A expansão industrial e o desenvolvimento territorial na porção oeste do Município do Rio de Janeiro trazem inúmeras modificações no cenário socioeconômico da região e adjacências. O destaque de investimentos na indústria de transformação é a implantação da Companhia Siderúrgica do Atlântico (CSA), que se mostra como o maior empreendimento privado em realização no país. Investimentos públicos e privados no setor de infraestrutura estão previstos, considerando as características naturais e a localização geográfica privilegiada da região. A influência do porto de Itaguaí e a construção do Arco Metropolitano configuram um corredor de desenvolvimento com reflexos positivos logísticos e socioeconômicos, não só para o estado do Rio de Janeiro, mas também para outros estados brasileiros. Os impactos da reordenação do espaço urbano, com a possibilidade de incremento populacional nas proximidades do novo eixo rodoviário e industrial, tende a gerar um aumento da demanda por serviços no setor terciário. Dessa forma, o planejamento territorial se faz obrigatório, apoiado por geotecnologias. O objetivo da pesquisa foi atender às necessidades do setor habitacional, analisando fatores relevantes e condições favoráveis à implantação de novas construções habitacionais. Baseando-se em dados provenientes do censo do IBGE de 2010 e do Instituto de Urbanismo Pereira Passos (IPP), a Tecnologia da Informação integrada com os dados de mapas digitais e imagens de satélite de alta resolução (World View-2), permitiram uma análise geral do contexto do crescimento regional. Além da análise das variáveis existentes nos dados socioeconômicos, outras variáveis de pesquisa foram empregadas em ambiente SIG, tais como: segurança, proximidades de logradouros principais, existências de escolas e hospitais municipais e estaduais, distância dos centros industriais e de shopping. Após as análises multicriteriais de dados socioeconômicos e bases cartográficas, relatórios na forma de mapas foram emitidos, com a finalidade de orientar o poder público e as construtoras nas tomadas de decisões. / The industrial expansion and regional development in the western portion of the city of Rio de Janeiro bring many changes in the socioeconomic scenario of the region and surrounding areas. The highlight of investments in the manufacturing industry is the deployment of the Atlantic Steel Company (CSA), which shows how the largest private enterprise in achieving the country. Public and private investments in the infrastructure sector are expected, considering natural features and geographic location of the region. The influence of the port of Itaguaí and construction of the Metropolitan Ring configure a development corridor with positive socioeconomic and logistics, not only for the state of Rio de Janeiro, but also for other states. The impacts of reordering of urban space, with the possibility of increase in population near the new road and industrial axis, tends to generate increased demand for services in the tertiary sector. Thus, territorial planning are mandatory, supported by geo. The objective of this research was to meet the housing sector needs, analyzing relevant factors and conditions conducive to the deployment of new residential buildings. Based on data from the IBGE census of 2010 and the Pereira Passos Institute of Urban Planning (IPP), Information Technology integrated with data from digital maps and satellite images of high resolution (World View-2) allows a overview of the context of regional growth. Besides the analysis of existing variables in socioeconomic data, other research variables were used in a GIS environment, such as security, proximity to major thoroughfares, schools and hospitals stocks local, state and federal, distance from industrial centers and malls. After the multicriteria analysis of socioeconomic data and cartographic databases, reports in the form of maps were issued, in order to guide the government and the contractors in making decisions.

A ocupação urbana e industrial foi identificada e analisada ao longo de uma série temporal de aproximadamente 60 anos (1940 a 2005), apoiando-se na elaboração e análise do uso da terra do município. Essas etapas permitiram alcançar um diagnóstico da área de estudo atrelada a dados socioeconômicos e a identificação dos vetores de crescimento urbano-industrial para cada década da série temporal. A partir disso, foi desenvolvida a etapa de modelagem dinâmica espacial, utilizando-se um modelo de autômatos celulares para simular os cenários de uso da terra e obter prognósticos para a dinâmica urbana de Americana. Observou-se que a expansão urbano-industrial bem como a formação do contingente populacional do município acompanhou o processo de desenvolvimento do país, sendo o reflexo das políticas governamentais e do desempenho econômico e social que caracterizou cada período. Verificou-se também que o desenvolvimento industrial teve importante papel na ocupação urbana e no crescimento populacional, uma vez que impulsionou os fluxos migratórios que afluíram para o município. A ocupação da quase totalidade do território pela mancha urbana representa um entrave ao crescimento futuro da cidade. Entretanto, mantidas as características de uso e ocupação atuais, a dinâmica territorial deverá ser menor no curto e médio prazo, de acordo com a atual tendência de redução no ritmo de crescimento da população e, por conseqüência da área urbana, semelhante ao observado na maioria dos centros urbanos. Em suma, foram apontadas possíveis aplicações deste trabalho, além de sugestões, sobretudo relacionadas à etapa de modelagem, a qual constitui importante subsídio para o planejamento urbano. / Abstract: The aim of this research is to analyze the urban-industrial expansion process of Americana-SP town by means of geotechnologies. The urban and industrial occupation were identified and analyzed along a temporal series of approximately 60 years (1940 to 2005), based on the elaboration and analysis of land use. These stages allowed to achieve a diagnosis of studied area linked to socioeconomics information and the identification of vectors of urban-industrial growth for each decade of the temporal series. Next, the spatial dynamic modeling using a cellular automata model was developed to simulate land use scenarios and to obtain prognosis for the urban dynamics of Americana. It was observed that the urban-industrial expansion as well as the formation of population contingent followed the process of national development, reflecting governmental politicies and the economic and social performance that characterized each period. Furthermore, the industrial development had an important role on urban occupation and on population growth, since that impelled the rural-urban flows. The spread of urban areas in Americana municipality represents a hindrance to the future city growth. However, if the current land use and occupation trends are maintained the spatial dynamic would be small for the short and medium terms, according to actual tendency of decrease on population growth rates and consequently of urban areas, similar to that observed on the majority of urban centers worldwide. Finally, possible applications this work are pointed out, besides suggestions related to the advances in spatial modeling, since it constitutes an important tool for urban planning. / Mestre

