Ontology-based approach for product-driven interoperability of enterprise production systems / Approche basée sur les ontologies pour l’interopérabilité centrée sur le produit des systèmes d'entreprise de production

Tursi, Angela 13 November 2009 (has links)
In recent years, the enterprise applications interoperability has become the leitmotiv of developers and designers in systems engineering. Most approaches to interoperability in the company have the primary objective of adjustment and adaptation of types and data structures necessary for the implementation of collaboration between companies. In the field of manufacturing, the product is a central component. Scientific works propose solutions taking into account information systems derived from products technical data throughout their life cycle. But this information is often uncorrelated. The management of product data (PDM) is commonly implemented to manage all information concerning products throughout their life cycle. The modelling of management and manufacturing processes is widely applied to both physical products and services. However, these models are generally independent “islands” ignoring the problem of interoperability between applications that support these models. The objective of this thesis is to study the problem of interoperability applied to applications used in the manufacturing environment and to define a model of the ontological knowledge of enterprises related to the products they manufacture, based on technical data, ensuring the interoperability of enterprise systems. The outcome of this research concerns the formalization of a methodology for identifying a product-centric information system in the form of an ontology, for the interoperability of applications in manufacturing companies, based on existing standard such as ISO 10303 and IEC 62264.

Sistema embarcado inteligente para detecção de intrusão em subestações de energia elétrica utilizando o Protocolo OpenFlow / Embedded intelligent system for intrusion detection in electric power substations using the OpenFlow protocol

Lázaro Eduardo da Silva 05 October 2016 (has links)
The IEC-61850 made it possible to integrate equipments of electric power system substations to a high-speed Ethernet data communication network. Its main goal is the interconnection of IEDs for the automation of processes in an electrical system. The contributions of this protocol for the integration of the control and supervision of the electrical system are diverse, although an Ethernet network exposes the electrical system for cyber attacks. The IEC-62351 states a series of recommendations to provide security to the communication network of the electrical system, such as the communication network management, the analysis of GOOSE messages and the use of intrusion detection systems. This study describes the development of an IDS that meets the security requirements proposed by the IEC-62351 standard to identify attacks on communication between GOOSE messages exchanged by electrical equipment using IEC-61850. For the development of this application, fields of the GOOSE messages were identified, in order to recognize the expected values in different power system operating conditions. Behaviour patterns were determined to detect false messages on the communication network. A real-time embedded operating system on ZYBO was installed and configured, as well as the OpenMul controller to manage the communication network of the substation through the OpenFlow protocol, performing optimizations for multicast traffic. A detection system and block tamper GOOSE messages, using the OpenFlow protocol for control of the electrical system communication network, were developed. In addition, an intelligent system using an Artificial Neural Network (ANN) Nonlinear Autoregressive Model with Exogenous Input (NARX) for predicting of the GOOSE messages traffic and the detection of Distributed Deny of Service attack (DDOS) were also developed. The results obtained show that the OpenFlow protocol may be a valuable tool for network control, however, manufacturers should maturely carry on with its implementation in the switches, so that it be used in substation communication networks. The traffic prediction system of the GOOSE messages presented interesting benefits for the security of the communication network, demonstrating potential to built a DDOS attack detection system performed by GOOSE messages on the communication network of electric power substations.

The effectiveness of strategies for providing voter education in rural areas : a case study of Homu Village, Greater Giyani Municipality

Maswanganyi, Rirhandzu Bertha January 2018 (has links)
Thesis (MPA.) --University of Limpopo, 2018 / Despite the adoption of democratic electoral procedures and the establishment of the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) in post-apartheid South Africa, the strategies for providing voter education in rural areas of the country have not been adequate in terms of creating awareness about democracy and enabling rural citizens to mJlke rational choice during elections (Sadie, Patel, & Baldry 2016:6). It is for this reason that this study was conducted to evaluate the effectiveness of voter education strategies in one of the rural communities in Greater Giyani Municipality, in Limpopo province. This study adopted qualitative exploratory research design. The target groups were the local IEC voter educators and community members. Data was collected using one to one individual interviews, observation and literature review. The results of the study show that the IEC used various strategies to promote voter education. However, the dominant use of media was discredited by the community because of the language barrier, lack of ownership, one-way communication, unaffordability and low level of literacy. It was also found that voter education is not provided continuously as stated in IEC documents while shortage of IEC voter educators and limiting education periods pose other challenges. The study also revealed poor voter education coverage to special groups such as the disabled or the marginalised groups due to lack of capacity to teach them. These findings show that voter education is not as effective as it should be. The study therefore recommends that strategies for voter education be strengthened, especially in rural communities where people live in poverty and poor socio-economic conditions. It is further recommended that the IEC revises voter education strategies and uses those that will benefit more people, such as face to face and home visits, so that people feel free to ask questions. Furthermore, the community recommended that the IEC teaches community stakeholders, who will in turn cascade the information down to community members. The reason for this is that people are likely to feel free to communicate and to ask question because the educators will be known to them. The study further recommends that the IEC improves its staff complement to curb the existing shortage of human power. Further, research on evaluating the knowledge of voters on voting matters will be of outmost importance.

