Sweet and savage: the world through the shockumentary film lens

Goodall, Mark D. January 2005 (has links)
No / The first ever English-language title devoted exclusively to the shocking, controversial and influential mondo documentary film cycle. "The Mondo Cane films were an important key to what was going on in the media landscape of the 1960s especially post the JFK assassination." J.G BALLARD Mondo Cane in 1962 was the blueprint for a shocking, controversial and influential documentary film cycle. Known collectively as 'mondo films' - or 'shockumentaries'" -this enduring series of films is a precursor of the Reality-TV show. A box-office draw for three decades and now a staple of the video rental market, these explosive 'exposés' would often pass fabricated scenes as fact in order to gave the public a sensationalist, highly emotive view of the world. SWEET & SAVAGE is the first ever English-language book devoted exclusively to the Mondo documentary film. A study of Mondo as a global film phenomenon, it includes a detailed examination of the key films and includes exclusive interviews with the 'godfathers' of this cult genre. Includes an exclusive interview with author J.G. Ballard.

Srb, Jaroslav January 2016 (has links)
Legal regime of a group company after recodification of private law in the CR This master thesis is devoted to the group of companies law in a broader sense of the business groups, including the terms influential entity and influence, after the recodification of private law in the Czech Republic. The thesis is composed of seven chapters. Chapter one briefly characterizes the term group of companies law, its two main models of regulation - the German and French approach, including the Rozenblum concept and a comparison of these two models. Subsequently, it presents the European regulation of the group of companies, along with its development and impact on the legal systems of the member states of the European Union. Lastly, a legal basis of the new legislation in the Business Corporations Act is considered. Chapter two describes certain legal terms of the Business Corporations Act, in terms of acting in concert and majority member. Chapter three defines the term and the characters of the group of companies in the sense of the business groups, and it also points to the reasons why the grouping occurs. Chapter four explores the essential elements of influential entity and influence as an institute that is applied within the particular types of the group of companies. In connection with the term...

"Jag har läst att många små flickor kan dö av biverkningarna" : En litteraturöversikt av faktorer som påverkar föräldrars attityder till humant papillomvirus vaccination / "I have read that a lot of little girls have died from the side effects" : Literature review as topic of factors that affect parents attitudes to human papillomavirus vaccine

Johansson, Elin, Karlsson, Ewelyn January 2019 (has links)
Background: HPV is the most common sexually transmitted infection in the world. Over half a million women in the world suffer from cervical cancer each year were HPV-virus is the primary reason. Parents attitudes towards HPV vaccine for their children played a crucial part in how many actually got provided with the HPV-vaccine. Parents chose not to vaccinate their children because of attitudes and stigma that was founded in environments and communities. Aim: To examine factors that affect parents attitudes about HPV vaccine to their children. Methods: The chosen method was a literature review as topic, to explore the chosen subject and analyzing suitable articles. The articles have been scientific, in English and with qualitative reasons. Results: The right information from nurses to parents led to positive attitudes, however, the lack of information regarding the safety and efficacy of the vaccine was a contributing cause of doubt among many parents. Economics, media attitudes, views on sex and fear of side effects affected the parents' choice to vaccinate their children. Opinions about the appropriate age of the child when obtaining the vaccine went apart. Conclusions: Parents' attitudes largely affected the percentage of children who were vaccinated. Increased parents’ knowledge regarding HPV and the effect of the vaccine would lead to a higher vaccination rate and thus improved health globally

Zákonné ručení v právu kapitálových společností / Statutory Secondary Liability in the Law of the Limited Companies

Vrba, Milan January 2014 (has links)
Particular cases of statutory secondary liability in the law of limited companies are relatively frequent. Forasmuch as a publication providing comprehensive analysis of the subject matter is still missing, the aim of the thesis is to offer thorough treatise of the issue in its whole broadness. The first chapter analyses the secondary liability as the institution of the general law of obligations. Fundamental features of the secondary liability are pointed out and respective rights and duties of the relevant parties are outlined. The issue of subrogation, joint secondary liability, termination of the secondary liability and statutory bar of the rights arising therefrom are discussed. The second chapter deals with the statutory secondary liability of the members (shareholders) of the limited companies. The thesis shows that both debts and claims of company may be subject to secondary liability of its shareholders. The third chapter focuses on the statutory secondary liability of the members of company bodies (directors). Besides primary liability for the harm caused, the company law punishes the director's failure to observe his or her duties by means of secondary liability for the company's debts as well. Particular cases are critically analysed. The fourth chapter concentrates on the statutory...

