Integrace Ukrajinců v Českých Budějovicích / Integration of the Ukrainians in the České BudějoviceŠILLEROVÁ, Veronika January 2015 (has links)
The diploma thesis is named Integration of Ukrainians in České Budějovice. The first chapter explains the basic concepts related to the topic of integration of foreigners, such as migration, immigrant or refugee. The second section refers to the concept of integration, which is defined in detail. The third chapter describes the integration policy in the Czech Republic. The fourth chapter is dedicated to legislation and two basic laws governing this issue. The fifth chapter concerns foreigners in the Czech Republic in terms of numbers and statistics and sixth chapter includes basic characteristic of Ukrainian immigrants in the country. The last chapter is devoted to organizations aimed at helping foreigners in the České Budějovice. The aim is to find out what the positives and negatives are in the integration of Ukrainians in the České Budějovice. They were provided the following two research questions: 1. What are the positives and negatives in the integration of Ukrainians living in the České Budějovice? 2. Do Ukrainians attend some organization focused on helping foreigners in the České Budějovice? Results related to the first research question revealed some positives and negatives that occur in the integration of Ukrainians in the České Budějovice. The main negatives were revealed in language skills - Problems with the pronunciation of certain letters (ř), incomprehensibility of laws and more technical texts, writing diacritics over letters or filling out forms. The interviews revealed some positives. For example, what can helps informants or could help the negatives be reduced or removed. They do not recommend settling down only with Ukrainians, but should find Czech friends and communicate with them and participate in the work process. It also helps to watch Czech TV and listen to radio. In the field of economic and social self-sufficiency, I focused on two areas - Employment and housing. In the field of employment there exist several serious problems. For the vast majority of informants their job does not correspond to the education acquired in the Ukraine. It is connected with young immigrants with university degree, who try to get a job. They met with discrimination at the interview because of their origin. The positive thing is the less-educated immigrants do not find it difficult to get a job and that all the informants are also satisfied with the salary. Several negatives were also shown in the housing sector, but informants were not talking about their own experiences, but the experiences of their friends. These are mainly problems with landlords who refuse to issue a certificate of accommodation for immigrants from the Ukraine. Informants are satisfied with their housing, and they say that is not a problem for them to get adequate housing, which are clear positives. According to informants in the field of society and culture is a major downside of poor orientation of immigrants in the law, in rights and duties and employee access at offices. Culture is, according to them, similar, but they see major differences on important matters such as the family and family life, how they lead children to education and they do not like celebrating festivals at a different time. Another part of research were relations between the majority and the minority. Negatives also occur in the form of shyness in Ukrainians when making conversation with Czechs, they also bothers them little activity from the government to promote good relations between nations and the lack of interest of the Czechs in establishing conversations and friendly relations with Ukrainians. Positives could be a multicultural event that the government could organize to improve relations between Czechs and other cultures and promoting inter-cultural education in elementary schools. The second research question concerns the organizations that are trying to help them. It turned out, immigrants do know about these organizations they do not attend them that much.

