VENUE MANAGERS AND MEETING PLANNERS: A COMBINED PERSPECTIVE OF THEIR ROLES, RELATIONSHIPS, AND ATTRIBUTES NECESSARY FOR HOSTING A SUCCESSFUL MEETING

Adu, Maame Afua Offeibea 01 January 2018 (has links)
The purpose of this research was to gain the perspectives of venue managers and meeting planners on their roles in the meetings industry, their relationship with each other and attributes needed to host a successful meeting. An online survey was conducted involving these two stakeholders to define their roles, assess the strength of their relationship and identify attributes based on their experience with working together and hosting meetings. Results showed that venue managers and meeting planners are essential to the hosting of successful meetings. It also indicated that venue managers are willing to build and maintain stronger relationships with meeting planners and brought to light some attributes such as communication skills, responsiveness and self-competence, which when improved upon, could help achieve this. The study also presents a theoretical model of how stakeholder co-creation activities can drive more successful meetings.

The Applications of Experiential Theories in the Meeting Place of Direct Selling

Lee, Hsin-Hsin 12 September 2006 (has links)
Experience economy reinforces not only the correlation intensity between enterprise and its customers, but also the differentiations with competitors. Above all, it enhances value and price, and frees itself from price competition. The operation model and product / service are getting similar in the industry of direct selling, so consciousness of crisis urges those companies to keep close relationship with distributors. Except for reward system, the direct selling companies will seek for intensifying distributor¡¦s willingness and capabilities throughout training and marketing in the ¡§Meeting Place¡¨. The ¡§Meeting Place¡¨ can be regarded as the base where the potential distributors are nurtured. Hence, ¡§participating in every meeting¡¨ has become a key successful factor for direct selling. This study adopts the method of qualitative research to study how the various experiential theories apply to direct selling. It attempts to define and to confer the above-stated terms based on authors¡¦ practical participation experience and analyzes the triple role, consumer-seller-operator; a distributor plays in the mean time. The conclusions of this study are summarized as follows: ¤@Experiential theories are broadly used in the industry of direct selling, but they lack of systematic planning and thinking. ¤@Experiential theories can fit the triple role of different stages. ¤@A model of the activities in the ¡§Meeting Place¡¨ is built as reference of future application for scholars and direct selling operators.

How can Lean contribute to create effective meetings? : A case study at Ericsson in Borås

Au-Yeung, Ginsun, Andersson, Mattias January 2015 (has links)
Lean is a philosophy that has been studied extensively in recent years, and it has been successfully implemented in a number of different processes and businesses. This study aims to examine how Lean can contribute to create effective meetings, which is a topic that has received limited attention in today’s research. Firstly, a situation analysis is done in order to identify common meeting problems at Ericsson Borås. Secondly, a comprehensive analysis is conducted concerning whether Lean is applicable on meeting processes or not. This analysis is mainly based on the five principles of Lean Thinking. Thirdly, the study investigates the potential effect of an implementation of Lean, as well as how Lean principles can be applied in order to reduce or eliminate wastes. The result of the analysis formed the base for the development of the action plan. Subsequently, the action plan is implemented on the meeting processes by pilot testing it on three different meetings. This analysis is mainly focusing on whether the meeting problems have been eliminated or not. Based on our research, we have perceived that almost every meeting is unique and all meeting problems we have identified do not occur at all meetings. Majority of the meeting problems were eliminated by applying Lean principles. Moreover, several respondents also expressed that Lean is a good way to give more structure to meetings, and therefore contributes to more effective meetings. However, we have noticed that principles of Lean cannot eliminate all meeting problems at Ericsson. This can be seen as minor criticism when organizations use Lean as the only solution to improve meeting processes.

Preparing the Novice Teacher for the First ARD Meeting: The Role of the Module, Mentor and Multimedia

Dyke, April Lynette 16 December 2013 (has links)
The focus of this study was on the factors that play a role in preparing novice teachers for their first Admission Review and Dismissal (ARD) committee meeting. A mixed methods approach was used to answer the research question: Which resource plays a stronger role in the preparation of novice teachers for their first ARD meeting, previous college preparation courses, involvement in a mentoring program, or a Mock ARD Training Video specific to the district’s current expectations of an ARD meeting? This study incorporated pre- and post-surveys and interviews with novice teachers in various departments and grade levels after participating in their first ARD committee meeting. Due to the small sample size available of novice special education teachers in the district in one school year (three in 2012-2013), this study involved both general education and special education novice teachers during the 2012-2013 school year. Based on the findings of this study, recommendations were made to the district to address the identified areas of continued need as they apply to the ARD meeting process.

Collaborative and automatic annotations to improve the utility of recorded meetings

Jacoby, James Derek 07 December 2010 (has links)
In this thesis I present a collaborative annotation strategy to improve the usability of audio/visual meeting recordings. Meeting records are inherently difficult to navigate without structure, and even full transcripts do not always address this problem. Through the use of collaborative annotations some structure can be provided. The current study examines the use of a scalable classroom response system to allow groups to conveniently and easily provide these annotations during a class or meeting and presents a web-based video browser that uses these annotations to greatly improve the efficiency and satisfaction in a later information retrieval task. The applicability of this annotation strategy is discussed in a range of situations across formal meetings, classroom situations, and online audio and video.

Průběh valné hromady akciové společnosti / The course of a general meetings of a joint-stock company

Sáblíková, Martina January 2015 (has links)
- The course of general meetings of a joint-stock company The topic of this thesis is the course of general meetings of a joint-stock company. A joint stock-company is a limited company (a stock corporation), that means a company when membership in this company is connected with the obligation of investment contribution, either monetary or non-monetary, and that upon its formation, or when increasing its registered capital. The supreme body of a joint-stock company is the general meeting. The general meeting is a compulsory formed body regardless of the internal system of joint-stock companies, no matter if it is a monistic or dualistic board structure joint-stock company. With regard to the fact that it is compulsory, it is evident that the general meeting plays an important role in the functioning of the company itself. Within this thesis attention is also devoted to situations which are closely related to the course of general meetings. These are situations that precede general meetings, e.g. convening, and also situations after their closing. Within this thesis is also partly compared current legislation relating to joint stock companies, Act No. 90/2012 Sb., law on business corporations and cooperatives, with the previous related legislation, that means Act No. 513/1991 Sb., the Commercial...

Průběh valné hromady akciové společnosti / The course of a general meeting of a joint-stock company

Sladký, Filip January 2015 (has links)
The course of a general meeting of a joint-stock company The primary goal of the following diploma thesis is to comprehensively analyse the topic in question after the recent recodification of the Czech private law. The author aims to evaluate the current legal state of the course of a general meeting of a joint-stock company by studying multiple relevant sources, outlining the most important legal aspects and reviewing some of the frequently academically discussed contemporary issues and topics. Primarily the author aims to accomplish that by thoroughly studying and examining the newest legal doctrine and some of the most important existing judicial decisions. Systematically the thesis consists of four main chapters. The first chapter contains the general introduction of the matter and a legal definition of a joint-stock company while mainly focusing on its structure and bodies. The second chapter is divided into two parts and generally focuses on the matter of participation and the legal representation on a general meeting. The first part of the chapter highlights the legal reasons of why and by whom the general meeting of a joint-stock company can be convened. The author then defines and discusses all its possible participants in the following part of the chapter. The third chapter is devoted to...
