Fredricsson, Erika, Sjödin, Emelie January 2017 (has links)
This study aims to contribute and increase knowledge about performance appraisal and its effect on work motivation. The industry chosen is consultant companies within IT, to contribute with knowledge within a current area of todays’ society, but also to the lack of research. The previous research of evaluation and performance in general is divided into to separate sides. Some researchers claim that evaluation affects work motivation in a positive way, and some researchers claim the opposite. Therefore, we wanted to add a contribution with knowledge to this discussion. The key question of this study, ”What factors in the evaluation instrument performance appraisal effects, according to the employees, their work motivation?” was answered by the following sub questions; ”What conversation subjects and factors in the performance appraisal are experienced as motivating for the consultants work motivation?” and ”What conversation subjects and factors in the performance appraisal are experienced as not motivating for the consultants work motivation?” The study was based on a qualitative research method. Eight semi structured interviews were conducted and used for the analysis of the study, and the material was analyzed in the perspective of Herzbergs motivation and hygiene theory. The result showed that evaluation in the shape of performance appraisal is motivating depending on what conversation subjects and factors discussed, and that what effects the work motivation differs between individuals. The major result of the study indicated that personal and career possibilities were experienced as very motivating parts of the performance appraisal. Therefore, the theory has been developed by the writers of this study, by claiming development possibilities as a motivation factor within the area of evaluation.

Flexibilitetens mångsidighet : En kvalitativ studie om IT-högutbildad bemanningsarbetskraft / The versatility of flexibility : A qualitative study regarding IT educated temporary agency workers

Gustafsson, Frida, Ringdahl, Camilla January 2017 (has links)

Xu, Haibin, Reichel, Thomas, Rünger, Gudula, Schwind, Michael 05 August 2013 (has links) (PDF)

Corporate reputation in the information technology industry : a South African case study

Le Roux, J.R.J (Johanna Regine Josephe) 20 April 2004 (has links)
This study focuses on measuring the corporate reputation of an organisation within the information technology (IT) industry in South Africa. An empirical investigation was conducted to identify the elements that influence corporate reputation. The research design selected was a case study. For purposes of confidentiality, the organisation used in this dissertation will be referred to as The Group. There were three specific objectives to this study; firstly to identify the channels of communication between the organisation’s stakeholders; secondly to identify the specific elements that influence corporate reputation for each stakeholder group, and finally to provide The Group with recommendations to develop an investor-orientated image and reputation within the South African business environment. This research study consisted of four phases: initial qualitative exploratory research, problem finalisation and re-conceptualisation, quantitative data collection and finally analysis reporting. Stakeholders included in this study were The Group’s employees, The Group’s executive board, clients, non-clients, financial analysts, trade and business media, partners and suppliers, public relations houses and the general public. The main conclusions drawn from the study are that the channels of communication internally and externally to the organisation influence corporate reputation. The most important disseminators of information regarding The Group are its employees. Corporate communications, clients and the media also play a vital role in influencing corporate reputation. These stakeholders should be targeted to receive the bulk of the reputation improvement activities so that a change in their perceptions can be filtered through to the stakeholders. Four specific business processes have been identified that have an impact on corporate reputation, namely general business management, financial management, corporate marketing and corporate communications. Recommendations emanating from this study to improve corporate reputation within the IT industry suggest that The Group create a stronger public awareness. Communication initiatives need to assure stakeholders that The Group is performing well although the share price is low. An extensive black economic empowerment (BEE) programme will enhance the corporate reputation. Finally, The Group needs to agree on a set of actionable initiatives across corporate functions, marketplaces and service lines to enhance the corporate reputation. / Dissertation (MCom)--University of Pretoria, 2005. / Communication Management / MCom / Unrestricted

Basel II a IS/ICT / Basel II and IS/ICT

Kovář, Petr January 2008 (has links)
The Basel II Framework ensures banks are well capitalized. It is designed to be more risk sensitive than the old Basel Capital Accord and considers operational risk, such as "the risk of loss resulting from inadequate or failed internal procesess, people and systems or from external events." Banks are forced to calculate the regulatory capital charge for operational risk and want to optimize it. IT is a substantial part of operational risk and therefore is a part of the regulatory capital charge for operational risk. The Basel Committee requires banks to implement a framework to manage operational risk. One objective of this study is to provide description of this framework, IT aspects of operational risk and IT governance under Basel II, based on available sources of information. Another objective is to design processes for assessing and managing IT and operational risks under Basel II. Last but not least objective of this study is to disclose recent credit risk data and indicators for consolidated sector and large banks in the Czech republic. The amount of the regulatory capital charge for operational risk is an important part of the overall capital charge. This work increases IT practitioner's understanding of such topics as assessing and managing operational risk under Basel II.