Integrace dětí imigrantů a azylantů / Integration of Immigrant and Recognized Refugee ChildrenPETRŮ, Eva January 2007 (has links)
The subject of my thesis is {\clqq}Integration of Children of Immigrants and of Asylum Seekers``. I have chosen this topic because migration problems have become one of the actual topics in public life in the present Europe and its importance increases because the number of migrants constantly increases. The Czech Republic encountered the problems of fugitives and immigration shortly after the fall of communism in 1989. To this time it had been isolated from the other world for a long time and therefore it may seem it is unprepared for these problems. This can be seen on imperfect integration policy, but also on attitude of public towards the newcomers. Considering the fact that the number of immigrants and fugitives coming to the Czech Republic as a destination country has increased, it is necessary for us to learn to co-live with the foreigners. I have aimed the thesis at problems of integration of immigrants, asylum seekers and their children because I think that the question of integration of foreigners into the Czech society is one of the most important for the trouble free co-existence. I divided the work into theoretical and practical parts. In the theoretical part of the thesis I am researching the development of migration in the world and development of migration in the Czech Republic, history of fugitives in the Czech Republic, problems of underage aliens without close escort, psychosocial situation of immigrants and asylum seekers, their integration, education of children of aliens, multicultural education and social work with immigrants, asylum seekers and their children. In the practical part I used the method of a quantitative research. Goal of this thesis was to uncover the insufficiencies in integration of children of the immigrants and asylum seekers living in the Czech society. Questioning was the method for gathering data for research, data collection technique was the questionnaire. I created three types of the questionnaires. One of them was designated for children of immigrants and asylum seekers attending basic school. I handed out 60 questionnaires, returnability was 86.6%. Second questionnaire was designated for social workers from various organizations engaged in problems of integration of aliens. Here only 6 from the 20 sent out questionnaires returned to me. Returnability was 30%. The third questionnaire was designated for basic school and high school teachers. 25 questionnaires were handed out. Returnability of these questionnaires was 64%. In hypothesis 1 I assumed that there are no special methods designated for integration of children of immigrants and asylum seekers in the Czech Republic. In hypothesis 2 I assumed that the longer is the residence of children of immigrants and asylum seekers in the area of the Czech Republic the less they meet with racism and xenophobia. Both hypotheses were confirmed on the basis of conducted research. Findings from the theoretical and practical part are summarized at the end of the thesis.

The theoretical part is compiled from Czech and foreign literature. At the beginning of this section it presents theories explaining functions of mass media in society. Then it describes the characteristics of Vietnamese immigrants in the Czech Republic and their internal differentiation. One of the most important chapters of the thesis is also a chapter describing VTV4, which briefly introduces its objectives, history, and also its program. The core of the thesis is the qualitative research conducted through semi-structured interviews. The methodology of the research is explained in detail in the methodology section. The aim was to find out from informants, which roles VTV4 plays in their lives whereby great attention is paid to differences in perception between the so-called the first generation of Vietnamese immigrants and the second generation. The analytical part composes of responses of informants from both groups. This part also contains the interpretation and the evaluation of the data obtained from...

This thesis thematically deals with Uzbek minority in Prague, which was formed during the last two decades. Main part contain and analyze the structure of the Uzbek minority, and I used the statistics concerning number, working and educational activities, gender representation, territorial decomposition, crime and infringements of residential regime of Uzbek immigrants. I focus also on determination of expanse and method of integration in the majority society environment, patterns of behavior and thinking and culture aspects of everyday life in the minority group. From the research methods I use survey, in-depth interviews and participant observation. I place emphasis on the definition of "push" and "pull" factors of immigration. In addition, I document how the Uzbek Immigrants assess social and cultural environment of the host country, their attitudes and opinions to the people of the Czech Republic and members of other nationalities, especially to those with whom they come in a host country usually in contact, and how they integrate in the Czech environment. I also pay big attention to the changes that took place in the Uzbek community during life in the Czech Republic, including the period after 2008 due to the recession of Czech economy and restrict working opportunities and perspectives....

Lietuvių emigrantų išsilavinimas kaip kultūrinės adaptacijos veiksnys (Lietuvių, gyvenančių Anglijoje, išsilavinimo ir adaptacijos tyrimo pagrindu) / Lithuanian emigrants' calibre as the factor of cultural adaptation (on the grounds of the research of Lithuanian people, who live in the UK, calibre and adaptation)Danikauskienė, Jurgita 21 June 2006 (has links)
Over the years hundreds of thousands Lithuanian people found themselves far away from their native country because of various reasons. When Lithuania became a member of European Union in 2004, Europe’s open states’ frontiers activated Lithuanian people to migrate to the USA, Ireland, Great Britain, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Germany and the West.
Lithuanian emigrants and their children at all times getting into a different linguistic tone and sphere permanently or for a short period confront with many problems: emigrants’ adaptation and integration in the sphere of foreign countries keeping their nationally.
Expression of successful migrants’ adaptation and integration is social involvement in new society. Polysemantic conception of social involvement is associated with political and civic awareness, involvement in economical, political, cultural and society life, development of ethnic culture and keeping the nationally.
Herein scientific work it was tried to explore Lithuanians’ who live in Great Britain caliber as the factor of their cultural adaptation.
The records of this research established that most Lithuanian migrants who live in England now belong to the emigratory surge which started after Lithuania became a member of European Union. These emigrants are looking for bigger emolument, better quality of life so they can be ascribed to economical emigrants. Most respondents are young and single (or they left their families in Lithuania), most of them finished vocational... [to full text]

