Optical Tracing Analysis on Backlight Modules with Different V-Cut Light Guide PlatesYang, Yu-bin 10 September 2008 (has links)
LGP( Light Guide Plate) is the important part of the BLM(Back Light Modulus). It makes the BLM high illuminance and uniformity with leading light direction. LED(Light Emitting Diode) is the light source of the BLM. In this study there are V-Cut of the micro-structure applying on the LGP to discuss and research with optical simulation software TracePro.
A 2.5 inch BLM with LED is building to analysis. First, the beginning side of the LGP has been studied with V-Cut. The purpose is making the distribution angel larger and upgrading brightness. Then, with the V-Cut micro-structure on the out-light surface and optical sheets get the largest light availability ratio. Finally, the reflect surface divides to five parts with different pitches design. The results show the good benefit by more uniformly light distribution and illuminance.

Operation of Battery Power Modules with Serial ConnectionHu, Jin-shin 20 July 2009 (has links)
This thesis presents a novel configuration of battery power by the outputs with serial connection of battery power modules (BPMs) for high voltage level loads. As compared to the conventional application of series-connected battery bank, this configuration operates the BPMs individually, and thus has the advantages of flexible control, convenient maintenance, and easily favorable battery management. The associated converter is equipped to a single battery pack, so that has lower component stresses leading to a higher circuit efficiency.
The operation and the design of a lead-acid battery power with series boost-typed BPMs are illustrated. The operation and the design of the converter are illustrated. The control of the power converters is accomplished by a complex programmable logic device (CPLD). To improve the converter efficiency, the technique of synchronous rectification is introduced. For the BPMs designed for discontinuous conduction mode (DCM) operation, charge equalization can be automatically achieved under the same duty-ratio, but is adequate only for batteries with a small difference. On the other hand, charge equalization for the BPMs with continuous conduction mode (CCM) can easily be accomplished by regulating the duty-ratios of the converters.

In this study, the optical simulation software Light Tools was executed to reduce the LED amount used by improving the performance of light guide plate of backlight module with LED illuminator. The improvement of the design including: 1.replacing the V-cut microstructures on the lower layer of the light guide plate by the micro-semispherical lens structures;2.replacing the diffusion film by the micro-semispherical lens structures on the upper layer of the light guide plate ; 3.adding the lateral microstructure on the light guide plate to reduce the dark-area phenomenon.
The sizes of upper/lower microstructures, their spacings and the amount of LED were selected as the parameters and applying L18 orthogonal array to process the simulations firstly. Then integrating different kind of lateral microstructures to find the best uniformity, and obtain a set of parameters that could improve the performance of backlight module and then the amount of LED can be reduced.
The results show that the uniformity of backlight module is over 88% without diffusion film which have overcome the requirement of 85% in traditional design with 2 diffusion films. This improvement not only reduces the cost from diffusion film, also removes the dark-area phenomenon. Additionally, the amount of LED is reduced to 45 from 48 that retrench about 7% of power. Energy and cost are saved simultaneously.

Microfabrication of organic electronic devices: organic photovoltaic module with high total-area efficiencyDindar, Amir 08 June 2015 (has links)
Transferring organic photovoltaics (OPV) from the laboratory into economically feasible products, requires the fabrication of modules, a series of connected single cells. During this transition, there is typically a drastic decrease in power conversion efficiency (PCE). This thesis reports on the design, fabrication, and characterization of state-of-the-art, high-performance organic photovoltaic modules with a novel geometry that composed of unit cells with alternating electrical polarities. Such configuration is realized by exclusive patterning of the interlayers and electrodes and avoids patterning of the photoactive layer. With this novel architecture, area losses of photovoltaic module can be significantly reduced compared with the conventional configurations. The processing of this new solar cell module is also compatible with large area processing techniques such as slot-die coating. This thesis reports on 4-cell and 8-cell modules, wherein the measured fill-factors (FF) and PCE of the constituent sub-cells and of the modules are almost identical. The 4-cell module, with a total area of 0.8 cm2, exhibits an open-circuit voltage (VOC) of 3.15 V, a short circuit-current density (JSC) of 2.3 mA/cm2 and a FF of 0.69, yielding a PCE of 5.01%. The 8-cell module, with a total area of 1.6 cm2, exhibits a VOC of 6.39 V, a JSC of 1.2 mA/cm2 and a FF of 0.63, yielding a PCE of 5.06%. Similar PCE values between 4-cell and 8-cell module is a demonstration of scalability of this novel geometry without compromising the efficiency.

NASA has commissioned the development of this engineering camera to support new mission objectives and perform multiple functions. These objectives require the final prototype to be radiation hardened, multispectral, completely wireless in data transmission and communication, and take high quality still images. This year's team was able to successfully develop an optical system that uses a liquid lens element for focus adjustment. The electrical system uses an Overo Fire computer-on-module (COM) developed by Gumstix. The OMAP processor onboard handles all communication with a monochromatic CMOS sensor, liquid lens control circuitry, pixel data acquisition and processing, and wireless communication with a host computer.

Predatory gastropods (Neogastropoda) feed with a proboscis (elongate snout) and complex foregut. The presence of developmental modules (semi-autonomous components) in foregut development may have facilitated emergence of predatory feeding. In species with indirect development (feeding larval stage) physical and temporal separation of developing foregut modules (dorsal=larval esophagus; ventral=juvenile feeding structures) allows larval feeding and rapid switch to carnivory. However, previous studies on neogastropods with direct development (no feeding larval stage) did not identify foregut developmental modules. Thus, I investigated foregut development in two predatory, direct developing neogastropods: Nucella lamellosa and N. ostrina (Muricoidea), using histological sectioning, 3D reconstructions, TEM, and SEM. In both species, I showed evidence for dissociable dorsal and ventral foregut developmental modules. In N. lamellosa, the two modules were physically separate, although they were not separate in N. ostrina. My results reconcile differences in previous descriptions of foregut development between neogastropods with indirect and direct development. / Graduate

In this project the process of production labeling in meat processing company “Utenos mėsa” is analysed. Equally, the main problems are described and are offered the solutions. In this project the requirements for the software were specified, described the designed part of Manufacturing execution system "MeatMaster" labeling module, user documentation and system installation process at a company and the results of installation.

The thesis consists of 42 pages. The first section outlines the theoretical material about the structure of the sun and its energy potential. The second section analyses and describes the structure of PV, properties, parameters, and the efficiency of PVM energy conversion. The thesis includes the experimental analyses of foreign authors on the efficiency of PVMs depending on the temperature of the modules. The third section is the empirical part, which presents the results of the laboratory experiment with PVMs. The analysis includes the variability of parameters of PVMs (short circuit current, open circuit voltage, power). The fourth section describer the prospects of photovoltaic electricity and its development potential.

One of their generalizations, inspired by tilting theory, is the notion of a cotilting module. While tilting modules behave well with respect to localization, we show that colocalization is the correct approach when comparing the struc- ture of cotilting modules over commutative noetherian rings R with the structure of cotilting modules over their localizations Rm where m runs over the maximal spectrum of R. This is done in Chapter 2 of this Dissertation whose main results were published in the paper [33]. In Chapter 3, we investigate approximation properties of other classic generalizations of injective modules, the Ci- and quasi- injective modules, introduced by Harada et al. Suprisingly, we prove that these classes provide for approximations only in exceptional cases (when all Ci mod- ules are injective, or pure-injective).
