Previsão de ações em atividades diárias para assistir pessoas com declínio cognitivo através de um modelo ontológico probabilístico / Prediction of actions in daily activities to assist people with cognitive decline through a probabilistic ontological model

Lunardi, Gabriel Machado January 2017 (has links)
The world’s elderly population is growing and, with it, the number of diagnoses of diseases related to old age, such as cognitive declines as well. These diseases usually affect the autonomy of the elderly in their home, especially when it comes to performing daily activities. With this in mind, it is necessary to employ caregivers and health services that end up implying high costs. In this sense, the need arises to design robust, automated, usable and low-cost systems for personal assistance. The design of these systems makes reference to the area of Ambient Assisted Living. Therefore, this dissertation proposes an approach that benefits the Ambient Assisted Living systems with the ability to predict human actions for the facilitation of daily activities, particularly when cognitive declines related to them occur. In this sense, a semantic meta-model was conceived for the generation of conceptual models of context and behavior, composed by human actions. From this, the prediction of actions (information of support) is realized by a mechanism of prediction and inference composed by a probabilistic semantic model. The approach is demonstrated through a case study whose scenario represents a situation of cognitive decline, faced by a user, that prevents the conduct of a daily activity. Then, the prediction and inference mechanism, using the probabilistic semantic model, predicts the most appropriate action that facilitates the conclusion of the activity. This forecast is evaluated to gauge how well a user would be assisted, that is, if the intended operation was performed by him. For this, a dataset related to the case study scenario and performance measures such as precision, recall, and F-measure were used. The results of this evaluation are promising, averaging 69.5% for precision, 100% for recall and 81% for F-measure. The main contributions of this work are related to the semantic meta-model from which research in the area of this work can be used to generate behavioral models, and to the probabilistic semantic model that performs prediction through uncertain reasoning over behavior models, providing better decisions to help users with cognitive decline.

CAPRECIPES: a context-aware personalized recipes recommender for healthy and smart living

Jain, Harshit 04 July 2018 (has links)
In the past few years, the general work habits of people have changed dramatically, raising concerns about their well-being. Numerous health-related problems have been observed from their health records such as obesity, diabetes or heart diseases, and unhealthy eating is one of its factors. But these problems can be prevented if people start eating healthy food. The population, in general, is also realizing that healthy eating is important for their well-being. However, they usually resist because they assume that healthy food is not tasty and they do not want to comprise their taste preferences. Moreover, they have various other considerations that become barriers for them while selecting a healthy recipe. These are:(1) their complex, restrained needs (i.e., allergies and nutritional goals), (2) their strict lifestyle or dietary preferences (i.e., their desire to eat only vegan or vegetarian food), (3) lack of knowledge about how to choose healthy recipes while exploiting their taste preferences, (4) choosing recipes that maximize the use of available ingredients in their kitchen. Numerous researchers have been working in this field and developed various applications and systems to suggest healthy recipes. Apart from unhealthy eating, household food wastage has become a public problem, and some of the causes, which trigger it are users’ taste preferences (i.e., disliking of the food), and not cooking food before ingredients expiry dates. Thus, we propose a personalized recipes recommender system as a proof of concept called CAPRECIPES, which is based on context-awareness. It tackles the aforementioned barriers and improves the users’ experiences by providing the recommendations of personalized recipes with minimal efforts while exploiting their dynamically changing contexts. CAPRECIPES also helps in the reduction of food wastage as it first shows the recipes, which contain the ingredients that are expiring soon and matches with users’ taste preferences. It also considers that recipes do not violate users’ health restrictions and nutritional goals, and use the maximum number of available ingredients in users’ kitchen. The proposed system gathers users’ taste preferences by exploiting two third-party social media applications (i.e., Facebook and YouTube) and collaborative-based filtering algorithm. This thesis also explores various natural language processing techniques such as text analysis and parts of speech tagging to identify the recipes’ preferences and to find the most relevant match for each recipe or ingredient having different names. / Graduate

Failure to Launch: Cost of Living and Living Standards in Peru during the 19th Century / Despegue frustrado: costo de vida y estándares de vida en el Perú durante el siglo XIX

Arroyo Abad, Leticia 10 April 2018 (has links)
Based on a variety of archival sources, this paper presents estimations for cost of living and living standards for Lima, Peru during the 19th century. During this century Peru experienced deep swings in economic activity marked by the independence wars, the War of the Pacific, and a commodity boom. These new series show that a sizable inflationary period during the guano age had dampeningeffects on the living standards of the popular class. While living standards peaked by mid 1850s, GDP per capita did not do so until two decades later. These results suggest that the guano bonanza failed to lift working-class living standards above subsistence levels. Even though living standards climbed steadily, almost reaching those of England, all these gains were lost by the end of the century.

