Pedagogers resonemang kring digitala spel i verksamheten / Educators reasoning about digital games in leisure-time activities

Wyn-Jones, Caspian, Blomqvist, Jacob January 2020 (has links)
This essay aims to explore the understanding of leisure-time teachers attitudes about using digital games in leisure-time activities. What the essay more particularly will investigate is “How do educators relate to the use of digital games in schools’ leisure-time activities?”. We have used semi-structured interviews to gather our empirical material. Sociocultural perspective was used to analyze the empirical material collected. The findings of the essay shows that educators have a positive attitude towards learning through digital games, that the learning and development of the educational and the personal areas of the children evolve. Furthermore, it is underlined that educators must develop their own knowledge and commitment towards the use of digital games to be able to successfully manage an educational use of games that is in the interest of the children that are learning.

Alternativy nepodmíněného trestu odnětí svobody a jejich srovnání s francouzskou právní úpravou / Alternatives to unconditional sentence of imprisonment and their comparison with the French legislation

Kocourková, Kristýna January 2020 (has links)
This thesis deals with alternatives to unconditional imprisonment. Since this is a very extensive topic, I have focused only on alternative sentences in the narrower sense of the term, namely conditional conviction, conditional conviction with supervision, house arrest, community service and financial punishment. The aim of this thesis is to analyse the Czech lawful legislation of alternatives to unconditional imprisonment, to compare it with selected French alternative sentences and to propose changes de lege ferenda. The thesis consists of an introduction, five chapters and a conclusion. The first chapter deals with the concept of punishment and its purpose. At the same time, this chapter outlines a general introduction to alternative punishments in Czech and French legislation. The second chapter deals with institutes related to restorative justice, namely probation and mediation. This chapter also describes the organisation of the Probation and Mediation Service. The third chapter focuses on individual Czech alternative punishments in the narrower sense. Individual subchapters are ordered according to the systematic of law. Within each subchapter the sentence is characterized, followed by a list of conditions under which the sentence can be imposed, as well as the conditions for the execution...

An Anabaptist paradigm for conflict transformation : critical reflections on peacemaking in Zimbabwe

Kraybill, Ronald Sherer January 1996 (has links)
Bibliography: pages 264-277. / This thesis outlines a proposal from an explicitly religious standpoint of the key dimensions of peacebuilding, focusing particularly on mediation and facilitation as a primary task. What is the value of such a study? My initial responses in the paragraphs which follow are made at the broadest possible level: the desperate need for effective peacebuilders in a world torn by violence and the potential for religiously-based peacebuilders to fill that need. I then support this response by examining other reasons for the study: the current inadequacy of religious response to conflicts, the danger of manipulation of religious leadership by other actors, and potential for the insights of religiously-based actors to contribute to the over-all practice of peacebuilding and diplomacy. In addressing the latter question I outline my own understanding of the meaning of "religion", an understanding whose impact on the broad question of peacebuilding I explore throughout the chapters which follow.

Interspaces - Public Information Centre

Breytenbach, Pieter Jacobus Andries January 2012 (has links)
The study explores the mediating role architecture should play towards the re-integration of degenerate urban spaces, within existing contemporary urban environment. The architecture proposed, in this case a Public Community Information Centre, furthermore intends to find a workable solution, in mediating between society, the city, and the environment that will acknowledge the processes associated with sustainable social production in the quest to eradicate a fragmented, and culturally segregated society. / Dissertation MArch(Prof)--University of Pretoria, 2012. / Architecture / Unrestricted / 2013-4-17

A psychology of a Catholic education: A case study of a day primary school in Johannesburg

Jaki, Patrick Odwora 30 May 2008 (has links)
This dissertation is an investigation of 13-14 year-old learners in Grade Five and Grade Six being taught and learning moral sociocultural values. The specific variables investigated are children’s perspective of values, their beliefs, goals and motives implicit or explicit in the learning of sociocultural values. The investigation uses the theoretical framework of Cultural Psychology in which Activity Theory is used to analyse and explain the school as an activity system. The working hypothesis is that activities are embedded into each other if they share a common object and envision a common outcome. The notion of embedded activities is developed based on the Engeströmian third generation Activity Theory model. The assumption is that if the school is the central activity system in a formal teaching and learning milieu, then other activities systems that support the teaching-learning processes constitute embedded activities. For instance, the classroom, a lesson, a morning assembly and any other project that contributes to the teaching-learning processes of sociocultural values. The method used for this investigation was ethnography. Data were collected using participant observation, interviews, still photographs, videography, school records, documents, and children’s artefacts. The data were analysed by Atlas.ti version 5.2 computer based qualitative data analysis software using strategies from Strauss and Corbin’s ‘microanalyses’ and Maykut and Morehouse’s ‘interpretive-descriptive’ strategy. The results showed that children at first learn sociocultural values from the culturally more able; in this way, values are taught through co-construction of knowledge. Children learn sociocultural values through what they do. This constitutes their activities: mental and practices as derived from their home ethos through to their school ethos. If this is missing, children will learn other values presuming these to be the best for their welfare, which may have undesirable outcomes and undesirable implications. Sociocultural theory provides the way out that initially children need to be taught the art of living by the culturally more able as the necessary thing to do.

Peru has diverse governmental and social initiatives that propose the use of different tools to ensure linguistic rights of indigenous languages speakers. This qualitative research analyzes El quechua en la función policial: Manual para el empleo del quechua en las comisarías (Quechua in the police work: Handbook of Quechua for Police Officers), a tool created by Wilfredo Ardito and Gavina Córdova aiming to facilitate Peruvian National Police (PNP) service in plurilingual contexts. The main objective of this study is to identify how theories about translation and interpreting as language mediation are shown in the handbook, understood as a training material for PNP officers to work as language mediators. In this manner, the aim is to identify and analyze the main accomplishments and limitations of the development and content of this handbook, so as suggesting strategies to possible improvements. To do so, the handbook was analyzed, and its authors were interviewed. Thereafter, their discourses were compared with theories of community interpreting. This research discovered that community interpreting is not yet perceived by the State as the main tool to address the need for a proper linguistic mediation within the intercultural communication challenge. Although there is a regulatory framework supporting the use of this discipline, there are no public policies nor any measures that assure it or regulate it. Therefore, an improvement model with recommendations based on translation and interpreting theories and localized in at a Peruvian context is proposed. / Tesis

Forms of Translation

Reid, Joshua 01 January 2019 (has links)
Translation occupied a central position among the literary and cultural forces that shaped the English Renaissance. Translators served as cross-cultural mediators, transforming works of classical antiquity, religion, and continental vernaculars for English consumption. These translations catalyzed verbal, genre, and stylistic transformation of the literary system, and the translators’ creative reshaping of their source texts continues to challenge traditional distinctions between translation and authorship.
