Baigiamajame magistro darbe nagrinėjamos vartotojo sąsajos, naudojančios vektorinę grafiką, integracijos su ekspertinėmis sistemomis galimybės. Apžvelgti esami integracijos sprendimai, ekspertinių sistemų kūrimo metodai. Nagrinėjama JESS sistemos architektūra. Aprašomos vektorinės grafikos kūrimo sistemos. Praktinėje baigiamojo magistro darbo dalyje pateikiamas integracijos prototipas. Išnagrinėjus teorinius ir praktinius aspektus, pateikiamos baigiamojo darbo išvados ir pasiūlymai. Darbą sudaro 5 dalys: įvadas, analitinė dalis, tiriamoji dalis, išvados ir siūlymai, literatūros sąrašas. / The MA thesis examined the possibilities of user interface, which uses vector graphics, integration of expert systems, reviewed the existing integrated solutions, expert systems development methods. MA thesis examines JESS system architecture, describes the creation of vectorgraphics systems. The practical part provides a prototipe of integration. Afterwards the conclusions and recommendations are given. The work consists of five parts: introduction, analytical part, research, conclusions and suggestions, references.

The work explore development approaches and knowledge-based achtectures aiming to SADDEM build, a multi-agent system applyed to decision making in ore unload cells. The particularities of cognitives agents structures are based on Jess inference engine in order to link decisions and maintain plans recommendations made by the system. The ontology is developed throught elicitation of information and knowledge during interviews and VV311-K01 car positioner set operating activities. The artifacts produced during the development clycle phases employs PASSI methodology technics, Artificial Intelligence and support engineering to software development using JADE framework. The real time module is linked to the software of supervision and monitoring of the unloading cell productions of VALE. / Este trabalho apresenta a modelagem e implementação de um aplicação multiagente para a seleção de falhas e tomada de decisão em viradores de vagões da VALE. A proposta investiga abordagens de desenvolvimento e arquiteturas baseadas no conhecimento para criação do SADDEM, um sistema multiagente aplicado ao apoio a decisão em células de descarga de minério. As particularidades das estruturas cognitivas de agentes são baseadas no mecanismo inferência Jess, objetivando encadear decisões e recomendações de planos de manutenção feitas pelo sistema. A ontologia do sistema é elaborada por meio das informações e conhecimento eliciados durante entrevista e atividades operacionais referentes ao conjunto carro posicionador observadas no equipamento virador de vagões VV311- K01. Os artefatos produzidos durante as fases do ciclo de desenvolvimento têm a aplicação das técnicas da metodologia PASSI, Inteligência Artificial e das engenharias de apoio ao desenvolvimento de software com uso do framework JADE. O módulo de tempo real do sistema está vinculado ao software de supervisão e monitoramento das células de produção do setor de descarga de minério da VALE.

Making sustainable interior design education practical is critical to the survival of the planet. The essential of today's interior designer is to provide built enviornments that sustain the life of a building's occupants and the life in and around the built environment. Therefore, interior design departments are interweaving the principles and theories related to sustainable interior design into their pedagogical programs. However, there exists a void between the teachings of the theories and values related to sustainable design and putting them into practice. With the possibility of climante change looming over us, interior design students must reach a significant level of proficiency as quickly as possible in the area of understanding how to implement the principles and strategies of sustainable design into every phase of the design process. The environmental crisis is a design crisis.