CONCLUSÕES: Os domínios comprometidos são relacionadas à contratualidade e socialização pelas atividades, merecendo intervenções de enfermagem diretas e singulares, macrossociais e empreendidas no habitat / Because of the cognitive, sensory motor and psychosocial damage caused by mental disorders in occupational functioning, quality of life is deteriorating, isolation and inactivity are result, accentuating the deletion. OBJECTIVE: To identify the level of performance in life activities regardless of the mental patients and correlate variables.METHODS: A descriptive cross- sectional study in two Mato Grosso mental health services. Sample of 146 subjects (73 patients with mental disorders / 73 informants of them). Integrative Literature Review was done about independent living activities in patients with mental disorders, afterward to a sociodemographic questionnaire and the Inventory of Independent Living Skills (ILSS-BR) was intended to identify areas of potentially impaired independent living. ANALYSIS: Analysis and correlations by STATA. Similar scores obtained by the score of ILSS, the overall score and subscales. RESULTS: Most women (71.2%), married (63), 44 35 years old (46%), low educational level (48% completed fourth grade), low purchasing power (68.6% with R$1.024,00 maximum income). The more committed areas of independent living are Employment, Leisure and Transport, who have been influenced by diagnosis, duration of mental disorder, education and income. DISCUSSION: The scores for the informant version were 1.3% and patient, at 10.2%, indicating severe limitations in independent living activities and discrepancies between the perceptions of the two groups. Injury were correlated in independent living and low education, low income, greater tendency to abandon studies and vocational courses activities. Men are more vulnerable and suffer greater impact in employment area. CONCLUSIONS: The affected modules are related by contractuality and socialization activities, requiring direct and individuallynursing interventions in macrosocial- habitat

Dados governamentais abertos, mobilidade urbana e laboratórios vivos (Living labs): um estudo a partir da experiência do MobiLab no município de São Paulo / Open Government Data, Urban Mobility and Living Labs: A Study From the Experience of MobiLab At The City of São Paulo

Allan Souza Santos 13 June 2017 (has links)
The pressure for the publication and dissemination of more government-produced government data has contributed not only to improved levels of public transparency, but also as a way of leveraging the development of digital public services through new ICT platforms. In São Paulo, the creation of an innovative environment, based on the creation of digital tools and solutions of the kind, developed through the co-participation between the municipal government and other interested parties, based on the use of open transport data and urban mobility. MobiLab was born, a living lab, based on the co-participation of the public sector, companies, universities and other potential users, who together began to direct their efforts towards the creation of digital solutions aimed at solving problems of Urban mobility present today in the daily life of the municipality of São Paulo. This dissertation, therefore, sought to look at MobiLab, as a case study that contemplated the issues involving the use of open government data, focused on urban mobility, and guided by the use of a living lab, the MobiLab, as a catalyst for different opportunities and challenges that governments, startups and society may face while using new technologies created from the use of open government data. As a way to better analyze the activities developed at MobiLab, the research carried out a case study with startups participants of a residence program, where it was possible to follow part of the creation process of the applications and the perception of the users regarding the use of an environment of technological innovation, based on the use of open data and the way in which it focuses on the development of the proposed solutions

Teaching Culinary Skills using Video Modeling to Individuals with Traumatic Brain Injury

Castro, Sarah 03 November 2016 (has links)
Individuals with Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) often need to be taught independent living skills in order to reintegrate into community settings. This study examined the use of video modeling to teach culinary skills to three individuals with TBI. Video modeling is easily accessible, inexpensive, and not reliant on an additional person to directly teach skills. For all three participants, video modeling resulted in increases in cooking skills using a task analysis created for each food item prepared. For one participant, the skills maintained over two weeks and generalized to a novel food. For another participant video modeling was insufficient in reaching high skills levels therefore a second phase utilizing reinforcement and corrective feedback was implemented. This phase demonstrated with the additional component including reinforcement and corrective feedback, the third participant reached high skill levels.

The exploration of sustainable and diversified livelihood options for residents of Enon-Bersheba

Dlamini, Tembile Daniel January 2012 (has links)
Enon-Bersheba (E&B) area has approximately 10 200 hectors of pristine communal land that is rare to find in the Cacadu region. This prime communal land is situated in the bank of the Sundays River Valley in the Eastern Cape Province. Enon-Bersheba falls under the jurisdiction of the Sundays River Local Municipality. The Municipal jurisdiction provides easy access to this pristine commonage that presents opportunities for economic development as well as residential opportunities. This study presents the diversity of sustainable livelihood alternatives from the community‟s perspective. This study finds that giving the beneficiaries of land restitution authority over decision-making on land usage is an important contributor to success. Land is a significant asset, and it becomes more valuable and development-worthy if legal institutions are in place to manage the planning and development processes, for its full utilisation. In addition to this, the study provides a community-driven development framework with which potential development partners can interact to enhance revenue generating activities and strengthen the institutional environment through the formation of community-private-public-partnerships. The participatory research process that was undertaken made essential findings. The study validates the use of livelihoods-based approach to poverty alleviation. A bottom-up participatory process was effective in determining how best Enon-Bersheba communal land can be put into effective and efficient use. Likewise, an integrated approach to development planning was proven to be important. This study proved an extra-ordinary belief that the stability and changed value systems within a community often derive from complex social problems that are inherently dynamic. The involvement of the Independent Electoral Commission in the referendum process for Enon-Bersheba‟s legal entity that will manage the land suggests the credibility of the process. The existing information around potential development options of Enon-Bersheba was consolidated and verified by the community. The awareness of community abilities and resources served to enhance community mobilization for social action. The study provides a framework for development policy imperatives and a new vision for Enon-Bersheba.
