An investigation of the relationship between young people's job seeking behaviour, self esteem and their esteem needs

James, Narissa, n/a January 1998 (has links)
In this study the relationship between young people's job seeking behaviour, self-esteem and their esteem needs was investigated. Young unemployed job seekers attended a four day personal development workshop (known as Positive Choices). The design of the study was a pretest-posttest control-group design. All participants completed a four part questionnaire, including a demographic data sheet, job seeking behaviour scale, (revised from Feather & Rowley, 1987 job search scale) esteem needs questionnaire and the Coopersmith Self-esteem Inventory. The results showed self esteem scores increased for the young job seekers who participated in the Positive Choices Intervention. A negative correlation was reported between self-esteem scores and job seeking behaviour for all participants. In addition the job seeking behaviour scores increased for the young job seekers after their participation in the Positive Choices Intervention. In terms of esteem needs, no differences were reported between esteem needs for the participant and control groups indicating that the importance of esteem needs remained unchanged. Furthermore, negative correlations were found between the length of time the young job seeker had been unemployed and their self-esteem scores, as well as between the job seeker's educational attainment and self esteem scores. The results suggests that changes in job seeking behaviour is related to changes in the young job seekers' self esteem. Suggestions for future research is discussed. Implications on counselling and a model for working with young job seekers is offered.

Teaching adaptive behaviour to 'behaviour problem' high school students : an exploratory study

Jasinksi, Jennifer Anne, n/a January 1986 (has links)
The purpose of this study was to determine whether the Adaptive Behaviour group intervention effected a greater immediate positive change on 'poorly adapted' student locus of control, self esteem, group evaluation and perceived behaviour than Helping Skills, Relaxation Training or No Intervention group after eight weeks. The three independent variables - Adaptive Behaviour, Helping Skills and Relaxation Training Group Interventions - were devised and led by the Researcher and two school counsellors respectively. Measurement of the dependent variables was by the use of the following instruments pre-test and post-test: Locus of Control Scale for Children (Nowicki Strickland 1972); Coopersmith Self Esteem Inventory (Coopersmith, 1982); and researcher designed questionnaires. A pre-test post-test group design was used in the study. The subjects were years 7-9 High School students identified by Student Year Advisers and the Assistant Principal Student Welfare as being 'poorly adapted' and 'well adapted' to the school environment. Students were randomly allocated - in year groups - to the intervention and control groups. Results indicated no short term significant positive change in locus of control for any intervention or controlgroup; no short term significant positive change in self esteem for any intervention group; no significant correlation between locus of control and self esteem scores for any intervention group; positive pre and post-test group evaluations for all groups; some positive short term change in teacher and student perceptions of student behaviour in regard to all three interventions. In some cases students' behaviour in the experimental group (Group A) was perceived more positively by teachers and students. Some recommendations for further research are: replication of the study over a longer period of time with some modification to the experimental programme, the research design and methods of measurement.

The relationship of personality factors to the educational orientation of adult educators

Hoogendoorn, Anne Roberta, n/a January 1989 (has links)
This research study was in the field of adult education, focusing on the role of adult educators. Sixty four adult educators in the Australian Capital Territory, from a wide range of institutions took part in the study. The educational orientation of the adult educators, on an andragogical-pedagogical continuum, was measured by The Educational Orientation Questionnaire, (Hadley, 1974). This test was based on Knowles, theory of andragogy "the art and science of helping adults learn" and its corollary, pedagogy, "the art of teaching children" (Knowles, 1985). The E.O.Q. tested adult educators' attitudes in six areas of education to discover the extent to which educators were more andragogical or pedagogical in their orientation. Four personality dimensions of adult educators were measured by The Personal Style Inventory (Champagne and Hogan, 1979) - a test based on Jung's theory of psychological types. The data was analysed and four null hypotheses were tested. Two were rejected and two were accepted. The findings revealed that there was a statistically significant correlation at the .01 level of significance, showing a definite relationship between two of the dimensions, extraversion-introversion and sensing-intuition, and the educational orientation of adult educators: extraversion and intuition with a more andragogical orientation and introversion and sensing with a more pedagogical orientation. The interpretation of these findings raised numerous questions and issues on the role of adult educators as well as recommendations for further research on the correlation of other variables with the educational orientation of adult educators.

