Can we recreate the ”Bengan Boys” era? : A case study on Athletic Talent Development Environment and psychological needs in young handball playersDahl, Mattias, Andersson, Viktor January 2015 (has links)
The study’s purpose was to describe a handball ATDE (Athletic Talent Development Environment) in the south of Sweden and to examine and derive the success factors of the ATDE, and within this context explore the motivational climate and autonomy support as perceived by members of the ATDE. The study is based on three theories: the Holistic ecological approach, Self Determination theory and Achievement Goal theory. The study’s participants all represented a club in the south of Sweden and consisted of players in the age of 15-19, the club manager, coaches and parents. The study was conducted through semi-structured interviews, observations and analysis of documents surrounding the club's vision and training/match policies. A total of seven interviews with four players, two coaches and the manager were conducted. Five observations at a minimum of 90 minutes gave the authors a broader view of the ATDE. An analysis of content and a triangulation with the supervisor were conducted in order to interpret the empirical data. The study revealed that the club is under re-organization, and its enthusiasm to evolve and become even better. The study found the ATDE to have a mastery oriented and autonomy supportive climate which in many ways contributed to the successful features of the ATDE. The study confirms earlier research regarding ATDE success factors as well as connections between SDT and AGT. The results also provide a deeper understanding of how successful factors, relationships, motivational climate and the autonomy support in an ATDE, affects young handball player’s motivation to evolve and reach their full potential. Implications with a basis in the theories used are presented.

A Thesis Submitted To The Graduate School Of Natural And Applied Sciences Of The Middle East Technical UniversityOzkan, Sule 01 January 2003 (has links) (PDF)
This study aimed to explore the roles of students& / #8217 / motivational beliefs
(self-efficacy, intrinsic value, test anxiety) and learning styles on tenth grade students& / #8217 / biology achievement. In this study Turkish version of the Motivated Strategies for Learning Questionnaire, Learning Style Inventory, and Biology Achievement Test were used as measuring instruments.
Motivated Strategies for Learning Questionnaire was adapted into Turkish
and pilot tested with 238 tenth grade students from two representative schools.
The main study was conducted in 11 randomly selected schools throughout the Ç / ankaya and Yenimahalle districts of Ankara with a total of 980 tenth grade
students in fall 2002-2003 semester.
The data obtained from the administration of the measuring instruments were analyzed by using analyses of covariance (ANCOVA) and bivariate correlations. Results of the statistical analyses indicated that students& / #8217 / learning styles had a significant effect on their biology achievement when students& / #8217 / motivational beliefs were controlled. The most common learning style type was
found to be assimilating for the subjects of this study. Moreover, the biology
achievement test mean scores of assimilators were found to be higher than that of convergers, divergers, and accommodators. Bivariate correlations revealed low positive correlations between each of the three components of motivational belief and students& / #8217 / biology achievement.

The aim of the present study was to develop knowledge about students’ motivation regarding the choice to attend university. A presentation of previous research is given, including motives to attend university from a sociological perspective focusing on general traditions regarding higher education. Previous research also focuses on individual aspects through motivational perspectives regarding education. This study aimed to study the phenomenon from the latter perspective. Using a qualitative method interviews with seven students was completed. The results showed that the students had been motivated to attend higher education partly because of the desire to acquire knowledge and partly to ultimately get a permanent job with a steady income and to be appreciated by other people. The results have been analyzed using Maslow’s theory of needs that includes five types of motivational needs (Maslow, 1987). The human needs that were reflected in the students motivational factors was the need for safety, the need for love and belongingness, the esteem needs, the cognitive need and self-actualization. We have found two motivational factors as the most influential. One is the motivation to attain a safe everyday life after graduation. The second concerns the motivation to acquire knowledge about the chosen topic.

[en] CROWDFUNDING AS A SOLUTION TO ENABLE INNOVATIVE PROJECTS / [pt] CROWDFUNDING COMO SOLUÇÃO PARA VIABILIZAÇÃO DE PROJETOS INOVADORESJOAO DIOGO LESSA DE M E S PAIXAO 23 August 2018 (has links)
[en] Multiple challenges are placed for entrepreneurs to reach their consumer market. Project finance is one of the most sensitive, given the scarcity and cost of capital. With the recent advancement of technology, new initiatives aim to strengthen this relationship and make business viable. Collaborative funding through crowdfunding presents itself as a solution to be explored in this study and the concept and adoption of innovation is analyzed as a differential factor in the reach of the necessary funds together with other motivational factors that guide the decision to support the projects. The practice is recent in Brazil, justifying the existence of few studies. The Research Methodology provides for the application of a logistic regression model, which is able to predict the probability that the project will achieve its goal in function of a set of independent variables. Finally, the application of the model allowed us to conclude that among the evaluated metrics the ones that favor success are the type of project to be all or nothing, the number of supporters, the average value donated and belong to the personal group. On the other hand, it pointed out that the variables innovation, arts, entrepreneurship and social do not influence the probability of the project reaching its goal.

Pracovní motivace k výkonu povolání sestry / Occupational motivation of nurses in relation to exercise of their professionŠÍROVÁ, Miluše January 2009 (has links)
We are now in the 21st century and each organisation is forced to be on the move and be dynamic, and this depends on the motivation of those working in the organisation in question. In any profession, and nursing is no exception, motivation at work is immediately reflected in everyone´s performance at work. The aim of this thesis was to chart the work motivation factors which support the decision to follow a nursing career and to map the use of motivational programmes by hospital management. Five hypotheses were established on the basis of these aims. Hypothesis 1: General nurses are motivated to pursue their career; this hypothesis was confirmed, as more than half of all nurses are satisfied with thein current positions and do not plan to leave their jobs within the next six years. Hypothesis 2: The main motivational factor to pursue a nursing career is salary assessment. This hypothesis was confirmed. This factor ranked sekond out of a total of sixteen. Hypothesis 3: For general nurses the prestige of the jo bis a motivational factor. This hypothesis was refuted; this factor ranked as the thirteenth most important. Hypothesis 4: General nurses see the possibility of further education as a motivational factor. This hypothesis was confirmed. 89 % of those questioned see this as a very important factor. Hypothesis 5: Hospitals have elaborated motivational programmes. This hypothesis was refuted. A qualitative examination of each of the interviews showed that the hospitals in question do not have motivational programmes. For the top management of hospitals these results can serve as impetus to implement new motivational programmes or procedures for assessing work performance and the effectiveness of educational activities in places where they are not yet in place.
