Previous issue date: 2009-09-17 / The use of the production lean concepts in the logistics creates competitive advantage for the companies, especially for logistics operators. In the automotive industry, the practice of such concepts is widely used. The application of the lean supply concept may imply a simple understanding of restriction of vendors and reduction of the stock levels through the increase of frequency of supply deliveries.
However, this is may be an erroneous vision, because the lean system consists of the analysis of elimination of waste of a entire process. The objective of this dissertation was to accomplish an exploratory study on the decisive aspects of the success in the implantation of the lean concept in the logistics and its application in the distribution of pieces of a automotive company, through an logistic operator. The
methodology used in this work is a bibliographical revision and the immersion in an environment of operation logistics in a warehouse of an automotive industry of distribution of parts to the dealers, where the author acts as agent for improvement of the processes operational in loco.

Understanding consumer preferences for logistics services within online retailing of fresh products : A research conducted on Swedish consumersPeiling, Zhang, Tingting, Li January 2018 (has links)
Background In the context of booming e-commerce, logistics service is an opportunity as well as a challenge for fresh products e-retailers and their logistics service providers (LSPs). In fact, they offered various fancy logistics services, like evening home delivery, same-day delivery and recyclable packaging. However, it will lead to a high cost. So, it is necessary for them to understand consumer preferences for logistics services to obtain their satisfaction and loyalty as well as to decrease the logistics costs. Purpose The purpose of this study is to investigate consumer preferences for logistics services within online retailing of fresh products in Sweden. Method To fulfill the research purpose, a quantitative research is conducted by employing the full-profile conjoint analysis. The quantitative data in a raw form were collected from the questionnaire, which has investigated 161 respondents in Sweden for rating nine logistics service profiles. To reduce the respondents’ evaluation task, the profiles are generated by orthogonal design in SPSS 24.0. The data analysis is conducted by conjoint analysis module in the software. Conclusion The results show that free home delivery is the preferred choice and green packaging material is much more attractive than ordinary one. Delivery speed does not appear to be so important comparing with the other attributes, which means the respondents could accept the delivery within one week. To extent, the respondents are very cost conscious, but they are still willing to make trade off for the premium logistics services. For example, they could accept 1-50 kronor delivery fee when they select home delivery with green package marticals. Therefore, e-retailers and their LSPs can focus on how to balance free shipping and certain delivery costs in different contexts.

Rigips, s. r. o. deals with building sector and specializes in production of plaster boards on the Czech market on which it has been operating more than fifteen years. In conclusion the detected issues are identified and suggestions are made for a remedy to prevent a negative impact on logistic processes in the company.

Parcel carriers are susceptible to changes in the supply chain industry, as the carrier industry consists of many stakeholders who have an impact on the way they function. The stakeholders in the carrier industry are directly affected by the market trends that in turn affect the carrier business. Currently, E-commerce has a major influence on supply chain design, the operation of parcel carriers and the consumers. One main area of this thesis study is to analyse the impact of E-commerce on the parcel carriers in the EU and the US. Over time, E-commerce has caused a shift in the logistics industry that has made the carriers update the solutions they provide to their customers and to update their operations to accommodate the changes brought about by E-commerce. Since the operations of carriers in the EU and the US are different, this study focusses on five major parameters (Segmentation, Networks, Services, Specification and Tariff Structure) that help understand the carriers better in these two regions. This study will also help European Logistics Software Providers to re-organise themselves so it may help them to perform better integration processes between the carrier and their customers. It is evident that E-commerce has affected the parcel carrier industry and that the Logistics Software Providers must consider these parameters to have harmonized collaboration between the stakeholders in the supply chain. It is also difficult to normalize the selection of factors to be considered in the selection of a parcel carrier since the factors have a different effect in different regions around the world.

Previous issue date: 2016-02-29 / Outsourcing of logistics activities in the Brazil has been growing, allowing companies to direct efforts towards to their core activities and to obtain strategic gains due to the know-how of specialist companies and the possibility of reducing costs with the assets of the contracted company. Thus, tools that aid in the proper selection of suppliers can be important for the company to reach its goals. In this context, the purpose of this study is to apply the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) in the evaluation process and selection of a logistics services providers (LSP) for the courier delivery services company, analyzing qualitative and quantitative criteria that express the real needs of the parties, whose aim is to improve the indicators in terms of quality and customer satisfaction. The results indicated that the information technology, responsiveness and quality of management are the most relevant criteria for the contractor because of the need of preserving the enterprise reliability front of your customers and to remain competitive in the courier delivery services area. The results also showed that the criteria and method used could contribute for classification of LSP suitable for the service in terms of deadline, demand and traceability required for operational success. A sensitivity analysis was also carried out to assess the robustness of the decision. Finally, the proposed model proved to be a good alternative to support the decision on the selection of logistics providers for express charge, since the analysis of qualitative and quantitative criteria adhering to organizational practice, can lead to choosing companies that can meet the quality requirements of the sector. / A terceirização das atividades logísticas no Brasil vem crescendo, permitindo as empresas a direcionar os esforços no sentido de suas atividades principais e obter ganhos estratégicos devido ao know-how de empresas especializadas e a possibilidade de reduzir os custos com os ativos da empresa contratada. Desta forma, ferramentas que auxiliem na seleção adequada de fornecedores, pode ser importante para que a empresa atinja seus objetivos. Nesse contexto, o objetivo deste estudo é investigar o uso do método de decisão multicritério Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) para a avaliação e seleção de provedores de serviços logísticos (PSLs) para empresas do segmento de cargas expressas analisando critérios qualitativos e quantitativos que expressam as reais necessidades das partes envolvidas, cujo intuito é melhorar os indicadores em termo de qualidade, prazo e satisfação dos clientes. Os resultados demonstraram que a tecnologia da informação, responsividade e a gestão da qualidade são os critérios mais relevantes para a contratante em razão da necessidade da preservação da confiabilidade da empresa frente a seus clientes e para manter-se competitiva no segmento de cargas expressas. Constatou-se que os critérios utilizados e o método contribuíram para a classificação de PSLs adequados para o atendimento em termos de prazo, demanda e rastreabilidade exigidos para o sucesso operacional. Uma análise de sensibilidade também foi desenvolvida para avaliar a robustez da decisão. O modelo proposto mostrou ser uma boa alternativa para apoio a decisão na seleção de fornecedores logísticos para carga expressa, uma vez que a análise de critérios qualitativos e quantitativos aderentes à prática organizacional, pode levar a escolha de empresas que possam atender as exigências de qualidade do setor.

