Kadlecová, Jana January 2014 (has links)
Title: Consequences of forced hypokinesia on human movement aparatus. Objectives: The aim of this study was to find out the influence of forced hypokinesia after total hip replacement on the excitability of α motoneurons. I deal with the changes of H-reflex and M-wave latencies and the changes of the recruitment curves. The results of the operated and non-operated (kontrol) lower limb were compared. Methods: Five volunteers 3 - 4 weeks after total hip replacement participated in this study. The age was 62,4 (± 3,01). The H-reflex was elicited by stimulation of tibial nerve in a poplitel fossa. The H-reflex and M-wave latencies and its recruitment curves were obtained. After that the values of the operated lower limb were compared with the non-operated one (control). The results were evaluated as case studies. The EMG device Grass Telefactor was used to detect the electrical potential of soleus muscle. The rectangular pulses of 0,5 ms duration were used for stimulation tibial nerve by Grass 88 Stimulator. Then the data were transduced by CED Power 1401 device. Results: We found out that the H-reflexes of both lower limbs were not elicited in the case study no. 2 and the H-reflex of a control lower limb was not elicited in case study no. 1. The stimulus intensities for eliciting H-reflex and M-wave...

Kompenzační cvičení jako prostředek vyrovnávání svalových dysbalancí u osob se sedavým způsobem zaměstnání / Compensation exercises as a means of correcting of muscle imbalances in people with sedentary occupation

Augustinová, Michaela January 2017 (has links)
The topics of this diploma thesis are issues of a sedentary lifestyle and the influence of compensatory exercises as an instrument to compensate the muscle imbalances associated with it. In the theoretical part of my thesis, I focused on explaining and defining the basic problems of this topic and then on several already published international studies dealing with this issue for a long time. I have chosen three studies that reflect the problem on the human body and show significant problems connected with a sedentary lifestyle. For my own research I created compensation exercises for my selected reference group, that is the good specimen due to its sedentary occupation and the age between 40-51, based on the published international studies. For my research I have used the method of experiment in which I have used the testing, examination and evaluation techniques of the motor system. The plan of compensation exercises I created based on the imbalances I have studied and problems associated with a sedentary lifestyle. My research was also focused on the positive effects of physical activity in this group due to their workload and the causal link between a sedentary lifestyle and health of the respondents. The main objective of my thesis is to demonstrate the impact of this plan of compensation...

Rodrigues, Rachael Brant Machado 23 March 2016 (has links)
O efeito da ECP de NST reverte o efeito negativo da levodopa sobre as oscilações observadas em pacientes não operados / INTRODUCTION: The effects of bilateral subthalamic (STN) DBS and medication on balance and on axial symptoms in PD have been so far inconsistent. OBJECTIVE: To assess quantitatively the effects of DBS on static balance in PD. METHODS: Thirty-one patients submitted to STN DBS over 3 months before and 26 non-operated controls with PD on Hoehn & Yahr stage \"on\" 2 to 4 were evaluated using UPDRS and a force plate to measure sway. The first group was evaluated on-DBS/off-medication, on-DBS/on-medication and off-DBS/off-medication. The second group was evaluated on and off medication. Each group was assessed with eyes open and then closed. Antero-posterior, laterolateral postural displacements of the center of pressure (COP), as well as 95% sway area, path length and speed of oscillation were analyzed and compared using t-Student test for parametrical data and Kruskal-Wallis test for non-parametrical data. Level of significance was set to p < 0.05. Clinical assessment consisted of UPDRS part 3 and Hoehn & Yahr scores for each of the conditions. RESULTS: Control patients tended to oscillate more in the on medication condition than off medication. DBS patients tended to oscillate more in the off-DBS/off medication condition, with a tendency to decrease the sway when on DBS/off medication with additional decrease when on DBS/on medication. CONCLUSION: Association of bilateral STN DBS and medication positively influences postural control in PD and surgery reverses the tendency of medication to increase body sway in non-operated patients

Therefore, the aim of this research was to evaluate by clinical and morfometric analysis the effects of laser therapy on neural and muscle repair after crushing of sciatic nerve and hind limb unloading. 48 Wistar male rats machos, with 60 days old, were divided in three groups with 16 animals each, and they were performed as one control group (GA) and two irradiated groups (GB with 4 J/cm² dose; GC with 6 J/cm² dose). After the sciatic nerve was crushed animals were maintained under hind limb suspension and received laser (GaAlAs) irradiation three times per week, during 14 or 28 days. The sciatic functional index (SFI) were measured before surgery, at 14 and 28 days, recovery was observed in all groups especially to GA at 28 days. Morfometric analysis of the nerve showed that the nerve recovery was better to the treated groups, specially at 14 days. The muscle morfometric analysis weren’t effected by laser therapy. Taken together the results allowed to conclude that laser therapy promotes morphological recover of the nerve, specially until 14 days. Yet laser isn’t able to influence the muscle recovery and function.