PROTOTYPE OF AN INTELLIGENT TUTORING SYSTEM USING THE JAVA EXPERT SYSTEM SHELL

In a technology driven world, efforts are being made to make education/learning available to individuals at any time with no compromise in the quality of teaching/training. To make learning flexible, different techniques such as distributing learning material, uploading audio lectures on the web, and creating intelligent tutoring systems (ITS) are being used. The technique considered here is an adaptive ITS, a system that replicates the learning that occurs in a student teacher relationship. This thesis develops an adaptive intelligent tutoring system architecture prototype where the addition, modification and removal of educational material are relatively easy. The resulting software will take into account: the goals of the specific educational experience, the concepts to be covered, the preferred learning style of the student, measures to detect misuse of the system functionality, behavior based on the student's performance and the generation of hint sequences and feedback messages to improve learning gain. The system will accomplish these objectives by assessing the student's prior knowledge level, observing the actions performed by the student and by adapting to his/her learning abilities. The ITS will attempt to be more intelligent by performing some actions traditionally done by a human teacher - such as diagnosing misconceptions, identifying the most suitable learning style, stressing concepts that the student is finding difficult to understand, switching back to the learning material if the student shows no improvement after a set of trials. The system makes sure that the student is getting feedback where appropriate. Using this prototype system, the student will be tutored to acquire declarative knowledge. A problem based learning (PBL) approach will be used to strengthen the acquired knowledge by providing a high degree of personal attention to the student. To show how the prototype system works, an example of analysis of a control system problem using bode plot technique will be used to assist the student in using the technique to perform the stability analysis of an analog, linear, time-invariant control system problems and to recommend a controller to attain stability (if the system is not stable). Ideas of porting the system from standalone to web-based architecture and features required for collaborative learning will be discussed and an architecture for a web-based tutoring system for supporting multiple students enabling communication between students and sharing data among them will be proposed. / Electrical and Computer Engineering

Developing an Affordable Authoring Tool For Intelligent Tutoring Systems

"Intelligent tutoring systems (ITSs) are computer based tutoring systems that provide individualized tutoring to the students. Building an ITS is recognized to be expensive task in terms of cost and resources. Authoring tools provide a framework and an environment for building the ITSs that help to reduce the resources like skills, time and cost required to build an intelligent tutoring system. In this thesis we have implemented the Cognitive Tutor Authoring Tools (CTAT) and performed experiments to empirically determine the common programming errors that authors tend to make while building an ITS and study what is hard in authoring an ITS. The CTAT were used in a graduate class at Worcester Polytechnic Institute and also at the 4th Summer school organized at the Carnegie Mellon University. Based on the analysis of the experiments we suggest future work to reduce the debugging time and thereby reduce the time required to author an ITS. We also implemented the model tracing algorithm in JESS, evaluated its performance and compared to that of the model tracing algorithm in TDK. This research is funded by the Office of Naval Research (Grant # N00014-0301-0221)."

<p>Developing a model of a service system and mobile units including cellphone, PDA, Laptop is an important preliminary step of designing the systems which could provide these units some convenient and entertainment services through common short range communication like blue tooth, wireless LAN, etc. </p><p>In this project, an ontology is created to represent this model. Meanwhile, some basic service rules are also programmed and combined with this ontology can be used to simulate some interactions between items inside this model. </p><p>The description of this model (ontology) has been made through Protégé and demonstrated by using its graphical interface. The rules have been created by using Jess and implemented with the ontology by using JessTab.</p>

Integrating Expert System and Geographic Information System for Spatial Decision Making

Spatial decision making is a process of providing an effective solution for a problem that encompasses semi-structured spatial data. It is a challenging task which involves various factors to consider. For example, in order to build a new industry, an appropriate site must be selected for which several factors have to be taken into consideration. Some of the factors, which can affect the decision in this particular case, are air pollution, noise pollution, and distance from living areas, which makes the decision difficult. The geographic information systems (GIS) and the expert systems (ES) have many advantages in solving problems in their prospective areas. Integrating these two systems will benefit in solving spatial decision making problems. In the past, many researchers have proposed integrating systems which extracts the data from the GIS and saves it in the database for decision making. Most of the frameworks which have been developed were system dependent and are not properly structured. So it is difficult to search the data. This thesis proposes a framework which extracts the GIS data and processes it with the help of ES decision making capabilities to solve the spatial decision making problem. This framework is named GeoFilter. This research classifies various types of mechanisms that can be used to integrate these two systems.
