Läslust i skolan : En studie om hur elever i årskurs 2 motiveras till att läsa skönlitterära böcker / Joy of Reading at school. : A study of how students in second grade are motivated to read literary books at school.

Olofsson, Linda January 2015 (has links)
Abstract The aim of the study is to investigate what the concept of “love of reading” means and how selected teachers act strategically to increase the love of reading in pupils in grade two. The Swedish concept of love of reading (läslust) has not always had the same meaning; in the past it was used in connection with the desire to pursue further studies, while the term is used today when talking about pupils’ own will to read books. The ability to read is a significant part of a pupil’s schooling, and therefore it is important to work to ensure that pupils love reading. Based on qualitative interviews with both teachers and pupils, the results show that teachers’ knowledge plays a significant part for how pupils are motivated to read. The strategies the teachers use to increase the pupils’ love of reading can be traced back to earlier research showing that these strategies are good for stimulating a love of reading among pupils in the early grades of school. Strategies that emerge in this investigation are mainly book selections, readings, discussions literature and the silent individual reading. The pupils expressed a desire for more support in their choice of books and wanted teachers to be greater role models for them when it comes to reading in school. One conclusion of the study is that motivation and reading comprehension are two phenomena, which play an important part in acquiring a love of reading.

Era uma vez a liberdade / Once upon a time freedom

Fernanda Inácio Eduardo Guzmán 19 August 2013 (has links)
Starting from the experience of the researcher as a teacher in a constructivist school and their disappointments with the promises of joy and freedom that, throughout his training, deposited in this pedagogical method, this research seeks to put in perspective - inspired by some ideas of Baruch Spinoza - another idea of joy and freedom, as well as outlining some implications that this new approach could bring the school to think beyond constructivism. Without the intention to propose a method, the research tested some aspects of the displacement that we understand how joy and freedom. The findings of the study show that the tortuous path full of obstacles and for a school life is as happy and free as possible that would be able to bring out, encourage and develop the unique power of their students and teachers, led by their nature.

Music as a tool in pre-school

Micheletti Edberg, Maida January 2010 (has links)
The purpose of this essay is to consider the significance of music regarding the development of pre-school children in general. With interviews and observations in four pre-schools in the region of Skåne, Sweden, I have exmined the levels of significance that the teachers believe the music has on pre-school children in general. Further on, I looked into how the teachers use the music in their work and in what purpose. From the results of my research it seems that the music has an important significance on the development of the child, both concerning the language developoment and the motory development. During the interviews it turned out that the teachers used the music on purpose, both as a method and as a tool in order to stimulate the development of the language and the physical movements. An other important reason to use music in pre-school is that it creates joy, happiness and it strenghen the bondings within a group of children. In adition the music may be an exelent way to let the child to express its feelings and creativity.

Women Becoming: a Feminist Critical Analysis of Mother-Daughter Relationships in Amy Tan's "The Joy Luck Club" and "The Kitchen God's Wife"

Curton, Carman C. 12 1900 (has links)
This analysis of Tan's first two novels reveals that her female characters suffer from the strains critics like Amy Ling say result from the double paradox of filling the roles of mother or daughter as minority women in a white, male society. Recognizing this double paradox offers Tan's characters, and her readers, the opportunity to resolve the conflicts between mothers and daughters in The Joy Luck Club. Using the theories of psychologist Kathie Carlson helps readers understand how the protagonist of The Kitchen God's Wife resolves similar conflicts with her daughter and her own mother by seeking support from a mythic mother-figure, a Goddess of her own making.
