, decision trees and the TEX algorithm were investigated since they can be trained with patterns of letters from word lists for syllabification and decompounding. A lexicon of Afrikaans words was extracted from a corpus of electronic text. To obtain lists for syllabification and decompounding, words in the lexicon were respectively syllabified and compound words were decomposed. From each list of ±183 000 words, ±10 000 words were reserved as testing data and the rest was used as training data. A recursive algorithm for decompounding was developed. In this algorithm all words corresponding with a reference list (the lexicon) are extracted by string fitting from beginning and end of words. Splitting points are then determined based on the length of reassembled words. The algorithm was expanded by addressing shortcomings of this basic procedure. Artificial neural networks and decision trees were trained and variations of both were examined to find optimal syllabification and decompounding models. Patterns for the TEX algorithm were generated by using the program OPatGen. Testing showed that the TEX algorithm performed best on both syllabification and decompounding tasks with 99,56% and 99,12% accuracy, respectively. It can therefore be used for hyphenation in Afrikaans with little risk of hyphenation errors in printed text. The performance of the artificial neural network was lower, but still acceptable, with 98,82% and 98,42% accuracy for syllabification and decompounding, respectively. The decision tree with accuracy of 97,91% on syllabification and 90,71% on decompounding was found to be too risky to use for either of the tasks A combined algorithm was developed where words are first decompounded by using the TEX algorithm before syllabifying them with both the TEX algoritm and the neural network and combining the results. This algoritm reduced the number of errors made by the TEX algorithm by 1,3% but missed more hyphens. Testing the algorithm on Afrikaans publications showed the risk for hyphenation errors to be ±0,02% for text assumed to have an average of ten words per line. / Decision Sciences / D. Phil.
