However, despite the Indian policy of ethnic and cultural preservation, the Constitution allowed the exploitation of minerals in aboriginal territory, incorporated herein hydrocarbons, provided they meet certain predetermined requirements, leaving it to the legislature the discipline of ordinary matter. However, this law has not yet been published, with some projects in the National Congress, leaving thus precluding the indigenous subsurface oil exploration until the enactment of enabling legislation. Meanwhile, this paper carries out an integrated analysis of the constitutional protection of ethnic and cultural uniqueness of indigenous peoples, Convention N? 169 of the International Labour Organization and the bill presented by Deputy Eduardo Valverde, in an attempt to consolidate sustainable development practices in the sector, through developing a system of social and environmental responsible oil exploration, aligning with national energy needs to maintain a balanced environment and preservation of socio-cultural organization of a minority so weakened and beaten over five centuries of domination / Reconhecendo a necessidade de preservar uma minoria ?tnica nacional, a Constitui??o Federal, inspirada nos valores pluralistas do Estado Constitucional de Direito, estipulou uma s?rie de direitos e garantias em prol da conserva??o da singularidade cultural ind?gena, perfilhando em seu artigo 231 o direito dos ?ndios em manter sua organiza??o social, seus costumes, l?nguas, cren?as e tradi??es, al?m de resguardar os direitos origin?rios sobre as terras que tradicionalmente ocupam e o usufruto exclusivo das riquezas nelas existentes, premissa inafast?vel da garantia de sua continuidade f?sica e cultural, rompendo definitivamente com o paradigma da assimila??o do ?ndio ? civiliza??o nacional.

Crizel, Tainara de Moraes January 2017 (has links)
Every day tons of fruit processing residues are discarded worldwide that could be harnessed for their high nutritional and functional power and that end up being wasted and generating problems for the environment. Another inadequate disposal that aggravates this environmental problem is the plastic packaging, which when not subjected to the recycling process bring huge damages. Due to these factors, this study aims at the utilization of by-products of the food industry for the development of active biodegradable packaging. Firstly, four residues obtained from different fruits, processing residue of blueberry juice (bagasse), processing residue of olive oil (bagasse), peels of papaya and pineapple were evaluated. The physicochemical, functional and antioxidant properties of these residues were analyzed, and in general, all showed high total dietary fiber content. In relation to the functional properties, papaya flour was distinguished by high water and oil retention capacity, high solubility and higher carotenoid content (15.56 ± 0.35 mg / 100g). The blueberry flour had the highest antioxidant power by the DPPH method (4.62 ± 0.18 IC50 in mg of flour) and a higher content of phenolic compounds (23.59 ± 0.85 mg / g GAE), in addition, it exhibited a high content of anthocyanins. Due to these properties, the flour and extract of the blueberry residue were incorporated into the gelatin from the processing residue of chia oleuroceutical capsules for the development of active biodegradable films for packaging. The films were evaluated in relation to their mechanical properties, water vapor barrier, and UV light, antioxidant capacity and application as packaging in food products. The results suggested that fiber addition promoted a decrease in tensile strength and an increase in water vapor permeability. However, the addition of fiber also provided a significant increase in the UV light barrier at 500 nm being effective in reducing the lipid oxidation of sunflower oil. Films with added extract showed no change in mechanical or barrier properties compared to the control formulation. In addition, these films exhibited a stable antioxidant capacity for 28 days. Films developed with papaya flour and gelatin residues showed similar behavior to films with blueberry residues since papaya flour also altered some of the original properties of the film as mechanical and barrier properties, and added antioxidant power. In order to improve these properties microparticles of papaya peel flour were then developed in spray drying using the gelatin residue as the wall material. The results indicated that the microparticles of papaya peel, when added to gelatin, gave a more continuous and homogeneous film matrix increasing tensile strength and Young's modulus. Microparticles films (7.5%), when applied as packaging material for lard, were the most efficient as active barriers (higher antioxidant activity) because a lower peroxide content was quantified in the sample after 22 days. The residue flour from olive oil production was also used for the development of biodegradable films, but the biopolymer used was chitosan. The incorporation of olive residue flour in the chitosan matrix also caused changes in the morphology, making the film more heterogeneous and rough. For this reason, the addition of olive flour microparticles in the films was tested. The addition of 10% of olive microparticles significantly improved the tensile strength of films without altering their original properties. The flour and the microparticles of olive increased the antioxidant capacity of the films; this increase was proportional to the concentration of flour or micro added to the film. Films with 30% flour or microparticles were effective as protective packaging against Walnut oxidation for 31 days. From the results obtained in this work, it is evident the viability of the use of residues from the food and waste industry of the nutraceutical capsule industry for the development of films and use as biodegradable packaging in different products.

