Detta är utgångspunkten för uppsatsen, som tar sin början i Antonovskys salutogena perspektiv och KASAM, vilket mäts kvantitativt på två grupper där Grupp 1 utgjordes av anställda på arbetsplatser där kulturaktiviteter regelbundet erbjöds och Grupp 2 av anställda på en arbetsplats utan kulturaktiviteter. Genom deltagarnas resultat på KASAM formuläret, utlästes att kulturaktiviteter och ett deltagande i dessa visar ett samband med en ökad KASAM hos individen. Uppsatsen diskuterar sedermera hur kulturkonsumtion kan vara en bidragande mental hälsofaktor av lika vikt som den av arbetsplatser mer erkända uppbyggnaden av fysisk hälsa, genom träning för förebyggande av sjukdom och ohälsa.</p>

Crafting connections: original music for the dance in Australia, 1960-2000.

This thesis documents the artistic connections made between composers and choreographers in Australia during the period 1960-2000. These 40 years saw a growth in the establishment of dance companies, resulting in many opportunities for composers to write original music for original dance works. The findings of original dance-music are tabulated in an extensive database giving details of 208 composers and over 550 music compositions written specifically for dance. Examples of choreographer and composer collaborative relationships and attitudes to each other???s artforms are discussed. Further examination of how these relationships have affected the sound of the music is detailed in four case studies. These concern the works The Display (music by Malcolm Williamson, choreography by Robert Helpmann, 1964), Poppy (music by Carl Vine, choreography by Graeme Murphy, 1978), Ochres (music by David Page, choreography by Stephen Page, 1994), and Fair Exchanges (music by Warren Burt and Ros Bandt, choreography by Shona Innes, 1989). These case studies look at dancemusic collaborated in different styles: ballet, modern dance, dance-theatre and experimental dance. This discussion is carried out through the analysis of the context of the collaborative relationships, and the temporal and interpretive aspects of the original dance-music. It is found through the investigation of collaborative relationships and discussion of these case studies, that similar methods of writing are used when composing music for theatrical dance, regardless of the type of dance. These methods show that composers have intentionally crafted scores that fulfil needs in the dance works and that are suited to choreographers??? intentions. Importantly, it is also found that involvement with dance has influenced some composers??? styles, aided musical innovation and added significantly to the corpus of Australian music.

Cette thèse porte sur la mise en scène des répertoires traditionnels ouïghours, dans sa forme musicale, chorégraphique et théâtrale. Depuis plusieurs décennies, les grands spectacles pluridisciplinaires mettent en scène l’héritage culturel ouïghour. Ces spectacles, créés par les artistes de la communauté eux-mêmes, visent cette même communauté. Ils passent par des processus de réarrangement, de canonisation et surtout de théâtralisation (à l’occidentale) pour rendre l’art traditionnel brut présentable sur une scène. Ces constats mènent à s’interroger sur la manière dont la société ouïghour contemporaine écoute ses musiques et regarde ses danses. Les questions du rôle de l’art et de la culture dans la vie quotidienne et de leur impact sur le sentiment d’appartenance nationale sont au cœur de ces réflexions. Ce travail s’intéresse à l’origine de la professionnalisation issue des mouvements réformistes dans les années 1920-30. La création de troupes artistiques a joué à la fois un rôle éducatif et divertissant, mais aussi de symbole de résistance. Au cours du siècle, ce mouvement artistique a traversé plusieurs périodes, parfois même douloureuses. Mais aujourd’hui, la scène artistique est productive et de plus en plus active. Cette thèse s'appuyant sur l’étude de sources, sur des enquêtes de terrain, l’analyse des discours et des spectacles, essaye de dégager les mécanismes de représentation de soi des artistes ouïghours, en tant que peuple et nation, aux yeux du monde extérieur. En affirmant l'identité ethnique, ces mises en scènes participent efficacement à la construction nationale, un combat qui touche toute la communauté ouïghour, et tente de dresser une image reconnue tant par ses membres qu’aux yeux du monde. / This thesis focuses on the staging of Uyghur traditional art in its musical, chorographical and theatrical forms. For decades, large multidisciplinary performances depicted the Uyghur cultural heritages. Distended to share with their own, these performances are created by the artists of the community. Rearrangement, canonization, dramatizing (in Western style) are used to transform traditional art, to be more attractive on stage. This created an outstanding “bricolage” of all aspect of one culture, to be put in one space and in a limited time. These findings lead to questioning the ways of listening to music and watching dance in contemporary Uighur society. Equally, this phenomenon questions the role of art and culture in their everyday life. Furthermore, the impact of all these transformation on the sense of national identity is at the heart of our reflections. This thesis is interested in the origin of artistic professionalization established by the reform movements in the 1920s-30s, which played a role of educating and at the same time entertaining the population/poeple, and became a symbole of resistence in the region. Today, the stage represents an important aspect of uyghur society. After many years of fieldwork, analysing the discourse and different kinds of professional performances this thesis identifies the self- representation mechanisms of Uyghurs, as one nation, one ethnic group, to the outside world. It relies on historical sources, years of fieldwork in different regions of Xinjiang, includes different kinds of professional or amateur performances, and interviews of the actors and experts's discourse.

Taktarter och dans : en studie i hur taktarter kan användas i jazzdansundervisning

The purpose of this essay is to inspire and find ways to incorporate different time signatures in jazz dance education. Through literature studies, a focus group and an own analysis leading up to the meeting with the focus group, I founded a base of knowledge, but also material to analyze. By comparing my different sources of information, I found that the different time signatures, have different qualities, but they are also affected by other factors such as the instruments, singing and how it is performed. During the meeting with the focus group, I also found that music and dance is personal and that feeling calm and secure with the music is important to be able to move freely to it. In the discussion I could see that there are a lot of ways that you can use different time signatures in jazz dance education. Some examples were to expand your musicality and musical knowledge, but also to highlight and use certain qualities in the different time signatures to develop your dynamic practice.

The thesis is devoted to the topic of Peruvian rural migrants in the capital of Lima and the maintaining their cultural identity through associations focused on folklore. In the first part I will outline the socio-economic reasons for migration and the adaptation issues of migrants in an urban environment. There are also described associations that provide economic as well as psychological support to immigrants. The main part is focused directly on folklore as the basis of identity and folklore associations in Lima. I chose folklore associations from Puno as a representative sample because of their rich cultural activities. I will demonstrate how organizations work, who their members are and what activities they pursue. The conclusion questions the modern musical fusions in Peru and the future of the Andean culture in an urban environment.