Säkerhetskritiska standarder och FPGA / FPGA and safety critical standards

Stymne, Petter January 2013 (has links)

Al-Botani, Nidaa January 2015 (has links)
Information today is a valuable resource for organizations which become more and more dependent on their information systems.

Ασσιούρας, Ιωάννης 05 January 2011 (has links)
Η Real time Specification of Java (RTSJ) ξεπερνάει τους περιορισμούς της Java που την κρίνουν ακατάλληλη για την ανάπτυξη συστημάτων πραγματικού χρόνου. H Real Time Java / The Real Time Specification of Java (RTSJ) addresses successfully the limitations of Java that make it inappropriate for the development of real time applications. Many positive experiences of using Real Time Java in the control and automation domain have already been reported so far.In spite of the many positive results, the wide use of Java in control and automation domain is prohibited due to the fact that the control engineers are not familiar with current software engineering technologies. The IEC61499 RTSJ-Based Framework, that is presented and extended in the context of this thesis exploits the new IEC61499 standard that is based on the Function Block(FB) concept. This framework allows the control engineer to work in the design level using the already widely accepted concept of FB and transparently use real-time Java for the implementation model of the system. In this thesis the extensions that the RTSJ provides to standard Java are initially presented.Next, the IEC61499 RTSJ-Based Framework is presented as well as the extensions that were added in the context of this thesis in order to support the development of distributed applications. In addition, the performance analysis of the framework's run-time environment is presented as well as the case study of a modular production system the Festo MPS

Proposition d'une méthodologie pour la conception des systèmes de production reconfigurables et d'un outil associé d'aide à la décision par simulation de flux / Proposal of a methodology for the design of reconfigurable production systems and an associated flow simulation tool to support decision

Lameche, Khaled 12 February 2018 (has links)
Nowadays, the market is characterized by a high level of competitiveness and very frequent and sudden variations in the production context. The critical review of the existing manufacturing paradigms which are the dedicated manufacturing lines DMLs and the flexible manufacturing systems FMSs reveals that these systems are not capable of fulfilling the requirements imposed by the actual market; these requirements are mainly resumed in cost, quality and reactivity. Therefore, the need for a new manufacturing paradigm that could fulfill these requirements has arisen. Reconfigurable Manufacturing System or RMSs is this new paradigm; it is supposed to be reactive enough to cope with the sudden changes of the market while keeping the products quality high with a low cost. The main challenge in RMS is their design. Most of the proposed methods in the literature do not address the RMS design issue as a whole; they treat just part of the problem. Hence, as a contribution, we propose in this paper, a generic RMS design methodology based on systems engineering SE. This methodology will support the RMS design along the development process. It is based specifically on the standard ISO/IEC/IEEE15288.

Boudreau, François January 1994 (has links)

Performance analysis of IEC 61850 process bus and interoperability test among multi-vendor system

Chen, Xi January 2016 (has links)
IEC 61850 standards are the global standard for communication in substations. It is gaining popularity in power substation automation and will dominate the future substation automation and protection system design. The standards provide new approaches for protection, control and metering function via communication. The secondary circuits in substation are simplified significantly and the massive hardwired cables are replaced by the high-speed process bus which transmit analogue and binary signals with Ethernet messages. However, the conformity of a device with the standards does not necessarily guarantee the interoperability with devices from different manufacturers. The use of devices compatible with IEC 61850 standards presents a challenge to many system integrators, especially due to lack of familiarity with features such as Generic Object Oriented Substation Event (GOOSE), reporting, Sampled Values and the need for system redundancy. To facilitate a smooth implementation, all the features and the data exchanges between devices need to be tested to ensure the system operates correctly. This project was carried out to study the protection performance of secondary schemes with IEC 61850 process bus architecture in substation. The tests were performed including current differential protection and distance protection on a transmission substation of the type used in the UK on the transmission network. The protection schemes were tested under IEC 61850 environment with multi-vendor IEDs like Alstom MiCOM IEDs, NARI IEDs with the OMICRON test set. More tests were carried out to verify the interoperability and the performance of time-critical messages were evaluated under different network architectures. The impact of the background traffic on these two messages was investigated and the response of the IEDs when the Sampled Values packets were lost or overwritten was recorded and provided to utility as a reference. This project also presented a technique to assess the performance of Merging Units from different manufacturers, when operating with Intelligent Electronic Devices (IEDs) performing a distance protection function. The performance of the process bus with parallel redundancy protocol is evaluated using a closed loop approach involving a Real Time Digital Simulator. The results indicate that protection using process bus communication is feasible, and meets grid code requirements when implemented with commercially available products. It was found that process bus operation is robust, even with network traffic conditions far beyond what would be experienced in an active substation.
