Proposal for development an agent Proxy SNMP for LonWorks network management.

Chermont, Marlon Gripp 29 March 2007 (has links)
With the growth of the computer networks use and also the increase of devices network for the automation use, becomes each more attractive think about a solution that integrates these technologies. In each one of those areas it observes, an increase of the LonWorks technology use in distributed networks of devices, and the consolidation of the Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) as a protocol standard for the management of the computer networks. In this work was developed a proxy agent SNMP, capable to assist the management of control network, based on the LonWorks technology, through the available tools use already in the market for the accomplishment of the computer networks management. This solution type makes possible that same team can manage two network structures, through the same system, facilitating the interaction between the devices and reducing maintenance teams cost. The agent was developed through of an Application Programming Interface (API) use, that implements all the communication structure SNMP; and to achieve the management was created a Management Information Base (MIB), with some information of devices diagnosis.

Integração entre redes LonWorks e redes IP: aplicações, requisitos e soluções. / LonWorks and IP networks interconnection: applications, requirements and solutions.

Canovas, Sergio Roberto de Mello 25 August 2006 (has links)
Control networks utilization on automation systems has been increasing. Their interconnection with the Internet is also an interesting option, creating the necessity of new studies. This work considers the interconnection between LonWorks control networks and IP-based networks. Four categories of applications are the focus: remote monitoring of LonWorks networks thorugh IP networks; remote management of LonWorks networks through IP networks; use of an IP network as a backbone to interconnect more than one LonWorks network; and the same use of an IP network for applications with real time requirements. Four questions establish the escope of this study: what kinds of solutions are available to provide interconnection between LonWorks and IP networks; what kinds of network parameters should be considered in a LonWorks/IP based solution and how can they be used to determine requirements for an application; which are the most common requirements for each one of the four categories of applications; and which solution does best fit to each category. The answers of these questions were based on theoretical studies and experiments. The notation used in different references was unified, and basic concepts and elements about the topic were presented. New explanations, examples and considerations were also introduced. A software application to emulate a control loop running over LonWorks/IP networks has been developed. This tool can be used for tests and even as a start point for real projects. The main contributions of this work are: identification of quantitative network parameters for establishement of requirements of LonWorks/IP applications; creation of a software application to run a control loop over LonWorks/IP networks; analysis of current knowledge about LonWorks technology; and identification of relationships between technological solutions for LonWorks/IP interconnection and categories of application of the technology.

Proposed development of smart transducers based on the IEEE 1451 standard and applied to LonWorks networks.

Tani, Fernando Keisuke 24 November 2006 (has links)
The need for more efficient and cost-effective solutions in the control and automation market drives the increasing demand for systems based on control networks and smart transducers. However, the fragmented nature of the control network market hinders the development of solutions based on such technologies. The IEEE 1451 family of standards tries to solve this problem by specifying a common set of interfaces between the transducers and the control networks, isolating the transducer\'s project from the choice of networks. In this work, a smart transducer based on the IEEE 1451.2 standard (STIM) and its interface module to a LonWorks network (NCAP) were developed. Through the development and evaluation of the prototypes, the applicability of the standard and the concepts involved in the IEEE 1451 were verified. It was confirmed that a smart transducer based on the IEEE 1451.2 standard can be developed with low-cost, off-the-shelf components and software tools, and that it is possible to combine the benefits of the IEEE 1451 with the qualities of the LonWorks system. It was also perceived that the acceptance of the IEEE 1451 in the market is quite low, and that the release of the remaining standards that make up the IEEE 1451 family is essential for its success.

Χαρατσής, Κωνσταντίνος 28 September 2010 (has links)
Modern building design approaches require interactive amenities provision to people who live and work within them. Home and Building Automation, however, is characterized by great diversity among most installed systems, which are non-open systems. It is necessary therefore to find methods for integration between them, and move to more open systems that provide flexibility and interoperability. A number of systems and applications have been developed towards this direction, and every day there are new more "smart" devices with multiple networking technologies using Internet and wireless communication. These features appear to constitute the ingredients for a successful delivery of electronic services in the area. This thesis is to investigate the creation and use of semantic descriptions in the environment of building automation, implement an ontology describing a LonWorks network, and extended it to more general equipment and procedures that characterize the area. Moreover, a survey is performed around the methodology for the use of these descriptions along with network services, resulting in the design and implementation of a platform. The platform incorporates a set of tools enabling the network engineer to design and develop the necessary web services needed to create e-services. Specifically, it describes the implementation methodology of web services that will draw information from the underlying automation network, regardless of each heterogeneity degree, and each amongst combination to create web services.

Middleware automation concepts application for lonworks/EIA 709.1 control networks in pervasive enviroments.

Alves Filho, Miguel dos Santos 30 June 2009 (has links)
Pervasive or ubiquitous computing, proposes the integration between the information and communication technology with the actions and common behaviors presented by people. One of the challenges that it imposes to the environmental automation systems developers, specially building automation developers, is that this integration is processed in such a way that people do not realize they are interacting with a computer, thus its presence becomes omnipresent. Besides the need of an easy and natural interface, there is also the need to incorporate the sensitive computing context to the automation systems. The current control networks utilized in automation systems, building, home and industrial control do not show resources that support the requirements of pervasive computing. This research intend to improve the knowledge associated to modern automation systems, based on LonWorks® control networks, viewing to make them more easily usable as ways to implement pervasive environments. For that, a dynamically settable relationship model was proposed between the intelligent devices of a control network, which allows providing some foreseen characteristics on pervasive computing in a distributed automation system. A LonWorks® technology object model extension is proposed, using middleware concepts, in a dynamic way, to modify behaviors when new situations are identified. The proposed extension was experimentally applied to a few use cases, aiming at its validation and refinement, such as the internal communication of a company, which replaces the usual PABX, which was considered in greater detail. The impossibility of its implementation was found with the current technology, without the use of the proposed extension. Those cases were evaluated and discussed, contributing to a new automation system concept technology that can support provided proposals on pervasive computing.
