Le décor peint des monastères bouddhiques du Cambodge, fin du XIXe siècle ‒ troisième quart du XXe siècle / Murals and other paintings of Buddhist monasteries of Cambodia, end of 19th century ‒ third quarter of 20th century

Guéret, Danielle 18 November 2015 (has links)
Temples, or vihāra, of Buddhist monasteries, or watt, always played an essential role in Cambodian society. Places of gathering, prayer and teaching which house the largest statue of the Buddha of the monastery, many of them of have received a decor of paintings on their walls and ceiling, recounting his previous Lives and his historical Life. This heritage is not present in the National Archives of Phnom Penh and has never been the subject of a thorough study, let alone a census. The oldest paintings are not earlier than the end of the 19th century and the most recent do not exceed the mid-1970s, when the Khmer Rouges close all monasteries and begin to destroy their buildings, mainly the vihāra. More than 3000 monasteries have been identified and 1800 sanctuaries were photographed during this research whose result is presented in three volumes : volume I is a study of the paintings into six chapters concerning mainly the vihāra but also some sālā and kūtī; volume II contains the annexes with approximately 1400 photographs, detailed maps and lists of the concerned watt ; volume III is a catalogue of the 206 watt having preserved ancient murals, or paintings on other supports - wood, canvas, glass or metal –, with roughly 500 photographs.

Pivovarnictví a sladovnictví jako zdroj obživy církevních a světských statků v období od svých počátků až do doby svého vrcholného rozkvětu před třicetiletou válkou Konventní pivovar Vyšší Brod / Brewing and malting as a source of livelihood of church and worldly possessions in the period from its inception until its peak of prosperity before the Thirty Years War Conventional brewery Vyšší Brod

Wernerová, Marie January 2017 (has links)
This diploma thesis deals with brewing and malting as a way of livelihood of ecclesiastical and secular goods in the territory of the Czech kingdom. This work is also aimed at showing our traditional and national beverage as an important part of our culture and tradition. It wants to introduce beer not only as an alcoholic beverage, but mainly as a business article. Its production and trading with it has been a source of high income not only in the treasuries of cities and nobility, but also in the treasuries of the church. As an example of the Church Brewery, the Conventional Brewery was chosen in Vyšší Brod. The first chapter of the work attempts to show the history of beer brewing closer. The thesis does not aim to describe the history of beer production, but to focus on the first references to it and the production methods used from the oldest cultures, such as Mesopotamian, Babylonian or Egyptian, to our closest Slavonic culture. Another chapter tries to map the production of beer and the struggle for it on the territory of the Czech Crown in the period of its rise, prosperity and mild decline in the middle of the seventeenth century. The last chapter is focused on the Conventional Brewery in Vyšší Brod, which was chosen as a characteristic example for the selected theme and above all as a monument...

Musique et liturgie au Monastère de Santa Cruz de Coimbra (c.1650) : les sons d'un Cartapacio à travers l'édition critique du manuscrit musical 51 de l'Université de Coimbra / Music and liturgy of the Monastery of Santa Cruz in Coimbra (c.1650) : the sounds of one cartapácio revealed through the critical edition of Music Manuscript 51 of the University of Coimbra

De castro Simas da Costa Freire, Tiago Joao 06 October 2017 (has links)
This study is based on Cartapácios de Coimbra, an ensemble of practically unstudied seventeenth century music manuscripts preserved at Coimbra’s University Library (Biblioteca Geral da Universidade de Coimbra). It is part of a multidisciplinary research project currently in progress at University of Coimbra (Mundos e Fundos | CECH). The research is concentrated on one manuscript among the sixteen that constitute this collection: musical manuscript 51 (MM 51). This study is the first ever detailed study over one cartapácio including its complete critical edition. Although focussing primarily on one cartapácio, a comparative analysis with the respect to the other fifteen cartapácios was also conducted, and located in the specific Portuguese and Iberian context.According to our philological study, the MM 51 seems to be a notebook for private use of a working musician. It contains a very diverse repertoire comprising both vernacular and Latin works. The polyphonic settings in the manuscript are multiple and varied, often within the same work, and belong to a typically Iberian language. The majority of the music is written for eight voices, always in polychorality and accompanied by a guião, with various contrasts produced in particular by a concertato style.A positivist, philological and critical approach was taken in the research, which was supplemented by an experimental performance of the repertory, thanks to the musical laboratory Capella Sanctae Crucis. It is hoped that this thesis study will substantially enrich the knowledge base of Portuguese seventeenth century musical activity.

Příspěvek k možnému původu a současnému stavu bývalého kláštera v Pivoni / Contribution to the origin and temporary state of the former monastery in Pivoň

Frdlíková, Markéta January 2019 (has links)
Contribution to the origin and temporary state of the former monastery in Pivoň Abstract This Thesis is contributing to the issue of establishment of former Pivon Monastery, belonging to the Order of st. Augustin between years 1266-1787. Its' origin is a bit older, probably connected with Wilhelmite order, but there still remains a possibility of another, unknown founder. To this topic exist many relevant articles, the same as architectonical surveys but without any strict solution. The oldest visible architectonic parts survived till our days in presbytery of the monastic Church of Annunciation. In the time of writing this Thesis is the area of former monastery put up for auction and its' state is unfavourible, due to the sequences of events in 20th century and unfinished renovation from previous decade. That's why is this Thesis also focused on the poor state of properties of the Monastery area and church and is trying to figure out at least theoretical solution to current situation from the view of monument care.

I am at Kumla, Sweden's most secure prison, and I feel freer than ever” : An interview study about the 12-step program and the monastery program within the Swedish Prison and Probation service.

Parneborg, Klara, Johnson, Jeni January 2021 (has links)
The purpose of this study has been to examine if participation in the monastery-program or the 12 step program within the Swedish Prison and probation service has had an impact on former inmates in their road to a non-criminal life. The study is based on six qualitative interviews. Four life-course interviews with previous inmates and two semi-structured interviews with two caretakers active within the Swedish Prison and probation service. The result showed that participating in one of the treatment programs has had a significant meaning for the participants and it gave them tools to work with themselves. For the programs to be effective, however, all interviewed participants believed that the individuals will to change was crucial. Furthermore the results of this study showed that spirituality also has a central role in the treatment but the interpretation of it is individual.
