New generation ironing board for compact living / Nya generationens strykbräda för compact living

Lang, Johanna January 2016 (has links)
This report describes the product development thesis that was conducted as an end project in the Master programme Industrial Design at Jönköping University. The thesis has been about developing, designing and building an ironing board for compact living. The name for the product that has been developed is UNI and it is a multifunctional ironing board which can either be mounted on the wall or hanged over the door. When the ironing board is not in used, it can be folded up and will then act as a mirror. When the ironing board is folded down, parts of the mirrors frame will be folded down and act like a supporting leg for the ironing board. On the inside is shelves and hooks mounted. Here can the owner store small things like keys and jewelleries. To get the best final result, have the design process Bootcamp Bootleg been used. This design process is divided in to five different stages where different methods are used to help with moving the project forward. The CAD-programme SolidWorks 2014 was used to create the CAD-models and the renderings where made in the rendering programme Keyshot 5. The physical model which was made during this thesis, was made in a scale of 1:1. The materials that were used for the model were hard foam, metal, wood, acrylic mirror, wadding and fabric. This thesis has been performed in collaboration with the company Rörets Industrier AB located in Jönköping, Sweden.

Elgueta Zúñiga, Magdalena, Martínez Domínguez, Carla January 2004 (has links)

An Adaptive Reuse Design for Faculty Living.

Moore, Valentina 01 January 2009 (has links)
Adaptive reuse of historic buildings is often a good way to make use of empty unutilized spaces that are architecturally valuable to function as desirable and pleasing environments. The inherited architectural features, large amounts of craftsmanship in the details that usually accompany these older spaces are the appealing traits, which make them exclusive. The design idea of faculty housing in an early twenty’s century Baptist church currently used as the Virginia Commonwealth University Music Center represent an alternative option to it’s existing use. The faculty housing idea in this thesis, as a second adaptive reuse option does not try to resolve any existing problem with the current use, but is introducing an alternative way of design using old and new. To help with the progress of this thesis the following question was explored How is the integration of historic and new create a new entity?

"Unsex Me Here...:" Looking at Gender in Nude Performance

Passini, Vanessa 30 April 2009 (has links)
"Unsex Me Here…" is an examination of our bodies, what they mean in terms of gender and power, and why they mean what they do. Plucked from Lady Macbeth’s infamous soliloquy, the title suggests the stripping away of something essential that transforms. Sex is not the right word, but gender is. Often, these two are mistaken and interchanged. Myths that support our social structure exist at the intersection of sex and gender. In this production, I collaborated with Pete Guither of the Living Canvas to challenge notions of gender in different textual mediums (via the written text of Shakespeare’s "Macbeth" and the text of the body itself) ultimately moving towards a space in which greater body understanding and acceptance exists. Our goal was a theatrical event that was both artistically beautiful and transformational not only for the artists involved in the process of making the piece but the audience as well.

Investigation of mindfulness, psychological inflexibility and valued living as potential moderators of the relationships between burden, distress and well-being in unpaid carers

Slowey, Lindsey January 2014 (has links)
Unpaid carers are known to be at heightened risk of poor outcomes (e.g. financially, physically and emotionally). Conversely it is known that carers can have positive experiences through their caring role and continue to experience good well-being even when distress is present. The study proposes that mindfulness, psychological inflexibility and valued living may moderate the relationship between distress and well-being in carers and therefore help ameliorate some of the potentially negative consequences of caring.

Blom, Evelina, Berggren, Isabelle January 2017 (has links)
I Sverige insjuknar cirka två barn varje dag i diabetes mellitus typ 1.

Living-learning communities: the role they play in first year retention efforts in higher education

Plattner, Allyson Karene January 1900 (has links)
Master of Science / Department of Counseling and Student Development / Doris Wright Carroll / Living-learning communities in higher education play a critical role in the success of our student population. Having the option of living-learning communities on campus is a sought after option for students and parents of students beginning college. For student retention efforts, it is important that our student affairs professionals understand the impact that living-learning communities have on the first-year student population. It is additionally important that professionals understand the different types of living-learning communities and determine which is best to implement on their campus. This report takes a deeper look into living-learning communities across the country and the impacts on living-learning communities have on campus. Taking into consideration the diversity of varying living-learning communities, three specific types were examined and their success was determined based on a national study called The National Study of Living-Learning Programs (2007). This report communicates the depth and necessity of living-learning communities in higher education for students, parents, and student affairs professionals.
