Spolupráce orgánů krizového řízení územních samosprávných celků a nestátních neziskových organizací při řešení mimořádných událostí / The cooperation between emergency management authorities in territorial self-governing units and non-governmental non-profit organisations addressing major emergenciesMIKEŠOVÁ, Věra January 2019 (has links)
Nowadays, more and more major emergencies of natural or anthropogenic origin are occurring, which often become crisis situations. Crisis management is set up to deal with these events and has the task of providing comprehensive preparation for their management. In recent years, crisis management authorities have been using non-governmental non-profit organizations to work together to contribute to crisis management, particularly in the provision of humanitarian assistance to the affected population. The diploma thesis focuses on crisis management authorities of territorial self-governing units and on non-governmental non-profit organizations, which are part of the South Bohemian Region Panel, which is a free association of participants and is established for the purpose of their coordination in providing forces, resources and activities to the South Bohemian Region in dealing with major emergencies and crisis situations. The aim of the thesis is to analyse the possibilities of cooperation between crisis management authorities and non-governmental non-profit organizations operating in the South Bohemian Region in deploying the forces and resources needed to deal with emergencies and crisis situations and cooperation of the above mentioned entities during the floods in 2013. In order to achieve the determined objective and obtain objective results, quantitative research was applied, using a questionnaire survey. It was applied to crisis management personnel of the municipality with extended powers within the South Bohemian Region. Furthermore, a qualitative research was conducted in the form of a controlled interview with representatives of non-governmental non-profit organizations who are members of the Panel of the South Bohemian Region. The information obtained from the non-profit organizations and the evaluation of the questionnaire survey from the crisis management personnel show that the research questions are answered positively, i.e. the cooperation between the above-mentioned entities worked without major problems in 2013. The crisis management authorities used assistance from non-governmental non-profit organizations to a greater extent in monitoring the situation, material assistance and manual assistance, to a lesser extent financial and psychosocial assistance. Thanks to the experience gained by the above-mentioned entities during the floods in 2013, but especially during previous major emergencies or crisis situations, there is a constant development in the area of cooperation between them. In order to improve mutual cooperation, there are training sessions, meetings and exercises organized by the South Bohemian Region, integrated rescue system units, non-profit organizations as well as crisis management personnel of the municipality with extended powers. The results of the analysis of the thesis can serve as a basis for increasing the efficiency and improving the cooperation in deploying forces and resources by crisis management authorities and non-governmental non-profit organizations, as well as study material.

Series: Working Papers / Institute for Nonprofit Management

Negócios sociais e valores pessoais: um estudo quantitativo com estudantes de administração / Social business and personal values: a quantitative study with business administration studentsRosolen, Talita 03 October 2014 (has links)
Social and environmental challenges resulting from the current economic system began to gain more space in the discussions and activities of business, government and civil society. Concepts such as sustainable development, corporate social responsibility and sustainability have become increasingly widespread and social business emerged as a new kind of organization, whose purpose is the generation of social and/or environmental value along with the financial, and its model may vary between the private and the third sector. For the strengthening of such organizations, it is necessary to have professionals with values related to the care of others and with the collective, which can direct to act in a socially or environmentally responsible way. Simultaneously to the evolution of the field of social business, it could be noticed the growing number of people seeking responsible professional occupations linked to their values, independently of organizational boundaries, which are characteristics of boundaryless career and the protean career. Given the importance of individual action in the strengthening of social business, and the major role of personal values in the career decisions of individuals, there is a need for researches that examine the connection between social business and personal values. Thus, this study aims to investigate the interest and intent of business administration students in working in social business and the relation with their personal values. The methodology was descriptive and quantitative, using a survey to collect data from business administration students from three universities in São Paulo. The results indicated that over a third of the respondents revealed the intention of working with social business in the short or long term, which can be considered a significant amount, considering that social businesses are more recent type of organizations. The variance analyses performed indicated no statistical evidence that, in this sample of data, there are differences in interest in social business between students that prioritize conservation values and students that prioritize openness to change values. On the other hand, there is statistical evidence to support that the interest in working with social business is different among respondents who prioritize values related to self-enhancement versus self-transcendence. It was possible to verify the positive trend in working with social business by students who prioritize values related to the self-transcendence dimension, including the motivational types Benevolence and Universalism. These results indicate the growing importance of values related to personal and society well being to the careers of individuals and reinforce the growing field of social business as well as the professional opportunities it offers.