Problematika integrace dětí azylantů a imigrantů žijících v ČR / Integration of Recognized Refugees and Immigrants Children living in the Czech RepublicHODOUŠOVÁ, Jana January 2011 (has links)
The issue of integration of children of asylum seekers and immigrants living in the Czech Republic is the theme of the thesis. I have chosen the topic because I find it very interesting and an up-to-day subject which is in the way of all citizens of the Czech Republic. I have focused the theoretical part on clarifying some concepts, such as: asylum seeker, immigrant, foreigner, refugee, unaccompanied minors, integration and other ones. The aim of the thesis is to find out obstacles for the integration of children of asylum seekers and immigrants living in the Czech Republic. For the implementation of the research part of the thesis, I have chosen the qualitative type of research - the method of interview - the technique of interview. A sociometric test has been chosen as a complementary method. The research was conducted in Permon, a facility for foreign children, from January 2011 to March 2011. The Research Group No 1 consisted of ten immigrant children from 7 to18 years old (in case of students their age could be 21 years at the utmost). The research of asylum seeking children was not enabled. The facility is obliged to protect the children and does not provide any information about them. I have processed the results through the form of case studies. For the purpose of the research implementation, I have divided the integration into five areas (language, culture, housing, social relations and needs). A questionnaire designed by PhDr. Kovařík and Prof. Dunovský was another independent part of my research. In the area of language, it came in sight that most immigrant children communicate in Czech language which they learned from their parents or, and it is very rare, in detention facilities for foreigners. The most frequent problem in this area is writing (spelling). In the area of culture, it came in sight that despite the possibility to observe customs of their original countries, very few respondents cherish them here in the Czech Republic. Customs and traditions differ from country to country, but it does not hinder the integration of children of immigrants. As for the area of housing, all respondents are living in the facility for children ? immigrants. They travel home, if there is the home, only at weekends or according to capability of their parents. All but two respondents are happy at home. In the area of social relations, it came in sight that if respondents need any help, they mostly approach teachers and educators but also friends and parents. In the last area, the area of needs, it came in sight that the most frequent need is to be with their families and then the need for greater freedom. The additional questionnaire for children revealed that what respondents are the most worried about is that they will not see their families any more. On the other hand, weekends spent with their families and leaving the facility are the two things that they are looking forward to the most. It is possible to say that respondents feel that the facility is a barrier which prevents them from integration into mainstream society and deprives them from their freedom. The sociometric test was performed in one secondary school and in one primary school in the town of Písek in February and March 2011. The Research Group No 2 consisted of students of different grades and age (7-17 years old) including foreigners. The test was performed in five classes. The test results showed that foreign children have no problem with their integration. Based on the results of the sociometric test, it is possible to take the assumption that the origin of children is not an obstacle in communication with other children. This assumption can be a basis for more extensive research. It is possible to use the thesis as a basis for any quantitative research. What is more, the thesis can serve the general public to increase their awareness of this issue.

