Vliv školy na hodnocení životní spokojenosti mladých lidí / The influence of school on the evaluation of life satisfaction of young peopleSpitzerová, Markéta January 2021 (has links)
and keywords in English The diploma thesis deals with the relationship between pupils' overall life satisfaction and school climate. In this work school climate is represented by four aspects: pupils' sense of security, social relations at school, school success and career planning. Another question which has been analysed is whether the pupils' life satisfaction is affected by the type of school. The relationships were verified on the data from the PISA survey from 2018 using hierarchical linear models. A significant association between the type of school and the pupils' overall life satisfaction has been present only when there were no other variables in the model that would describe the school climate. Another important phenomenon is a relationship between pupils' overall life satisfaction and relationships at school (not only with classmates, but also with teachers). Model 2 shows that good relationships with classmates and teachers could also be a weak moderator of the relationship between the negative experience of bullying and pupils' life satisfaction. In the analysis a positive association between academic achievements and life satisfaction was identified only when the academic achievements were represented by marks, not by the average reading literacy score. In this work the conclusions...

The effects of locus of control on the relationship between organisational climate and job satisfaction, life satisfaction and self-esteem in a call centre.Dladla, Thandi 23 June 2009 (has links)
The 21st century is characterised by a rapid technologically advancing environment, where
organisations constantly change to gain and maintain a competitive advantage. The use of
call centres in organisations has been in line with this technological advancement. South
African organisations have not been an exception as they also have experienced the growth in
call centres in the past few decades. Some of the benefits the business gains from the use of
call centres include cutting costs and increased profits. However benefits to individuals
working in call centres is not that obvious. Call centres have been labelled with such
nicknames as electronic Sweatshops as they are characterised by poor working conditions, as
individuals have to perform extremely routine tasks under extreme surveillance and harsh
performance management systems. Such an environment has implications for the well being
of individuals working in them. Previous research has indicated a relationship between
organisational climate and employee well being. While this environment is viewed as toxic
individuals continuously enter into it and some prosper than other, which brings into question
whether the amount of control an individual perceives to have over his/her environment has
any effect on their perception of the organisational climate. The main aim here is that work
can be redesigned to benefit both the organisation and employees’ needs in the workplace.
Therefore the aim of the current study is to investigate the organisational climate apparent in
call centres, also looking at the relationship this construct has with Job Satisfaction, Life
satisfaction and self esteem for call centre agents. The current research will also look at
whether Locus of Control has an effect on this relationship. The findings of this research
prove invaluable in its attempt to create awareness of the nature of work activities and quality
of work life of call centre agents.
The sample consisted of 97 call centre agents working in Johannesburg, South Africa. The
results indicate there is a strong positive relationship between organisational climate
including its subscales and Job Satisfaction, a weak and positive relationship between
organisational climate and its subscale and Life satisfaction, while there was no observed
relationship between organisational climate and self esteem. Furthermore the results
indicated that Locus of Control does not moderate the relationship between organisational
climate and job satisfaction, life satisfaction and self esteem.

Gratitude Training for Promoting Subjective Well-Being: A Randomized Controlled Trial Comparing Journaling to a Personalized Menu ApproachDeichman, Conner Lee 21 June 2023 (has links) (PDF)
Research suggests a link between gratitude and subjective well-being exists. Research on gratitude practices have shown to increase gratitude, subjective well-being, and other related outcomes. However, the efficacy of gratitude practices may be limited by the rote application of the gold standard gratitude practice--the gratitude journal. Such findings suggest that a more comprehensive, adaptable, and flexible gratitude practice may be needed. This study examined the efficacy of the My Best Self 101 (MBS101) gratitude module: an online gratitude resource that provides psychoeducation about gratitude along with a menu of empirically based gratitude practices. Using a randomized controlled design method, this study compared using the MBS101 gratitude module to using a gratitude journal for 21 days. The sample consisted of 225 adults recruited online and through university research systems. Seemingly unrelated regression models were used to analyze gratitude and subjective well-being outcomes between groups as well as the interaction between time spent on gratitude practice and group assignment. Compared to the gratitude journaling group, the MBS101 group had significantly better outcomes on gratitude and subjective well-being. Additionally, when the time and group interaction was added, the MBS101 group had greater increases in benefits for gratitude and subjective well-being with increased time spent. Further research is required to support these findings.