El presente proyecto diseña una metodología para mitigar los principales problemas operativos y logísticos en una empresa 3PL en chorrillos-Lima-Perú con el fin de reducir los costos y aumentar el margen de contribución.
En la investigación se identificó oportunidades de mejora dentro del sector se servicios logísticos los cuales abarcaban costos de transporte y mejora de procesos. La información se obtuvo a través de análisis de mercado, benchmarking (entidades privadas), entidades públicas (estadística del MTC, Sutran), e información de estudios profesionales y científicos.
La tesis se divide en 5 capítulos. En el primer capítulo, se explica el estado del arte, investigaciones anteriores y el marco conceptual-teórico. El segundo capítulo presenta los antecedentes y realidad problemática en una empresa del sector logístico peruano. Además, presenta los objetivos generales y específicos y las hipótesis del proyecto. El tercer capítulo diseña y desarrolla la propuesta de mejora para la optimización de costos. La propuesta de mejora integra 4 herramientas de la filosofía Lean (just in time, balance de línea, Kanban, 5s) y un modelo de programación lineal. El cuarto capítulo presenta la validación económica, funcional, ambiental y de riesgos. Por último, el capítulo cinco expone las conclusiones y recomendaciones generales y específicas. / This project designs a methodology to mitigate the main operational and logistical problems in a 3PL company in order to reduce costs and increase the contribution margin at Chorrillos-Lima-Peru
The research identified opportunities for improvement within the logistics services sector which included transportation costs and process improvement. The information was obtained through market analysis, benchmarking (private entities), public entities (MTC statistics, Sutran), and information from professional and scientific studies.
The thesis is divided into 5 chapters. In the first chapter, the state of the art, previous investigations and the conceptual-theoretical framework are explained. The second chapter presents the background and the problematic reality in a company in the Peruvian logistics sector. In addition, it presents the general and specific objectives and hypotheses of the project. The third chapter designs and develops the improvement proposal for cost optimization. The improvement proposal integrates 4 tools of the Lean philosophy (just in time, line balance, Kanban, 5s) and a lineal programming model. The fourth chapter presents economic, functional, environmental and risk validation. Plusieurs facteurs importants interviennent dans la dynamique concurrentielle des chaînes logistiques, à savoir les caractéristiques structurales et relationnelles. Nous optons dans ce travail doctoral pour l'étude des registres relationnels afin de comprendre le rôle des réseaux sociaux dans la construction d'une capacité de coordination au sein des chaines logistiques. Le champ d'investigation est celui du prestataire logistique de dernière génération dénommé 4PL, dont le métier consiste à concevoir et à orchestrer des systèmes logistiques sans pour autant posséder d'actifs matériels. Afin de faire la lumière sur cette problématique, nous mobilisons trois cadres d'analyse, à savoir le management inter-organisationnel, l'approche par les réseaux sociaux et la prestation logistique. La démarche empirique s'est appuyée sur l'analyse du discours de personnes évoluant dans des entreprises ayant mis en oeuvre une prestation 4PL. Les résultats de notre recherche doctorale soulignent qu'il faut tenir compte de valeurs aussi bien économiques que sociales, comme la confiance et les liens interpersonnels, pour dynamiser les relations inter-organisationnelles. Ces valeurs sociales facilitent le travail de coordination du 4PL au sein des chaînes logistiques et légitiment son pilotage. / Several important factors are involved in the competitive dynamics of supply chains: namely the structural and relational characteristics. In this doctoral research we choose to use the relational register in order to understand the role of social networks in building coordination capacity within supply chains. The field of investigation is the Fourth Party Logistics (4PL), whose job is to design and orchestrate logistics systems without ownership of physical assets. To shed some light on this issue we engage three analytical frameworks: the inter-organizational management, the social networks paradigm and logistics services. The empirical approach was based on discourse analysis of people operating in 4PL companies. The results of our study highlight that we must rely on economical as well as social values, such as trust and interpersonal ties, in order to maintain and boost inter-organizational relationships. These social values facilitate 4PL's coordination within supply chains and legitimize its control.
