"At the Still Point of the Turning World"

McClure, Faith M 13 May 2011 (has links)
The history of landscape painting in the West has dictated and reiterated a phenomenological point-of-view derived from the Cartesian coordinate plane system. After having journeyed to northern India for eight months, I became influenced by other pictorial conceptions of space, namely the radial cosmological mandalas of Tibetan Buddhism and yantras of Hinduism. Unable to fully eliminate the coordinate plane system from the recess of my mind, I embarked upon a creative journey through consciousness in which my own studio practice provided the means to construct a new orientation, not only in terms of the perceivable, external world, but within the realm of my own embodied mind.

Finalmente as experimentações com monotipia e monoprint, seus problemas e desenvolvimentos, são apresentadas / Abstract: Monotipia / Monoprint: The singular image on the engraved multiple-process is a reflexion about the confrontations between theory and ¿práxis¿ on the production of the whole of Monotype and Monoprints developed from my contact with the Centro de Pesquisa em Gravura-Unicamp. This deposition, which doesn¿t limit to the present, seeks on what preceded the current moment to the genese of my poetic. I introduce the choice of paths and thematic associated to the technic questions that my generation, in it¿s development, caused problem. I make a brief mapping of the universe of the print, the ways of print and engraving and some definitions to the comprehension of the job proposal, involving the questions that build the graphic language and pointing out the conceptions of Monotopia and Monoprint. I appoint the theme Acteon, subject of the huge iconography in Art History, such as it is by me appropriated and treated. At last, the experimentations with monotopia and monoprint, it¿s problems and development, are presented.

Silva, Cássia de Castro 02 May 2016 (has links)
This work consists in a pictorical research based on the contemplation of Islamic Medieval Geometric Mosaics. The research comprehends the trajectory from the study of Mosaics\' warp, in which are shown their rithm and movement, towards the preparation and presentation of a corpus of works in design and painting that reveals the countless possibilities of moves \"encapsulated\" in the Mosaics.

CORRELATIONS

Toy, Randy Scott 01 January 2006 (has links)
I explore visual and process-based systems to solidify the allusive nature of conceptual ideas. Impermanence, time and interdependence are reoccurring themes that stem from an interest in Eastern philosophy. Oscillating from representation to abstract minimalism, printmaking to sculpture, each element in a work is tailored to the concept. The minimalist appearance suggests simplicity, however elaborate planning and systematic execution are at the heart of my practice. Systems create great constraint, yet provide great freedom.
