Lingvistiniai, pragmatiniai ir kognityviniai leksinio pakartojimo aspektai literatūriniame diskurse / The linguistic, pragmatic and cognitive aspects of lexical repetition in literary discourse

Tonkich, Dmitrij 25 May 2005 (has links)
[to full text]

Negotiation and instrumentalisation : the reception of 'the tragic' in modern Chinese literary discourse, 1917-1949

Gu, Tian January 2017 (has links)
This study examines how the concept of tragedy has been introduced and has negotiated itself into modern Chinese literary discourse during a time period of thirty-two years from 1917 to 1949. Taking into consideration the simultaneous development of a modern Chinese literary tradition, this study concentrates on the relationship between the discourse on one particular genre and the discourse on literature as a whole during the process of reception of an alien literary concept and its influence on indigenous literature. Modern Chinese intellectuals interpret the concept of tragedy from two main aspects: one is in the theatrical domain where tragedy functions as a dramatic form closely related to the emergence of a new genre in Chinese literature, namely, the spoken drama (huaju); the other is in the aesthetic domain where tragedy (or more specifically, the tragic) operates as a literary or philosophical idea and offers possibilities for the development of this notion in non-dramatic literature. This dual-focus approach is fundamental in the formation of a modern Chinese discourse on tragedy, as a paralleled line of arguments concerning these two aspects remains visible in the modern period. The major influence from foreign intellectual tradition on modern Chinese perception of tragedy takes the shape of two pairs of different perspectives, namely, literary utilitarianism and literary aestheticism in theoretical discussions, corresponding to realism and romanticism in literary creativity. These two pairs of perspectives set the tone for modern Chinese understanding of the concept of tragedy: literary utilitarianism and literary aestheticism focus respectively on the foremost importance of tragedy’s practical utility in social progression, or of tragedy’s aesthetic function to offer emotional cleansing to the audience; realism and romanticism debate the intricate relation between tragedy and social reality that besieged several generations of writers throughout the Republican era. It is noticeable that these viewpoints have not developed in a balanced way, as a pragmatic realist perspective has prevailed in both theory and practice, while the aesthetic/romantic pursuit being either rejected or incorporated into the ultimate thematic concern with social reformation and national salvation. This study abstracts the idea of the tragic from its dramatic form in examining the cross-genre and multidisciplinary development of the concept of tragedy in modern Chinese literary tradition. The main body of the thesis contains four chapters. The first chapter sets the scope of this study by clarifying several terminologies that are key to approach the long-lasting debates on whether there is a Chinese tragedy in 20th-century Chinese literary discourse. The second chapter focuses on the period of the New Culture Movement from 1917 to 1927, when the counter-traditional and iconoclastic agenda dominates the overall literary field and associates tragedy largely with literature’s functional role in social criticism. The third chapter examines theories and writings produced from 1928 to 1937, when the perspective of pragmatic realism prevails the reading of the tragic due to the strengthened connection between literature and politics. The fourth chapter centres on the wartime literary expression of the tragic from 1937 to 1949, when the Anti-Japanese War homogenises the literary subjects with an overt and unified political theme to inspire the people with optimism and fighting spirit. By exploring the possible factors that differentiate modern Chinese tragic perception from its foreign counterparts, this study investigates and demonstrates the constant interplay among several cultural, social, and political factors in affecting the formation of a modern critical discourse on tragedy.

A expressividade das criações lexicais em Galáxias, de Haroldo de Campos / The expressiveness of lexical creations in Galáxias, by Haroldo de Campos

Ignez, Alessandra Ferreira 10 October 2012 (has links)
Word formation, often, results from the need of denominating new concepts, objects. It is verified that the speaker, knowing how his/her language works, creates new lexical units in order to meet his/her need to name, using, then, the denominative neology. However, Guilbert states that, when a new word emerges from the want of the speaker express differently an idea already known, showing a particular way of seeing the world, it is done the use of stylistic or literary neology. Those are the two types of neology mentioned by the author. The difference between them can be explained as follows: in the first case, the communicative property of the neologism is explored and, in the second, its expressive potential. It is noted, however, that formation processes are the same in both cases, but the intents that lead to the production of a new word are different. In literary discourse, there are authors who use stylistic neologisms in order to give expressiveness to their texts. Thinking of doing a research about lexical literary formations, we decided to make a research about creations in Galáxias, by Haroldo de Campos, because this literary work offers us a wide range of neologisms resulting from more than one word formation process. Therefore, the goal of this study is understand the expressiveness of lexical creations in Galáxias, specifically the syntagmatic creations, and verify also the word formation processes used by the author.

