A service to automate the task assignment process in YAWL

Samanthula, Krishna Nagarjun Reddy January 1900 (has links)
Master of Science / Department of Computing and Information Sciences / Gurdip Singh / Developing an optimal working environment and managing the of work load in an efficient manner are the major challenges for most businesses today. So, the importance of the workflow and workflow management in an organization is unquestionable. Many organizations use sophisticated systems to organize the workflows. One such workflow system based on a concise and powerful modeling language called “Yet Another Workflow Language” is YAWL. YAWL handles complex data, transformations, integration with organizational resources and Web Service integration. Workflow comprises of three main perspectives: control-flow, data and the resources. In Yawl, the control-flow and the data-flow are tightly coupled within the workflow enactment engine. But the resource perspective is provided by a discrete custom service called Resource Service. Administrative tools are provided using which the administrator has to manually select the resource (referred as participant) which needs to perform a particular task of the workflow. This project aims at developing a service which can automate the assignment of the tasks to the participants by using the Resource service which provides number of interfaces that expose the full functionality of the service. The application of this project with respect to Healthcare domain is presented. Healthcare domain is the one of the most demanding and yet critical business process. Hospitals face increasing pressure to both improve the quality of the services delivered to patients and to reduce costs .Hence there is significant demand on hospitals in regard to how the organization, execution, and monitoring of work processes is performed. Workflow Management Systems like YAWL offers a potential solution as they support processes by managing the flow of work.

Celik, Ertugrul January 2011 (has links)
Purpose – The aim of this research is to explore the benefits and barriers of integrating EMS to SCM in Sandvik Tooling. While exploring that, it is intended to gain insights into the methods employed to integrate the systems and find out the type of integration used in practice. Design/methodology/approach – Explorative case study method is employed in this research paper. Primary data is obtained through semi-structured interviews and observations. Triangulation, respondent validation, peer review are the principal strategies employed to ensure validity and reliability of this study. Findings – Sandvik Tooling employed a composite view of integration in which verbal and documented forms of information exchanged together with novel solutions to provide integration throughout supply chain on the basis of common goals and vision, shared values and resources. Integration is provided with a balanced mixture of interactions and collaborations. Benefits of integration are categorized as environmental, economic, and organizational benefits. On the other side, barriers are presented as internal and external barriers. Practical Implications – This research paper has significant practical contributions to businesses with presenting the ways to integrate and analyze these two systems and demonstrate barriers to overcome and benefits to take advantage of. Originality/value – Environmental management systems and supply chain management topics received considerable interest among researchers in recent decades. However there is a lack of research about how these two systems can be integrated and what kind of integration will best define this integration type. Analyzing barriers and benefits of integration process will also advance and contribute our knowledge in this research area.

Advancing the hygiene management system at red meat abattoirs in Gauteng

Govender, R., Genis, E.M. January 2010 (has links)
Published Article / Direct control by government over abattoirs shifted in the late 1980s through privatisation. The legislated food safety system, namely the Hygiene Management System (HMS), coupled with the Hygiene Assessment System (HAS) attempted to address problems of control. The responsibility to implement and maintain these systems is now the responsibility of abattoir operators who must ensure that meat is processed within the risk-based HMS. However requirements for the HMS are scattered throughout legislation, government policies and guideline documents. The research aim was to suggest themes toward the development of an implementation guideline document for HMS implementation by conducting gap assessment audits at abattoirs using the Hygiene Assessment System (HAS).

Evaluation of monitoring systems and processes

Hedström, Therese, Lundahl, Sara January 2016 (has links)
The focus of this Thesis has been to evaluate different monitoring systems and processes that are used by the Network Operations Center at TDC Sverige AB. The problem formulation involves (i) how the monitoring systems are used, (ii) how these work together, (iii) what processes are involved and (iv) how the systems and processes can be improved to benefit the Network Operations Center. Processes involved in TDC’s work follows the Information Technology Infrastructure Library. To be able to answer the problem formulation, the current documentation is browsed and together with meetings with key figures within the company; such as managers, project managers, technicians and system administrators; information is gathered to give a comprehensive view of the current state of the monitoring systems, and the whole process leading to handover to the Network Operations Center. TDC Network as a Service is a concept that includes different networking solutions in which LAN and WLAN as a Service offers standardized networking solutions for LAN and WLAN. The Network Management System is described, which includes HP Network Node Manager i, Network Performance Servers and incident ticket systems. The process of how incident tickets can be created, both manually and automatically, is described as well as the whole process of how new customers are added to the monitoring and how customers are registered in the different Service Asset and Configuration Management applications. It is discussed how new nodes are added to the monitoring, and which systems are involved in this process, including Network Node Manager i, VisionApp, NetMRI and incident ticket systems. The regular monitoring process of the Network Operations Center is presented in this Thesis. It is suggested that the improvements include involving the Network Operations Center at an earlier stage during the selling and implementation process, and devised a better transition to the Service Operation phase. TDC would benefit from fewer Service Asset and Configuration Management applications and incident ticket systems and there should be better routines regarding documentation.

Creating Knowledge Management System for project-based organizations

Pominovskyi, Oleksii, Shalamova, Ekaterina January 2017 (has links)
The current study is driven by the growing importance of learning capabilities within organizations. Nowadays an ability to constantly develop and improve based on mistakes and broadly apply successful experience is becoming a strategic competitive advantage in highly competitive business environment. This is even more relevant for project-based organizations, where natural specifics of project activities impose higher requirements in regards to their ability to learn quickly. At the same time, despite the existing number of recommendations there are only rare cases of successful systemic application of knowledge management activities in projectbased organizations. Thus, additional exploration of the topic is required through identification of critical factors that influence implementation process. From this standpoint an exploratory research has been conducted, including an exhaustive literature review and a qualitative case study in a single company, complemented with additional interviews in ten other organizations. The combination of scrupulously summarized theoretical insights from the existing extensive range of academic research and the data obtained empirically resulted in a comprehensive theoretical framework. This framework depicts all the recommended elements that need to be incorporated into a project-based knowledge management system, as well as a list of critical factors, which should be considered while rolling out a system in practice. The current study revealed some new factors, which critically influence the success of project-based knowledge management systems implementation. These new findings are also included into the final framework and supposed to help to eliminate the existing confusion regarding the topic. Therefore, the produced comprehensive framework is highly recommended for practitioners as a starting point for planning their knowledge management system implementations projects. It also suggests further exploratory opportunities.

Sistema de apoyo a las elecciones del Partido Comunista de Chile

Ortega Riquelme, Miguel Alberto January 2018 (has links)