Životní styl imigrantů a azylantů. / Lifestyle of immigrants and recognized refugees.FIALOVÁ, Zuzana January 2007 (has links)
Lifestyle of immigrants and recognized refugees Migration can be defined as more or less terminated process moving of people among places which are determinated by state borders. It is the process when person or group of people leave their land to find better place for living. Each person has his or her own lifestyle and it is one of the basic factors that influences the quality of living. The lifestyle is formed during life when is a person in interaction with enviroment. The theory is further split into 6 main chapters that involve all issues of lifestyle of immigrants and recognized refugees. The history of migration to the Czech Republic is analyzed, asylum processing and the most important lifestyle of national minorities is mentioned. In the last chapter of theoretical part integration of immigrants and asylum seekers in the Czech Republic is mentioned. The practical part is devoted to the research and it was dedicated to lifestyle of immigrants and asylum seekers in the Czech Republic and in their domicile of origin. The aim of the thesis was to compare lifestyle of immigrants and asylum seekers in the Czech Republic and in their domicile of origin. The hypothetical assumption suggested that lifestyle of immigrants and asylum seekers is the same in the Czech Republic as in their domicile of origin. The regions of the research were South Bohemian region, Plzeň region and Ústí nad Labem region. To prove or invalidate the hypothesis a method of questionnaire was used. 100 people were accosted and they received questionnaire to fill in it during four months. I received 64 questionnaires back. After evaluation of the questionnaires I came to the result that people who had filled the questionnaire have the same lifestyle in the Czech Republic as in their domicile of origin. The hypothesis was proved. Public, students of social school and their educators will be introduced with the results. I would recommend to focuse individual social work because each person has different needs. Easygoing integration into Czech society coheres with reaction of Czech people as well. My work could be used as text book referring about national minorities living in the Czech Republic. At the end of the thesis there are some supportive documents related to my work. It is neccesary to know that the more we can help foreigners to integrate themselves and we adopt them as our fellow-citizens the faster they will feel at {\crqq}home{\crqq} in the Czech Republic.

Práva imigrantů / Rights of ImmigrantsSOUKUPOVÁ, Eva January 2007 (has links)
The Czech Republic encounters problems of immigration after 1989. At present time there are about 2.5% of foreigners in the Czech Republic. This percentage is amongst the lowest within EU, however the predictions for the future are that the number is going to constantly increase. People come to the Czech Republic seeking better conditions for living and want to start a new life here. Therefore part of the government policy should be securing immigrants with equal access and equal opportunities in the labour market, in relation to health as well as social care. A quantitative research in the form of a questionnaire technique was selected in the practical part. Anonymous questionnaires for immigrants and public were used. The research aimed at immigrants was conducted in institutions engaged in helping aliens in Brno, České Budějovice, Hradec Králové, Plzeň and Prague. Total of 120 questionnaires were sent out. The questionnaire's returnability was 49%. The research set was therefore formed by 59 respondents. Research aimed at public was conducted in České Budějovice, Jindřichův Hradec and in Třeboň. Total of 110 questionnaires were handed out and their returnability was 100%. All questionnaires were evaluated and elaborated into percentage figures. Two goals are set in the thesis. To each of the goals two hypotheses were set. Goal 1: Find out the level of immigrants' knowledge about labour law and related regulations to it {--} health insurance, welfare. Hypothesis No. 1: More than half of the questioned immigrants know their rights. Hypothesis No. 2: More than half of the questioned immigrants know to whom they may turn to in case of problem solving. After questionnaire evaluation the first hypothesis was not confirmed and the second hypothesis was confirmed. Goal 2: Find out the level of public awareness of the law status of aliens living in the area of the Czech Republic. Hypothesis No. 1: More than half of the questioned respondents do not know the alien rights living in the area of the Czech Republic. Hypothesis No. 2: More than half of the questioned respondents know the organizations providing support for aliens living in the area of the Czech Republic. After evaluation of the questionnaire the first hypothesis was not confirmed and the second was confirmed.

Project Oasis / Projekt OasenLanding, Oscar January 2017 (has links)
As we all know urbanization is happening all around the globe whether we like it or not and India is no exception. During our visit to India and Ahmedabad we got to see this up close, one thing I saw that stuck in my head was that of a small child covered in dirt playing beside a busy road where the family was living under a makeshift tent made of tarp and scavenged materials . This together with all the pollution and dust from the traffic made the whole scene feel like something out of Mad max movie. My project aims to deal with these families of rural immigrants and the issues and challenges they face when moving from the rural to the city and their initial time in the city before finding their place. The issues I have chosen to focus on is dwelling, networking and finding a job.