Abstract: Petrobras is one of the largest oil companies in the world with an amazing portfolio of investments, especially in activities of exploration and production of oil and gas in the Brazilians sea basins. Moreover, this government-linked company will invest large amounts of capital in coming years to enable the production fields located in the pre-salt, a new exploratory frontier. In this context, becomes evident the importance of a research that aims to investigate the potential of Petrobras's mass of investments on the local suppliers. This is justly the objective of this thesis, in other words, to bring elements that contribute to the understanding of Petrobras procurement policy impacts. More precisely, it is intended with this study to examine how the participation in Petrobras's orders promote technological learning in brazilian suppliers. To reach these objectives, initially it is introduced a review based on works around the subject of public procurement policy, focusing on a particular type of public sector order, here called government procurement of innovative nature. Then, it's investigated the question of learning technology, with emphasis on the literature of newly industrializing countries, as well as the main types of learning presented in this literature. A characterization of the oil and gas industry and oil and gas equipment and service industry is shown in this study, in which the relationship between these two industries is stressed in order to give foundation to further discussion. Finally, it is examined the Petrobras's procurement policy for its offshore enterprises, with the challenge of tying the topics covered throughout the work, from the completion of a study about the P-51 platform projetc. This study is based on a survey of information from interviews with Petrobras, its EPCistas and some of subcontractors to provide equipment and services to this project. The results of field research suggests that participation in the P-51 project did not allow the absorption of advanced learning by participating companies, with the exception of the national operator, the company responsible for the design project of this platform. This finding supports the main hypothesis of this study, that is, Petrobras does not adopt a procurement policy of innovative nature. / Doutorado / Mestre em Política Científica e Tecnológica

The Evolution of Industry towards Sustainability : A Case Study of the Olive Oil Industry

Anwana, Edward, Azaizeh, Zaid E., Özmen, Onur, Tebeck, Ndi George January 2006 (has links)
In this thesis, the need for the step by step transformation of industry towards sustainability is emphasized. This work involves looking at the Olive Oil Industry (OOI) from a systems perspective through the lens of Strategic Sustainable Development (SSD) and applying backcasting from a principled view of socio-ecological sustainability. A specific project is also looked at, the Integrated Waste Management Project (IWMP), which aims at contributing to the sustainability of this particular industry. The OOI was analysed through the ABCD methodology, a tool used in planning for SSD, and measures were drawn up to guide the industry’s transformation. Following this analysis, the IWMP was examined within the context and results of the OOI research. Overall, the industry is transitioning and the IWMP is a good opportunity and contributor to the evolution of the Olive Oil Industry towards sustainability. At the same time, OOI and other industries would benefit greatly from embracing a systems perspective and a strategic approach for sustainable development.

Dentre as principais contribuições do CEPETRO ao setor estão o avanço nos conhecimentos científicos e tecnológicos e a formação de recursos humanos especializados / Abstract: The sectoral system of innovation in the oil industry is one of the most dynamic in terms of technology, within the Brazilian economy. Assessment Of Disruption Risk In Supply Chain The Case Of Nigeria’s Oil Industry

Aroge, Olatunde O. January 2018 (has links)
evaluate disruption risks in the supply chain of petroleum production. This methodology is developed to formalise and facilitate the systematic integration and implementation of various models; such as analytical hierarchy process (AHP) and partial least squares structural equation model (PLS-SEM) and various statistical tests. The methodology is validated with the case of Nigeria’s oil industry. The study revealed the need to provide a responsive approach to managing the influence of geopolitical risk factors affecting supply chain in the petroleum production industry. However, the exploration and production risk, and geopolitical risk were identified as concomitant risk factors that impact performance in Nigeria’s oil industry. The research findings show that behavioural-based mechanisms successfully predict the ability of the petroleum industry to manage supply chain risks. The significant implication for this study is that the current theoretical debate on the supply chain risk management creates the understanding of agency theory as a governing mechanism for supply chain risk in the Nigerian oil industry. The systematic approach results provide an insight and objective information for decisions-making in resolving disruption risk to the petroleum supply chain in Nigeria. Furthermore, this study highlights to stakeholders on how to develop supply chain risk management strategies for mitigating and building resilience in the supply chain in the Nigerian oil industry. The developed systematic method is associated with supply chain risk management and performance measure. The approach facilitates an effective way for the stakeholders to plan according to their risk mitigation strategies. This will consistently help the stakeholders to evaluate supply chain risk and respond to disruptions in supply chain. This capability will allow for efficient management of supply chain and provide the organization with quicker response to customer needs, continuity of supply, lower costs of operations and improve return on investment in the Nigeria oil industry. Therefore, the methodology applied provide a new way for implementing good practice for managing disruption risk in supply chain. Further, the systematic approach provides a simplistic modelling process for disruption risk evaluation for researchers and oil industry professionals. This approach would develop a holistic procedure for monitoring and controlling disruption risk in supply chains practices in Nigeria.