Undersökning av svenska advokaters arbetssituation

Mesick, Tasha, Näsström, Jens January 2006 (has links)

A Feasibility Study of Setting-up New Production Line : Either Partly Outsource a process or Fully Produce In-House

Cheepweasarash, Piansiri, Pakapongpan, Sarinthorn January 2008 (has links)
<p>This paper presents the feasibility study of setting up the new potting tray production line based on the two alternatives: partly outsource a process in the production line or wholly make all processes in-house. Both the qualitative and quantitative approaches have been exploited to analyze and compare between the make or buy decision. Also the nature of business, particularly SMEs, in Thailand has been presented, in which it has certain characteristics that influence the business doing and decision, especially to the supply chain management. The literature relating to the forecasting techniques, outsourcing decision framework, inventory management, and investment analysis have been reviewed and applied with the empirical findings. As this production line has not yet been in place, monthly sales volumes are forecasted within the five years time frame. Based on the forecasted sales volume, simulations are implemented to distribute the probability and project a certain demand required for each month. The projected demand is used as a baseline to determine required safety stock of materials, inventory cost, time between production runs and resources utilization for each option. Finally, in the quantitative analysis, the five years forecasted sales volume is used as a framework and several decision making-techniques such as break-even analysis, cash flow and decision trees are employed to come up with the results in financial aspects.</p>

de Colli, Daniel January 2010 (has links)

Varulagervärdering : - En fallstudie av ett tillverkande företag / Inventory valuation : - A case study of a manufacturing company

Eriksson, Mona, Eriksson, Erika, Lindberg, Lina January 2010 (has links)
The main issue: </strong>How does the investigated company value it’s inventory? Do the investigated company have difficulties in valuing the inventory, if so, which? Can the investigated company’s inventory valuation be improved?</p><p><strong>Purpose: </strong>The purpose of the bachelor thesis is to describe and analyze inventory valuation in a manufacturing company. The thesis aims to investigate if difficulties arise in the inventory valuation in the investigated company and which they are. It also aims to investigate if the company’s inventory valuation can be improved.</p><p><strong>Method: </strong>In the thesis a qualitative method has been chosen. The frame of reference is composed of scientific literature and articles. The empirics are composed of personal interviews. The frame of reference and the empirics have been put against each other in the analysis for conclusions to be drawn.</p><p><strong>Conclusions: </strong>The investigated company conforms to the principles in BFNAR 2000:3 for the valuation of the inventory even if it doesn’t conform to the main principles. The company has some difficulties with the inventory valuation but these are not significant as the valuation system as a whole functions well. The improvements the company can make are to determine the value of the products at each processing step, become better at following up the pre calculations with after calculations, educate the operators for more accurate reporting and improve the valuation of monthly financial statements.</p>

Principer för lagerstyrning hos GNT Group / Principles for Inventory Management at the GNT Group

Berggren, Sara, Eriksson, John January 2004 (has links)
<p>GNT Group is a Nordic/Baltic wholesaler that distributes products in the IT, entertainment and home electronics sector. GNT is facing problems with inaccurate inventory levels which can lead to unnecessarily high inventory carrying costs or lost sales. Currently the decisions about when and how many to order are made somewhat arbitrarily by the responsible personnel. Their decisions are based only on some brief sales history and on experience. </p><p>GNT wants to develop its ERP system to be able to support the purchaser in these and other related decisions. The purpose of this thesis is to give suggestions to what decisions the ERP system should support and how these decisions can be made. </p><p>The three main tasks in this thesis are to suggest how to calculate the optimal order quantity, how to calculate the optimal ordering point and how to decide whether it can be profitable to store an article in only one of GNT’s warehouses. </p><p>The suggested solution is based on a volume value/demand frequency classification which also takes an item’s life cycle characteristics into consideration. For the different classes suitable calculations and decisions are suggested concerning the three main tasks and issues related to them.</p>

Att reducera lagernivån : en studie vid SKF Mekan AB / To reduce inventory : a study at SKF Mekan AB

Gustafsson, Charlotte, Jonasson, Ulrika January 2000 (has links)
<p>Background: The increasing competition on the market demand both companies and supply chains to find optimal solutions. The edeavour to reduce inventory levels is a part of this. Earlier, inventory was seen upon as valuable assets, but today they tend to be more and more negative in the eyes of the companies. Inventory demands capital, handling, and space. Therefore inventory creates unnecessary costs. As a consequence of this, firms try to reduce their inventories further and further. </p><p>Purpose: The purpose of this report is to examine different steps which can reduce the stock sizes at businesses in general and at SKF Mekan AB´s stock of packing, and what consequences this steps may lead to. </p><p>Performance: The examine has been made by interviews with persons at SKF Mekan AB and with persons at the suppliers of packing, and by litterature studies. </p><p>Result: To achieve the best result SKF Mekan AB, and other companies, ought to give priority to the steps which have great economic potential and a low grade of difficulty. SKF Mekan AB ought to focus on coordination against suppliers, ensure a correct system level of inventory, appreciate real uncertainty, improve the exchange of information and reduce unuseable packing. In general businesses ought to improve the exchange of information among them and external actors, stadardise and ensure that the inventory levels in the systems are correct.</p>

VMI - informationsutbyte i koncernrelationer

Lifvenforth, Erica, Lindvall, Anna, Wrejde, Therese January 2007 (has links)
