Representation i Marvelfilmerna : - en diskursanalys / Representation in the Marvel Movies : a Discourse Analysis

Andersson, Caroline January 2022 (has links)
The purpose of this study is to examine how gender and (non-) whiteness are portrayed in the three Marvel movies Iron Man, The Avengers and Avenger: Endgame. The analysis is based on Fairclough's critical discourse analysis, and is analyzed with the theories of Edward Said, Stuart Hall and Judith Butler, among others. The results show that the films help to produce and reproduce an image of the woman and non-white people as inferior to the man, and the woman as primarily a body. However, there has been some progression between the films released in 2008, 2012 and 2019.

Var gömdes manualen till mångfaldsplanen?

Åkesson, Richard January 2004 (has links)
This paper aims to investigate the problems that can be obstacles to the implement of diversity thinking in the county administrative board of Skåne (länsstyrelsen in Skåne län). The introduction is led by a discussion of the concept of diversity and its development, which is followed by identifications of some organizational precondition for change. Furthermore, a diversity model is shown in relation to some parts of the result. The research was conducted by interviewing seven employees in different spheres in the county administrative board. The interview questions where mainly about the attitudes and the knowledge about the present work for diversity. The results of the interviews are brought together and from there some possibilities to improve the work is introduced. The outcome of the research is consequently that the county administrative board of Skåne is missing an established and recognized vision of tomorrow about how the organisation wants to see itself in the future regarding diversity. An other important conclusion is that the work of diversity is far to much depending on real enthusiasts. It can finally be established that the interest of diversity questions exists amongst the employees however the questions have at present low priority due to the growing number of general obligations that the county of administrative have to do in its daily activities.

Kvinnor och etnicitet inom det mansdominerade polisyrket : En textanalys om hur det talas om kvinnor och personer med annan etnisk bakgrund än svensk - och hur deras utmaningar inom polisyrket har utvecklats / Women and Ethnicity in the Male-dominated Police Profession : A Text Analysis of How Women and People with an Ethnic Background Other Than Swedish are Spoken About – and How Their Challenges in the Police Profession have Developed

Zein, Habiba January 2022 (has links)
This study focuses on diversity issues such as ethnicity, gender, and discrimination in the police profession, but mainly in connection with women and people with other ethnic backgrounds in the profession. The study is based on three questions that are answered during the study. To proceed with this survey, I have used a text analysis survey that I built up with the help of empirical data in the form of literature, reports from the government, annual reports of the police and previous publications in the form of blog posts to get the experiences my questions are out after. My theoretical perspectives in this study are the gender system by Yvonne Hirdman. French sociologist Pierre Bourdieu's theory of different capitals. Erving Goffman's theory Stigma which deals with classification and social deviations. To understand the aspect of power, I use the concept of Hegemony. The result of my study was that it is constantly working to increase diversity and gender equality in the police profession, but that it is still unequal.

Escobar, Amalia January 2021 (has links)
This is a thesis conducted in San José, Costa Rica during two months in the spring of 2021. The purpose of this study is to explore what factors are causing migration from Nicaragua to Costa Rica, if the migration has included discrimination in any form and to what extend the staff at the non-governmental organizations Dale una mano a tu hermano (Give your brother a hand), and Ticos y Nicas (costaricans and nicaraguans) somos hermanos (Ticos y Nicas, are brothers) find their vision of integrating Nicaraguan refugees into Costa Rica possible.  The data for this project was collected through semi structured interviews with staff members at the non-governmental organizations “Dale una mano a tu hermano”, “Ticos y Nicas somos hermanos” and migrants from Nicaragua. The concepts of The Rational Choice Theory, Lee’s Push and Pull Migration Theory, and Hall’s theory of the “Other” was used as a theoretical framework to the thesis. The conclusion of this study is that migration from one country to another is caused by several factors, that migration can lead to discrimination in any form, and that the mentioned non-governmental organizations still find their work of integrating migrants into Costa Rica hard.

Svenska migranters upplevelser i Japan : En kvalitativ intervjustudie om svenskars upplevelser av att ha kontakt med japans offentliga sektor, arbetsplatser och relationer med japaner / Swedish migrants' experiences in Japan : A qualitative interview study of Swedish migrants' experiences of contact with Japan's public sector, workplaces, and relationships with Japanese people

Antonsson, Andrea January 2022 (has links)
Migration to Sweden and integration of immigrants in Sweden is an ongoing subject in politics and the media. Swedish people migrating to other countries that have different cultures and values is not as talked about. One example of such a country is Japan which has experienced a drastic demographic change in the last decades with a growing elderly population. Japan has a restrictive migration policy and while the easiest way of solving this issue is allowing more migrants into the country, little has been done to change policies so far. This study aims to explore what experiences Swedish migrants in Japan have in their everyday life. What challenges do they face? To explore this the study focuses on their experiences of contact with Japan’s public sector, workplaces, and relationships with Japanese people. Five semi-structured interviews were conducted with Swedish people that all had experience of living and working in Japan. The results show that the respondents generally have a positive experience of Japan’s public sector, while they wish there were more English-speaking staff. They also critiqued Japan’s restrictive migration policies. In the workplaces they also had generally positive experiences. They talked about cultural differences they encountered and that they had to adapt how they behaved in certain ways. When it came to relationships with Japanese people it was a mixed bag. While they all had Japanese friends, and some had Japanese partners, they all felt that it was difficult to get close to or befriend Japanese people. Several of the respondents also experienced different types of discrimination and harassment. None of the respondents felt fully integrated into Japanese society, where some of them wanted to feel fully integrated, while some were happy the way it was.
