CALIFORNIA STATE UNIVERSITY SAN BERNARDINO WiN GPS

Ron, Francisco A 01 June 2015 (has links)
The objective of this masters project is to develop a working application for Android devices. This is an application intended to be used by CSUSB. It has its own database, which has information about most of the facilities on campus. There are many GPS applications on the market, however I chose to design and implement WiN GPS, short for Walking GPS, because it will allow the possibility of a personalized GPS for the school and for users should they choose to use it. In order to develop Win GPS it was necessary to research the available tools and to become familiar with the ones that were selected. These tools such as map application providers, i.e. Google-maps, integrated development environments, database managers, software development kits, and mobile device emulators were analysed and compared. Once the tools were selected. It was necessary to study, to become familiar with and to learn how to use them. Finally an application is developed and its main functions/code will be explained. This masters project will allow potentially Android developers to evaluate possible barriers, such as price and limitations of map applications providers, so they can make an informed decision.

Creating a distributed field robot architecture for multiple robots

Long, Matthew T 01 November 2004 (has links)
This thesis describes the design and implementation of a distributed robot architecture, Distributed Field Robot Architecture. The approach taken in this thesis is threefold. First, the distributed architecture builds on existing hybrid deliberative/reactive architectures used for individual robots rather than creating a distributed architecture that requires re-engineering of existing robots. Second, the distributed layer of the architecture incorporates concepts from artificial intelligence and software agents. Third, the architecture is designed around Suns Jini middleware layer, rather than creating a middleware layer from scratch or attempting to adapt a software agent architecture. This thesis makes three primary contributions, both theoretical and practical, to intelligent robotics. First, the thesis defines key characteristics of a distributed robot architecture. Second, this thesis describes, implements, and validates a distributed robot architecture. Third, the implementation with a team of mobile ground robots interacting with an external software "mission controller" agent in a complex, outdoor task is itself a contribution. The architecture is validated with three existence proofs. First, an example is presented to show the implementation of a basic sensor service. Second, a basic behavior is presented to validate the reactive portion of the architecture. Finally, an intelligent agent is presented to validate the deliberative layer of the architecture and describe the integration with the distributed layer.

People, poets, puppets: popular performance and the wong cilik in contemporary Java.

Curtis, Richard A. January 1997 (has links)
Many studies have analysed the ways in which the dominant forces of state and capital are shaping contemporary Indonesian political economy, social relations and cultural production. More and more of such studies have evaluated the significance of the "middle class(es)" as a burgeoning social force. Few studies specifically address the social agency of the subordinated classes, the bulk of Indonesia's population, identified as the wong cilik in this study. Only recently have some scholars begun to take seriously the rapid formation of an urban working class as an increasingly important component in Indonesian social dynamics. An underlying assumption of this study is that cultural production, in particular, popular performance, is an important window on, and component of, wong cilik social agency. This assumption is pursued by observing three principal sites of cultural contestation, poetry, the shadow play, wayang kulit, and "modem" theatre. These three, often overlapping sites, are set within a broad survey of popular performance in Java, followed by a regional focus on Tegal, located on the north west coast of Central Java.A bias in analysis towards the more formal and visible aspects of cultural production, such as performance text and conventions, has led to a distortion and insufficient recognition of wong cilik social agency. The first task of this study, therefore, is to develop a better approach to identifying and evaluating wong cilik cultural agency. The approach for which we are looking demands attention be given to the less formal aspects and social context of popular performance. Here, the relationship between performance and audience is central to identifying the cultural agency of the wong cilik. Depending on the surrounding social relations which constitute the performance, space can exist for wong cilik control over cultural production and meaning ++ / through audience participation.During the course of a performance the social significance of its changing nature is closely associated with changes in audience composition and involvement. An absent, indifferent, sometimes hostile, wong cilik audience can undermine the potential of formal moments to reinforce dominant ideologies and social relations. Conversely, heightened audience participation often characterises the informal moments of a performance. The possibility of social potency is greatest in these moments of close affinity between wong cilik audience and performance. This is apparent in the relationship between audience and dalang (puppeteer) in many local performances of wayang kulit. The informal 'comic interlude', in particular, can provide opportunity for the articulation of shared meanings and concerns between the predominantly wong cilik audience and sympathetic dalang, dependent on their patronage and coming from a similar socio-economic background. As part of the intelligentsia, the dalang, as with other cultural workers, has an important, often ambiguous, role in determining the significance of cultural production for the wong cilik. Here, it is important to recognise that the cultural workers, themselves, and their performances are socially constituted. In a study on theatre in Tegal observations of audience participation assist greatly in evaluating the effectiveness or sincerity in representing or asserting wong cilik sentiment in "modern" theatre and populist wayang mbeling. In general, this focus on audience participation helps situate popular performances in their surrounding social relations. This approach helps avoid elitist or essentialist tendencies that may occur from an over emphasis on the idealised characteristics and conventions of cultural forms or genres.

Pentecostalism in Urban Java: a Study of Religious Change, 1980-2006

Mark Robinson Unknown Date (has links)
This thesis explores the reasons for religious change to Pentecostal Christianity in urban Java during the late twentieth and early twenty-first centuries. It investigates the conversion trend to Pentecostal forms of Christianity that has taken place in recent decades in the cities of Java. Why some of Java’s Muslim urbanites, particularly young traditionalist Javanese Muslims of lower and middle class status, have converted to this ecstatic expression of Christianity since 1980 is the focus of this study. The thesis considers the utility of current social science theories that emphasise social, cultural, political and selected religious factors, to understanding this conversion trend in urban Muslim Java. Socio-political factors, particularly political and social crises, rapid urbanisation, and state support for monotheistic religions; and selected religious factors, mainly delimited religious pluralism and reaction to Islamic extremism, produced a climate in urban Java conducive to conversion to this indigenous, moderately strict, this-worldly focussed and modern Christian movement. While this thesis demonstrates the utility of current social science explanations, it argues that these explanations, which rely solely on socio-political and some religious factors external to the converts, do not fully explain why some of the Muslim inhabitants of the cities of Java have converted to Pentecostal Christianity over other religions, and over other forms of Christianity. I argue that existing social science theory be extended to be more inclusive of specialised aspects of the Pentecostal movement. These specific characteristics are considered under the schema of ‘religious experiences and movement specificities’ (REMS), and are particularly concerned with the role of Pentecostal worldview, religious experiences, community and institutional aspects in conversion. This thesis demonstrates the value of an integrated approach to the scientific study of the reasons for religious conversion, one that considers the contribution of external socio-political forces and inner subjective religious experiences, personal faith aspects and specificities of movements.

Intergiciels systèmes pour passerelles de services ambiants

Frenot, Stephane 02 December 2008 (has links) (PDF)

Zanconi, Marcelo 22 June 2004 (has links) (PDF)