This study aims at identifying the accounting approach given to gratuities granted by nonprofit organizations of social welfare through the documented survey of thirty-six financial statements published on "Jornal do Comércio", in the edition of April, 2009 .At the same time, seventeen administrative appeals issued by the Brazilian Welfare Revenue auditors were analyzed and accounting discrepancies were appointed, causing the Certificate of Beneficial Institution of Social Welfare to be dismissed. The concept of gratuities seen from the Social Science point of view, as well as the path of social work practice in Brazil was sought for the theoretical underlying of this study. From the accounting theory viewpoint, gratuity was analyzed as an expense - a revenue deduction - by comparing revenue and expense, as well as accounting it for in the compensating group. Analyzing the data obtained from the financial statements, one can see that most of them comply with the fiscal law, whereas the accounting standard fulfillment, issued by the Federal Council of Accounting, has not been fully carried out in any of the published statements.

”LÄMNA VÄRLDEN SOM EN LITE BÄTTRE PLATS ÄN NÄR MAN KOM” : En studie om drivkrafter till mäns ideella engagemangBäckström, Annelie, Wänting, Malin January 2019 (has links)
Volunteering in non-profit organizations is characteristic for Nordic countries and Sweden especially. The most common gender division is, that men tend to be active within sports clubs, often in leading positions or as members at the board. For women it is more common to be part of social organizations, taking care of others. With this existing knowledge as a starting point, this study examines what motivates young men in Sweden who takes part in organizations that practice activities typically coded as feminine. The study is qualitative as we want to examine the intentions, and the feelings participants have about their engagement in these organizations. The collected data was analyzed through thematic analysis. For the purpose of this undergraduate dissertation the authors have studied an organization called Vän In Umeå and interviewed five young men involved in the organization as well as had informal conversations with women working in it. The theoretical framework for the study is based upon the concept of social capital, social exchange theory and theory of motivation. The results show that the young men´s social capital is important for how and if the engagement arises and develops. Another finding is that the will to grow as a person and to be a part of something bigger motivates the men in their volunteering, as well as feelings of doing something of value for another person.

Välgörenhetsorganisationers marknadsföring : <em>"First they open their hearts, then their minds and then they will open their wallets". </em>(Maud Randel)Carlsson, Mita, Ekholm, Karin, Zamorano, Nathalie January 2009 (has links)
<p><p>Our reason for this study is to research how non- profit organizations focused on fundraising, market themselves to create and keep the relationships with their potential and existing contributors. With this study we also want to create an image of the meaning of marketing, applied to non- profit organizations focused on fundraisings, struggle towards attracting more contributors. We also aim to research what our respondents believe will be the outcomes of marketing on nonprofit organizations in the future. For this essay we have chosen a qualitative method which consists of six interviews with respondents whom have different knowledge and experiences of the non- profit sector. We chose this method to be able to view our main subject from different aspects and through the interviews also form a more profound picture of the non- profit sector and also, finally, se what the respondents think about the issue. We have further from our analysis formed a discussion which has later brought us to our conclusions. We can therefore with this state that the marketing of non- profit organizations focused on fundraising is essential to be able to form relationships with potential contributors. We also find that these organizations trough marketing communications can enhance their brand and attract the attention of the people. Our conclusion also shows that the marketing of non- profit focused on fundraising can result in both positive and negative effects. Ultimately we find through our discussion that, the non- profit organizations focused on fundraising lack different aspects of their planning and we therefore find that the primary improvement is not only by feedback to the contributors but also by making different activities to further create strong relationship with their contributors and partners.</p></p>

Soft Workfare? Re-orienting Toronto's Social Infrastructure Towards EmploymentReid-Musson, Emily R. 15 February 2010 (has links)
This research tracks the emergence of ‘soft’ workfare in Toronto. This refers to a set of attitudes and practices apparent in the delivery of welfare-to-work programs through the Ontario Works framework, which use compulsion to push people towards employment while simultaneously encouraging limited and specific practices of individual choice. Research findings are derived from eight interviews and relevant policy reports, focusing on the experiences of three non-profit agencies and the City of Toronto, who provide employment assistance and financial assistance through Ontario Works, respectively. These findings indicate that grassroots organizations pioneered employment services for social assistance recipients, and, alongside the municipal government, had been calling for active employment programs. They made use of the distance between policy rules and their own programs to alleviate the most punitive features of OW, but judge compulsion as a means to meet a necessary end. This demonstrates how disciplinary tendencies reside within liberal governmentalities.
