Ranking Aspect-Based Features in Restaurant ReviewsChan, Jacob Ling Hang 07 December 2020 (has links)
Consumers continuously review products and services on the internet. Others have frequently relied on those reviews in making purchasing decisions. Review texts are usually free-form and associated with a star rating on a 5-point scale. The majority of restaurants receive a 3.5 or 4 star rating on average, so a standalone star rating does not provide adequate information for readers to make a decision. Many researchers have approached the problem with sentiment analysis to classify a sentence or a text as expressing a positive or a negative review. Sentiment analysis, even at the fine-grained level, can only provide classification of positive and negative judgments on any particular aspect under consideration. The novel method proposed in this thesis provides insight into what aspects reviewers deem as relevant when assigning star rating to restaurants. This is accomplished by using an interpretable star rating classification method that predicts star rating based on aspect and polarity score from the review. The model first assigns a polarity score for each aspect in the review text, then predicts a star rating, and outputs a ranked list of aspect importance according to a widely used restaurant reviews dataset. The result from this thesis suggests that the classification model is able to output a reliable ranking from the review texts.

Musikens betydelse : En intervjustudie med skapande musiker om deras yrkes- och fritidslyssning / The meaning and importance of music : An interview study with creative musicians about their professional and free time listeningNyberg, Sonny January 2021 (has links)

Žákovské atribuční tendence a instrumentalita učení / Pupils attributional tendencies and learning instrumentalitySaitlová, Barbora January 2013 (has links)
TITLE: Pupils attributional tendencies and learning instrumentality AUTHOR: Mgr. Barbora Saitlová DEPARTMENT: Charles University in Prague - Faculty of Education SUPERVISOR: Doc. PhDr. Isabella Pavelková, CSc. ABSTRACT: In this dissertation we deal with an issue of pupils and students attribution in relation to life goals and perceived learning instrumentality for achieving these goals. We use life goals as an area for the two variables examination research. Besides the above mentioned variables we deal with another factors that we consider important in goals realization - future time perspective and students volitional characteristics, too. We were interested in school success and failure attribution, verification the role of internal and controllable attribution in terms of future time perspective or difference between the concept learning instrumentality and future time perspective. We used modified version of Inventory of motivational goals importance and learning instrumentality (De Volder, Lens, 1982) that we supplemented by questions about the attributional tendencies. Furthermore as a main method, we assigned students modified version of the Perspective orientation inventory (Pavelková, 2002), the Zimbardo time perspective inventory (Zimbardo, Boyd, 1999) and the Volitional components...

What Do Guests Look for in a Hotel? a Multi-Attribute ApproachYavas, Ugur, Babakus, Emin 22 December 2003 (has links)
This study assesses the relative strengths and weaknesses of a hotel, Holiday Inn, as viewed by two customer segments: business travelers and vacationers. The evaluation is based on the analytical framework of importance-performance analysis using 28 hotel attributes. Despite some differences, there are a number of similarities between the two segments in terms of the attributes they rely on when choosing a hotel and how they evaluate Holiday Inn on these attributes. These insights are important to the management in designing pointed strategies to better serve the needs of their guests.

Toward Education and Training the Human Resources: Meeting the Challenge Through a Joint-Venture Process Approach Between the Public and Private SectorsRodrigues, Elsa P., Gomes, Carlos F., Yasin, Mahmoud M. 01 January 2015 (has links)
The changing and highly competitive job market is putting pressure on both the private and public sectors to maintain and prepare an educated and well-trained human resource. In this context, a well-integrated educational and training strategy must be formulated and implemented, jointly, by the public and private sectors. This study presents the effort of Portugal in this direction. It emphasises a process orientation to achieve the goal of upgrading the educational skills of Portuguese employees, part of whom are entrepreneurs. For the purpose of this study cluster analysis, regression analysis and the important performance analysis were used. Based on the findings, the implications of the cooperation between the public and private sectors are discussed and a conceptual framework to aid policymakers, decision makers, and future researchers is offered. The benchmarking implications of this process are underscored.

Using Event Attendees' Perceived Importance of Event Design to Evaluate Overall SatisfactionBeardsley, Meghan Teresa 29 June 2015 (has links)
The purpose of this study is to develop a model that tests the impact of attendees' perceived importance of event design on their overall satisfaction of the event. By understanding what attendees' perceive as important and valuable to their overall experience, and thus enhancing their overall experience, researchers, planners, and managers alike will potentially have a tool for assessment and forecasting. Responses were collected from 373 participants who have attended a particular large music and gaming festival. The study found that the perceived value and importance of event design has a significant and positive effect on an event attendee's overall experience. This study has established a scale for planners and designers to implement in other event evaluation circumstances to allow for them to identify their weak links according to their customer base, and then enhance them in order to improve future event growth. / Master of Science

Asymptotic approaches in financial risk management / Approches asymptotiques en gestion des risques financiersGenin, Adrien 21 September 2018 (has links)
This thesis focuses on three problems from the area of financial risk management, using various asymptotic approaches. The first part presents an importance sampling algorithm for Monte Carlo pricing of exotic options in exponential Lévy models. The optimal importance sampling measure is computed using techniques from the theory of large deviations. The second part uses the Laplace method to study the tail behavior of the sum of n dependent positive random variables, following a log-normal mixture distribution, with applications to portfolio risk management. Finally, the last part employs the notion of multivariate regular variation to analyze the tail behavior of a random vector with heavy-tailed components, whose dependence structure is modeled by a Gaussian copula. As application, we consider the tail behavior of a portfolio of options in the Black-Scholes model

A Quantitative Assessment of Minerals of Toxicological Importance in Utah Fast FoodsWilliams, Lisa R. 01 May 1989 (has links)
X-ray flourescence (XRF) and atomic absorption spectrophotometry (AAS) measurements for manganese, iron, copper, and zinc were compared for 96 samples of 21 foods from different sources. Correlation coefficients were 0.94 for manganese, 0.99 for iron, 0.93 for copper, and 0.91 for zinc for XRF vs. AAS determinations.
Similiar comparisons were performed on 228 samples of fast foods purchased in Utah retail outlets. Correlation coefficients ranged from 0.91 for copper to 0.97 for iron and zinc. Comparisons of values generated by XRF for manganese, iron, copper, zinc, selenium, arsenic, and aluminum to values certified by the National Bureau of Standards indicated no significant differences by student's t tests.
The simultaneous multielement capabilities of XRF allowed for an extensive screening study for high levels of toxic minerals in the fast foods. Levels of selenium, arsenic, and aluminum in fast foods were determined by XRF. Inductively coupled plasma was used to screen for high cadmium levels since cadmium detection limits by XRF were too high to be of value.
