A Liberdade nomeada - Leituras de CecÃlia Meireles para CÃnticos / The Freedom named - Reading of CecÃlia Meireles for Songs

EmÃlia Passos de Oliveira Bezerra 27 August 2007 (has links)
The dissertation examines the work Songs, Cecilia Meireles, highlighting the historical context-cultural, ideological and artistic of the twentieth century, from the close relationship of literature produced by the poet with the mysticism of the philosophies of the East, in particular, Buddhism, with the mystical poetry of the Indian poet Rabindranath Tagore and the speeches of peace Mahatma Gandhi and Vinoba Bhave. The work of the poetic corpus, still uses to support the writer Complete Poetry, the critical study conducted by Amy Zagury, "CecÃlia Meireles: news biographical, critical study, anthology, literature, discography, the score," and in the testimony of letters, interviews, books and chronic prefaciados as princiapal refuge. Using the methods descriptive, analytical, interpretive-comparison, the search is divided into five stages, where: "Initial considerations", "The twentieth century", "Songs - named Freedom," "The Bilbioteca way" and, finally, as a conclusion, "The uniqueness of mystical corner."

Le soufisme de Roumi reçu et perçu dans les mondes anglophone et francophone : étude des traductions anglaises et françaises / Rumi’s Sufism Received in and Perceived by the English-speaking and French-speaking Worlds : A study of the English and French Translations

Sedaghat, Amir 15 December 2015 (has links)
Calâleddin Mohammad Balxi or Rumi, a Persian mystical poet of the 13th century, is amongst the best known in the West and one of the most translated authors of Persian literature, especially in English. This is due to the abundance of his poetic works which consist of mystical and didactic Masnavi e ma’navi and a collection of lyrical qazals and quatrains, Divân e Şams e Tabrizi. He is also known and translated because of the relatively recent strong appeal of his poems, with their spiritual undertone, to the North American audience. Rumi’s poems appeared sporadically in German, English and French since the beginning of the 19th century until the full English translation of Masnavi in the early 20th century. Ever since, the English-speaking world has had waves of reception thanks to numerous retranslations and adaptations. In the French-speaking world, however, the reception of Rumi has been far less important: the majority of the translations were introduced in the second half of the 20th century and failed to find an equally enthusiastic audience. Despite numerous translations in both languages, transferring the poetic discourse of Rumi to French and English is a particularly complicated task, considering the specificities of Persian poetry and the mystical quality of his thought. In this study, we will first look into the principal obstacles that translators must surmount and we will work from linguistic, semiotic, stylistic, poetic, and hermeneutic perspectives. We will subsequently show how this transferring process has been carried out by French and English-speaking translators of various periods by applying the principles of Berman’s theory of translation ethics to their works. Working from a diverse bilingual corpus and using the sociolinguistic theories of translation, the present thesis intends to explain the differences in the level and nature of this reception in the two target cultural spheres.

Vélez Pelaez, Sergio Esteban 12 1900 (has links)
This thesis aims to place the work of the Colombian poet Olga Elena Mattei within the Colombian poetry of her time (1962-2005). In the first chapter, some theoretical concepts are defined and the term "canon", focused on poetry, is explained. In the second chapter, the landscape of the Colombian poetry of the second half of the twentieth century is set. The style of the most important poets, who are considered as canonical, is presented. In the last chapter, the peculiarities of Mattei's poetry are analyzed. It is concluded that Olga Elena Mattei is part of the canon of the Colombian poetry, but her work has challenged the dominant trends over the decades. For example, it is shown how, in the sixties of the twentieth century, when, in Colombia, rhyme and metrics were still preponderant in poetry, Olga Elena Mattei dared to write and publish in free verse. In the seventies, when free verse was accepted and it reigned in the Colombian poetry, Mattei was the first woman to write anti-poetry in Spanish. In the eighties, while anti-poetry was the main trend in Colombian poetry, Mattei devoted herself to write poetry about science, never wrote in Colombia before. And in the nineties, when free verse is dominant in Colombia, Mattei returns to rhyme.