Comfort me : A qualitative study on the behaviour of Generation Y when purchasing the high-involvement product everyday bra.

Egger, Melissa, Walter, Natalie January 2019 (has links)
Background: It is an essential clothing piece for women, which is proven to enhance the consumers’ perception of themselves, namely a woman everyday bra. There seems to be a lack in recent research on women lingerie especially within the Generation Y. The complex purchase decision for the high-involvement product everyday bra in combination with the characteristics of this generation have a vital impact on their considerations. Purpose: The purpose of this thesis was to describe how Generation Y is considering the perceived influential factors in their purchase decision of the high-involvement product everyday bra. Thereby, an existing theory was extended by two new factors, namely psychosocial and physiological and tested on the Generation Y. To fulfil the purpose of this study, one research question was established. Method: An interpretivism philosophy was used as part of this study, along with an abductive approach. Descriptive research was conducted to analyse the qualitative data collected through 18 semi-structured in-depth interviews. To adequately reach the selected target population, a combination of convenient, judgmental and snowball sampling technique was employed. Conclusion: The empirical findings of this study suggest, that six factors are considered by Generation Y’s purchase decision. A remarkable recognition is given to comfort, followed by a high relevance of aesthetics and the remaining factors. This knowledge is highly relevant for lingerie companies, especially when considering the store layout and supplementary distribution channels such as e-commerce.

Insatser för unga lagöverträdare i Sverige : Vilka påverkande insatser används och varför?

Rudh, Liselott, Krigare, Eva-Catarina January 2019 (has links)
The purpose of the study was to find out if the influential arrangements that is given to convicted delinquents between 15-17 years old is practised because they have evidence or if it is based on other grounds. The research questions were answered with the help of a questionnaire and interviews. The questionnaire was sent to all 290 local authorities whereof 52 answered the questions. The result indicated difficulties to get information regarding which arrangements that is being used, the local authorities have various ways of working and the programs and/or routines they use make it hard to access statistics. The most common influential arrangements were programs made by the local authorities themselves, which brings difficulties with the evidence of treatment effects. Interviews were carried out with three persons from social services who work with delinquents. The results showed that the choices were made on the basis of guidelines if there were any available, otherwise out of a feeling or experience. The conclusion was that there often seems to be a consideration regarding the evidence of treatment effects when arrangements are chosen, but that the choice many times still occur based on other premisses.

Statistical Models of Market Reactions to Influential Trades

Guo, Yi-Ting 16 July 2007 (has links)
In this study, we consider high frequency transaction data of NYSE, and apply statistical methods to characterize each trade into two classes, influential and ordinary liquidity trades. First, a median based approach is used to establish a high R-square price-volume model for high frequency data. Next, transactions are classified into four states based on the trade price, trade volume, quotes, and quoted depth. Volume weighted transition probability of the four states are investigated and shown to be distinct for informed trades and ordinary liquidity trades. Furthermore, four market reaction factors are introduced and studied. Logistic regression models of the influential trades are established based on the four factors and odds ratios are used to select the cutoff points.

Contribution to the modelling of aircraft tyre-road interaction

Kiébré, Rimyalegdo 10 December 2010 (has links) (PDF)
This thesis is a part of the French national project called MACAO (Modélisation Avancée de Composants Aéronautiques et Outils associés). In collaboration with Messier-Dowty company (a landing gears manufacturer), the thesis has contributed to better understand the actual literature studies in the field of aircraft tyre-road interaction modelling and therefore, to help making an optimal choice of model for a specifie application. The objectives have been to propose models for representing the tyre behaviour on the ground with respect to the aircraft run types. Physical oriented models are preferred. To complete this study, a literature survey of the previous researches in tyre modelling for steadystate responses is first carried out. Then, based on the main factors playing an important role in tyre modelling, it is proposed a classification for the physical and the semi-empirical models, which are also investigated. Based on this classification, the study requirements and the measurement data constraints, an a priori choice of suitable models are studied. A further investigation of the tyre deformation at pure lateral slip is carried out. It has allowed to physically describe the mechanism of generation of the longitudinal component of the tyre force at pure lateral slip. This force is refened as induced longitudinal force. By taking this force into consideration, it has been possible to explain why the self-aligning moment can drop to zero before the tyre gets to full sliding at pure lateral slip. Besides, the sensitivity analysis is proposed as a means for determining the parameters that have most influence on the model output and thus, are responsible for the output uncertainty.