Márcio José da Silva 18 August 2016 (has links)
The aim of this work is to analyse the imaginary formation of João Cabral de Melo Neto in The Death and Life of a Severino in order to verify the usual discourse that he is the poet of reason, reinforced not only by critics and scholars of his work, but even by the writer himself in various interviews. To achieve so, we use some concepts of the French Discourse Analysis, namely, discourse, interdiscourse, discursive formation, ideological formation and imaginary formation, which we discuss with abundant explanations and apply to three parts of the drama-poem The Death and Life of a Severino: a Pernambuco Christmas play by comparing between an irrationalist ideological formation and a rationalist ideological formation. It was also necessary to explain the meaning of the term reason in philosophy, which is not homogeneous; however, we have to take it from a rationalist discursive formation, i.e., like a platonic idea, for, only this way the discourse João Cabral is the poet of reason could make sense. From that perspective, antidiscursive at first, we verify the plausibility of the said imaginary formation of the Pernambucan poet; otherwise, we would have to analyse the discourse reason is a universal, more distant from a relation to literary discourse and the poet. Based on the theory and methodological procedure of Discourse Analysis, our conclusion goes against a thinking tradition, for the existing discourses in the most famous work of that artist reveal the interpellation from irrationalist discursive formations. Besides these aspects, we make a comparison between philology and Discourse Analysis and we demonstrate the reflections of each in the reading of discursive sequences; we still present some contributions that Discourse Analysis can offer as a new literary criticism.

January 2007 (has links)
Abstract: This paper presents "A estória de Lélio e Lina" by Guimarães Rosa analysis, focusing on the observation of the relation between female characters of this narrative and those of Grande Sertão: Veredas. The narrative structure analysis is centered on elements that relate it to the lyrical novel definition, proposed by Jean-Yves Tadié. It is noticed that poetry and myth have great importance to the author's arthistic composition: the space - Pinhém's farm - is, indeed, a magical mythical space, bringing back the paradise lost archetype; narrative time is circular, suggesting a non-time or primordial time idea, of origin of things; the narrator, despite of being an exterior narrator, follows the protagonist's vision, assuming lyrical-self characteristics. Also, it is made a comparison between each one of the female characters associated to Lélio - Sinhá Linda, Jiní and Rosalina - and each one of those associated to Riobaldo - Otacília, Nhorinhá and Diadorim. This analysis intends to elucify which part those female characters play in the protagonists' quest, exposing similarities between Lélio's and Riobaldo's path. / Doutor

The Semiotics theory looks forward to describe the meaning process manifested in texts. Those are understood as a sensse’s totality. This theory proposes a theoric model containing three hierarquical levels in different levels of abstraction and compleity: fundamental, narrative and discoursive. the present analysis focuses on the discoursive level while observing how the person, space and time’s categories well as themes and figures are organized in the short story. Sant’Anna’s short story is written as if it were a letter. It narrates Beatriz’s fantasies, and memories after a single sexual date with Carlos, to whom the letter is adressed to. The letter’s main aim is to comprehend how this narrative, in which the writing process is discussed and analysed on it’s themes, is built

Bellehumeur, Guillaume 08 1900 (has links)
This thesis is devoted to the analysis of the situationnist discourse in the work of Quebec author Réjean Ducharme. We analyse more closely three novels: Le nez qui voque (1967) L’hiver de force (1973) and Dévadé (1990). Assuming that Ducharme could have had contact with the ideas of a French counter-cultural group named Internationale situationniste (1957-1972), we try to pick up similitudes between them and analyse the ways those have an effect on Ducharme’s work. Our comparative micro-textual analysis is divided in three parts. First we address their vision of the role art should have in society as well as their resistance to its institutionalization. We then address the ducharmian and situationnist conceptions of the city and its organization, both being very similar. Finally we analyse the economic and political discourses in our corpuses insisting on the way Ducharme’s characters as well as the members of the Internationale situationniste resist to the capitalist and hierarchic organization of society and favour an ideal based on game, friendship and love. We show that the situationnist discourse is omnipresent in Ducharme’s work. We think it proves that even though some critics claim the opposite, Réjean Ducharme is a political author.