Several documents have been presented outlining the methods incorporated by large multinational corporations in their plant location process. These methods contribute to our knowledge of how companies choose a location in which to locate a manufacturing operation. The role of the region or municipality in preparing an appropriate atmosphere to coordinate with an industry's specific requirements has not been widely examined. The objective of this research paper is to examine the role played by the Town of Ingersoll, Township of South-West Oxford and County of Oxford in Southwestern Ontario in preparing a suitable land, infrastructure and zoning regulations package to facilitate the requirement for a joint General Motors and Suzuki automotive assembly plant. Idag står världen inför nya typer av utmaningar för att möta hållbarhetsmål och nya behov somuppkommer. Många städer genomgår därför stora förändringar i utvecklingen där både förväntadeoch oväntade konsekvenser kommer att uppstå. Sedan Northvolt beslutade att etablera sig iSkellefteå år 2017, står staden inför den stora möjligheten att bli en pionjär stad för grön utveckling.Den nya utvecklingen har inte bara satt industrin på prov, utan även staden som helhet. Kommunensutmaning är att sprida budskapet om vad den kommande utvecklingen har att erbjuda, i hopp om attsätta fart på inflyttningen då kompetensbehovet är Skellefteås främsta utmaning idag. För att mötavisionerna kring utvecklingen behöver alla aktörer samverka för att bli en stad för grön elektrifiering.Välfungerande socialt kapital mellan offentlig sektor, industri, akademi och medborgare är enförutsättning för att skapa en framgångsrik utveckling.Arbetet utforskar hur en stad som genomgår en omfattande och snabb industriell expansionpåverkas. Genom att studera migrationsmönster ur “push and pull”-teorin undersöker arbetet hur detär möjligt att generera en ökad in-migration i olika målgrupper, som studenter eller hemvändare.Samtidigt som Skellefteå är beroende av att ha ett positiv inflyttningsnetto behöver även denuvarande invånarna bibehållas. Därför har intervjuer och en enkät genomförts för att få en tydligbild av styrkor och svagheter i utvecklingen av Skellefteå. Resultaten av enkäten och intervjuernaanalyserades och diskuterades genom en exemplifiering av de två teorierna push and pull och teorinom socialt kapital.Stora industriella expansioner av denna storlek skakar städerna till sin kärna, eftersom stadensidentitet och attribut ifrågasätts under denna typ av förändring. Vid en utveckling av denna storleksätts det sociala kapitalet på prov och beroende på dess effektivitet kan utfallen skilja sig åt. Stadentvingas väga olika faktorer mot varandra; ekonomiska, sociala och miljömässiga, då alla inte är möjligaatt upprätthålla till samma grad. Eftersom det största målet är att skapa en ökad in-migration till denexpanderande staden måste de pull-faktorer som finns och främjas ifrågasättas; Vad erbjuderegentligen Skellefteå? Arbetet identifierade sex möjliga grupper av in-migration; kontraurbanister,livsstilsmigranter, människor som flyttar för relationer/hemvändare, människor som flyttar förjobbmöjligheter, studenter och människor som flyttar för hållbarhetsskäl. Genom att lyfta fram enuppsättning av pull-faktorer specifikt för Skellefteå har staden den unika möjligheten att påverkamigrationsmönstren till deras behov och skapa en hållbar och attraktiv stad för den nuvarande ochframtida invånaren. / Today the world stands in front of the challenge of adapting to new demands, where solutions thatincrease sustainability are required. Many cities are therefore undergoing big changes indevelopments where both expected and unexpected consequences will arise. Since 2017, whenNorthvolt decided to establish in Skellefteå, the city stands in front of the opportunity to become apioneer city of green evolution. The new development has not only put the demands of the industryat test, but also the city as whole. The challenge of the municipality is how to spread the message ofwhat the upcoming development has to offer to boost the in-migration, as the need for competence isthe main challenge of Skellefteå today. To be able to fulfil and meet the visions of the transformation,all actors need to work together in becoming the green city of electrification. To create a successfuldevelopment, the overlapping collaboration between the government, industry, academia andcommunity needs to be of high quality and thus the social capital will increase.The thesis explores the effects of a city that undergoes a fast expansion. By studying migrationpatterns through push and pull theory, the thesis investigates how to generate an increasedin-migration in different target groups, such as students and returners. While Skellefteå is dependenton having a positive netto in-migration, the current residents also need to be maintained, thusinterviews and a questionnaire has allowed the thesis to obtain a clear picture of strengths andweaknesses of the development in Skellefteå. The results of the questionnaire and the interviews areanalysed and discussed through an exemplification of the two theories of push and pull and thetheory of social capital.Large industrial expansions of this size shake cities to their core, as the identity and attributes of thecity are questioned as they change. When dealing with a development of this size, the social capital isput to the test and depending on its effectiveness, the outcomes can differ. The city is forced to weighdifferent factors against each other, the benefits of accommodating economic, social andenvironmental factors are measured and prioritised as all are not possible to sustain. As the main goalis to create an increased in-migration to the expanding city, the pull factors available and promotedneed to be questioned; What is Skellefteå in fact offering? The thesis identified six possible groups ofin-migration; counterurbanists, lifestyle migrants, people moving for social ties/the returners, peoplemoving for job opportunities, students and people moving for sustainability reasons. By highlightingone set of pull factors, Skellefteå has the unique opportunity to influence the migration patterns totheir needs and create a sustainable and attractive city for the current and future residents.