Regime maintenance in post-Soviet Kazakhstan : the case of the regime and oil industry relationship (1991-2005)

Ostrowski, Wojciech January 2008 (has links)
The main aim of this thesis is to investigate the ways in which the authoritarian regime in post-Soviet Kazakhstan maintained itself in power from 1991 until 2005. This study endeavours to uncover the palette of the regime’s methods by analysing the ways in which it went about controlling the oil industry – an industry with which the political and economical future of Kazakhstan is inseparably intertwined. The empirical section of this study investigates the interplay between the regime and the actors located in and around two cores: the National Oil Company and the oil-rich areas. This thesis focuses in particular on instances where players involved with the oil industry, whether directly or indirectly, attempted to challenge the regime’s authority in those two centres either due to greed or grievances. It is argued that these moments of crisis reveal the regime’s maintenance techniques, and can precipitate the deployment of new methods of maintenance in response to them. In order to account for the techniques that the Kazakh ruling regime applied in structuring its relationships with the oil industry, this thesis shifts the emphasis from the prevalent zhuz-horde, tribe, and clan-based approaches to Kazakh politics towards formal (corporatism) and informal (patron-client) mechanisms of control.

Soviet Oil Politics and the Middle East

Abbas, Ehsan A. R. 12 1900 (has links)
This investigation, covering the past two decades, attempts to determine what benefits the Soviets have sought to gain in their relationships with Middle Eastern oil-producing nations. Chapter I surveys the U.S.S.R.'s oil industry and its tentative prospects for the 1980's. Chapter II discusses Soviet involvement in the Middle East since 1950, including nationalization and oil embargoes. In Chapter III, developments less favorable to the U.S.S.R. are, analyzed: the growing influence of conservative, anti -Soviet oil-producing states and the deradicalization of other Middle Eastern nations. Chapter IV concludes that the Soviets have met with varying success in their Middle Eastern involvements. The future of their oil industry remains uncertain.

Luigi, Vincent 02 1900 (has links)
Mots- / The influence of Multinational oil corporations in contemporary society is becoming an increasingly central element of human rights and sustainable development problematic. There are now many MNOCs operating in both private and public sectors with remarkably diverse objectives and strategies. Thanks to large budgets and complex advanced technology, they are responsible for exploration, production, refining and crude oil distribution. In order to address the imbalance between industrial oil and lessdeveloped countries, the world commission on environment and development has early pointed up the term « sustainable development » which is « that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs ». As a result, the oil and gas sector has been among the leading industries in championing Corporate Social Responsibility a while ago. Oil companies attach greater importance to their economical, social and environmental impact and they also pay more and more attention to their image. Among other things, this phenomenon is demonstrated by the extraordinary growth in corporate codes of conduct and CSR initiatives such as Kofi Annan’s Global Compact. However, the effectiveness of these initiatives has been regularly questioned and there is a mounting evidence of a gap between the statements of principles and the real actor’s behaviour on the field. Finally, is a conciliation possible?

His broad and decisive exercise as an intellectual in the Brazilian sociocultural context is revealed in many publications that were called, here, oil discourse. With the purpose of contributing to strengthen the relations between discourse studies and literary studies, three of Lobato’s publications approaching the oil theme were delimited as the object of study of this dissertation. Such publications are at the crossroads between general literature and children’s literature: the preface of A luta pelo petróleo [Flüssiges gold], by Essad Bey, a book released in Brazil in 1935; O escândalo do petróleo e ferro [The scandal of oil and iron, published in 1936; and O poço do Visconde [The Viscount’s well], published in 1937, targeted at children and adolescents. From the theoretical-methodological point-ofview, some procedures and concepts proposed and developed by Dominique Maingueneau in many of his works were used in this study – paratopia, interdiscourse, enunciation scenes, ethos, authorship, discourse and discursive practice –, as well as some contributions provided by the ergologic approach. The study fostered a new evaluation of the oil discourse produced by Monteiro Lobato when he moved from the literary institution to the arena of discussions concerning the economic policy. Monteiro Lobato’s works studied here reveal a man of multiple activities located in a paradoxical space, and a spokesperson for a group of renovation and rupture, whose intellectual legitimacy and influence on the public enabled him to promote his own ideological and political convictions in a crucial moment of Brazil’s history. These works corroborate his discourse in defense of the country’s development and financial independence through oil prospecting / Esta tese tem por objetivo compreender, a partir de uma perspectiva enunciativodiscursiva, a atuação e o engajamento político e econômico do escritor Monteiro Lobato em defesa da causa petrolífera no Brasil.
