Barreto Mardini, Mariafé Carolina, Soto Meza, Lucy Caterine 08 November 2019 (has links)
In Peru, studies regarding institutional translation, community translation and translation of indigenous languages are relatively new. Most studies that focus on these topics do not cover all aspects of the translator’s duties nor the role each participant plays in the translation process; specifically, indigenous language translators and state agencies. As a result, even if there exists certain documents intended to lead the joint work between state agencies and indigenous language translators, those guidelines may be influenced by the roles of each participant. Moreover, this work dynamic might not resemble the ones studied in other contexts. Consequently, it is possible that the interaction between both parties have particularities that may impact the process of indigenous translation in Peru. The current study is a multiple case study that has two analysis units: the perspective of the indigenous language translators and those of the state agencies. The data will be collected through interviews. / Trabajo de investigación

Perfil profesional y percepciones de los intérpretes de lenguas originarias dentro del sistema judicial peruano en la actualidad / Current Indigenous languages community interpreter's professional profile and perceptions in the Peruvian judicial system

Matayoshi Shimabukuro, Bryan, Montalvo Guerrero, Kerly 11 November 2019 (has links)
This research paper analyzes the different perspectives from a group of interpreters of indigenous languages accredited by the Peruvian Ministry of Culture about their interpreting work within the Peruvian judicial system. The study was conducted through qualitative data collection methods, with semi-structured interviews being conducted with six interpreters of different indigenous languages. Through the investigation, we identified their first and second language learning processes as well as the development of their competences during their training and working experiences as translators and interpreters of indigenous languages, and also from other professional work experiences, as they mentioned that the translation and interpreting of indigenous languages is a secondary professional activity for them due to the lack of demand of this service. Furthermore, the interpreters’ linguistic activism was analyzed through their professional activities. Finally, we assessed the interpreter’s perceptions regarding their role, their status within Peruvian society, and the circumstances of the judicial system, factors that influence indigenous language interpreting due the existing power dynamics in this context.

Paula, Danytiele Cristina Fernandes de January 2019 (has links)
(Resumo completo, clicar acesso eletrônico abaixo) / Abstract: The main purpose of this research was to investigate the relations of transparency and opacity in the Naduhup family's native languages through different phenomena, such as apposition, cross-reference, clause agreement, etc., taken as parameters for the study of transparency under the grammar theoretical apparatus of Functional Discourse Grammar, developed by Hengeveld and Mackenzie (2008). Thus, not only is a functional perspective assumed, but also a new approach to this phenomenon from the scope of Functional Discourse Grammar, which, thanks to its descending layer organization, allows the definition of transparency considering the alignment between and within the levels of theory analysis, which represents a concept innovation - traditionally conceived as the relationship between form and meaning. The fundamental hypothesis of the paper is that the languages of the same family share transparent and/or opaque features such that the fundamental linguistic characteristics of a family can be defined based on this sharing. Thus, the overall objective is to ascertain how sharing of transparency/opacity traces occurs in the Naduhup family languages. For this, we used as corpus of analysis four indigenous languages - dâw, hup, yuhup and nadëb - described in grammars and theses constituting a representative sample of the Naduhup family. Language analyzes were performed using the opacity criteria defined in Hengeveld (2011), Leufkens (2015) and Hengeveld and Leufkens (2018), in ord... El proceso de doblaje del español al quechua chanka de la serie animada infantil peruana Ciudad Jardín / The dubbing process of the Peruvian children’s animated series Ciudad Jardín from Spanish to Quechua Chanka

Barrientos Ventocilla, Melanie Paola, Cámara León, Douglas David 10 January 2022 (has links)
Dubbing processes are similar around the world. However, there are some countries or dubbing studios that have their own conventions which determine the course of the dubbing process. Torre A, the Lima-based dubbing studio responsible for dubbing Ciudad Jardin from Spanish to Quechua Chanka, has its own conventions for its Spanish dubs. Nevertheless, dubbing animated series Ciudad Jardin into Quechua Chanka was a particular case because of the target language, the addition of new agents, and the involvement of Instituto Nacional de Radio y Televisión del Perú (IRTP) during the process. This research studies the dubbing process of Ciudad Jardín in order to describe and recognize the practices the agents adopted to overcome the particularities of this process. For that purpose, the phases of this dubbing process and the interactions between the agents during the process will be identified. It is expected that the process consisted of six phases determined by Chaume (2004) and another phase dedicated to training the voice actors. Furthermore, it is assumed that the translator and the adapter worked together to carry out the translation and the adaptation of the script. It is also assumed that a linguistic consultant supported the dubbing director in the selection and the voice actors training. Since it is a peculiar phenomenon whose context influenced its development, the case study method will be used to verify these assumptions. Additionally, applying interviews to the agents of the process to gather information is proposed. / Trabajo de investigación

English Can Be Efficient within Swedish Business, Although Code Shifting Often Appears : A Study of English as a Lingua Franca in a Business Context at a Swedish Company

Verrone, Sandra January 2023 (has links)
This study aims to explore how the application of Business English as a Lingua Franca (BELF) is perceived among the employees at a chosen company, exploring to what extent BELF is used, and identifying opportunities and challenges of BELF. Using a qualitative research methodology conducted through semi-structured interviews, consisting of six participants, the study delves into the usage of BELF in a bigger Swedish company, how the employees experience it, and what factors matter for its outcome. The results show overwhelmingly positive experiences of BELF among respondents, primarily due to its necessity and appreciated utility in facilitating communication with customers and colleagues who do not share the same mother tongue, emphasizing the significant role of English in diverse business contexts. However, despite the generally positive outlook, challenges such as multilingual meetings, code shifting, misunderstandings in different contexts, and a restricted vocabulary, are identified.

Komunikace mezi Španěly a Indiány během dobývání Ameriky / Communication Between Conquerors and Natives During the Conquista

Pastyříková, Helena January 2019 (has links)
In my diploma thesis I analyze the key issues connected with the difficulties of communication between Spaniards and native inhabitants after the arrival to the American continent in 1492. Concretely, I focus on the first period of contact with the indigenous population. In the first part of the thesis I describe the historical and political situation in the area. Then I characterize the language policy of the Spanish court and also the linguistic situation in Latin America after the arrival of Spaniards. Next part of the thesis is dedicated to dominant Indian languages, which were used for the communication of colonizers and indigenous people and had the most significant influence on the Spanish language. There is also characteristic of the role of interpreters and importance of signs for communication during the conquest of America. The third chapter is dedicated firstly to the theoretical definition of the basic terms relevant for the topic. I describe the ways of enriching the vocabulary of languages and I explain the way how the new vocabulary was transmitted during communication between the Spaniards and the Indians. I also mention the categories of vocabulary which were most influenced by the indigenous languages with examples of loanwords from native languages in Spanish. In final part I...

Language Politics of the Mexican State regarding native languages and the funding of literary production

Paprckova, Lucia January 2022 (has links)
This thesis strives to understand the underlying narrative behind the current distribution of the public funding between the writers of the Spanish language and writers of native languages in Mexico, as well as contextualise the policies of the Mexican State that often materialise colonial dynamics. The situation of native women writers is emphasised as they are forced to tackle multiple disadvantages based on unjust social structures. At the same time, the concept of national and world literary canon plays an exclusionary role when it comes to inclusion of diverse literary oeuvres that represent different versions of the world as the one traditionally carried by European languages and their literary works.