Hope as a Process in Understanding Positive Mood and Suicide Protection: A Test of the Broaden-and-Build ModelChang, Edward C., Jiang, Xinying, Tian, Weiyi, Yi, Shangwen, Liu, Jiting, Liang, Pengwei, Liang, Yongyi, Lai, Siyu, Shi, Xiaoxuan, Li, Mingqi, Chang, Olivia D., Hirsch, Jameson K. 01 January 2020 (has links)
Background: According to the broaden-and-build model of positive mood, positive emotions are believed to broaden cognition resources and build psychological resiliency, to help incur positive psychological outcomes. Aim: We examined hope as a potential mediator of the association between positive mood and suicide protection (viz., life satisfaction and reasons for living) in adults. We hypothesized that positive mood would be associated with greater suicide protection through broadening hope agency and building hope pathways. Method: A sample of 320 college students completed measures of positive emotions, hope, and suicide protection. Results: Results from bootstrapped mediation testing indicated that hope agency, but not hope pathways, partially or fully mediated the relationship between positive mood and suicide protection. Limitations: It is not clear whether these findings are generalizable to a more diverse adult population. Also, it is not possible to rule out alternative causal models involving positive emotions and suicide protection. Conclusion: These findings provide some promising preliminary evidence for how positive emotions might help build hope agency to foster greater suicide protection in adults.

The rise of social media has led to an increase in social media use and social media addiction. Research has found that social media addiction is influenced by various factors, and this study looks to examine the relation between social media addiction and users' life satisfaction, personality type and age group; and whether the type of social media platform moderates this relationship. This study dispersed survey questionnaires and conducted an ANCOVA to analyze the results. Results found that life satisfaction and social media addiction are negatively related, but the negative relation is larger for Twitter users. Results also found a positive correlation between Extraversion and Twitter users, and a negative correlation between Extraversion and Non-Snapchat users. There was no relation found for non-Twitter users and Snapchat Users and Extraversion. Additionally, this study found that Neuroticism and social media addiction are positively related. However, this relation is stronger for Twitter users. Finally, this study found that younger generations report more social media addiction across social media platforms except Facebook and TikTok. Suggesting that there is no relation between social media addiction and one's generation for Facebook and TikTok users.

The Effectiveness of a Signature Strengths Intervention on Maternal Well-Being Among Mothers of Children with AutismPoole, Tawni Nicole 07 December 2023 (has links) (PDF)
Mothers of children with autism face unique challenges that can negatively impact their well-being. Frequently, these challenges require elevated amounts of time, energy, and money to address. In an effort to investigate a low-demand approach to improving well-being, this study employed a signature strengths intervention with mothers of children with autism. Thus far, research on signature strengths with this specific population is very limited. Five mothers of children with autism participated in the study. All were married and highly educated. Four identified themselves as white, one as Hispanic. They ranged in age from 25-44. Each mother had between one and three children with autism. The participants attended an online meeting with the researcher after identifying their strengths. During the meeting, they discussed ways they already used their strengths, as well as more ways they might use them in the future. The participants then entered a four-week practice period. Each week they focused on one strength, aiming to use each strength in three new ways over the allotted seven days. The participants completed surveys to measure parental distress and life satisfaction at three points: baseline, immediately after a four-week intervention phase, and one month after the end of the intervention phase. Additionally, they answered a daily question that queried life satisfaction on a Likert-scale throughout the baseline and intervention phases. Overall, the group reported a decrease in parental distress and an increase in their level of life satisfaction and daily satisfaction. These results add to other research that has found beneficial outcomes for mothers of children with autism who are taught to use their strengths more often. The use of signature strengths interventions could help to address a critical need among this group of mothers: mental health support that does not require excessive effort or time.
