Development of a Generic PDA Based Control Mechanism for in-house Fabricated Miniature Sensors

Kedia, Sunny 19 November 2004 (has links)
A novel method of controlling miniature sensors using Handspring Visor Prism PDA has been implemented. A generic motherboard was developed to map the data and address lines from the Visor onto a Complex Programmable Logic Device (CPLD) to provide basic electrical signals to the sensor board. The sensor board housed the sensor and contained application specific circuitry. The PDA, the motherboard, and the sensor board completed the control mechanism for the sensor. Miniature sensors and PDA based control mechanism scaled down the size of the complete system making the unit portable. This unit facilitated a faster analysis of data on field. Two applications were targeted: Flurometer (bio-sensor) and Corner Cube Retroreflector (CCR-optical sensor for communication). A sensor board was developed to control a thermally regulated fluorometer undergoing the Nuclei Acid Synthesis Based Amplification (NASBA) process, which detected the fluorescence from the solution containing target RNA. NASBA runs were conducted using solution containing K. brevis- Red tide organisms to validate the interface of the PDA with a fluorometer. Real time fluorescence plot over time was obtained on the PDA indicating presence/absence of the target RNA; thus, it successfully interfaced the PDA with the fluorometer. Additionally, a sensor board was developed to control the electrostatic actuation mechanism of the MEMS based CCR. Efforts were made to fabricate the vertical mirrors of CCR using wet and dry fabrication techniques.

Aplikace moderních funkčních bloků v harmonických oscilátorech / Application of modern active blocks in harmonic oscillators

Votýpka, František January 2010 (has links)
This work deals with using modern active functional blocks in electronic circuits. These blocks have better features than classical operational amplifiers and are characterized especially by working in current mode. Therefore these blocks can be used in higher frequencies. Using those blocks it is possible to design e.g. electronically variable-frequency filters of types low-pass filter, high-pass filter, band-pass filter, etc. Then it is also possible to easily realize electronically variable-frequency oscillators. This work is focused on some of these blocks, their basic characteristics and principles. Also three oscillators with current conveyors of second generation are designed. Its made simulation, sensitivity and tolerance analysis and magnitude stabilization. Everything is performed in OrCAD PSpice program. These made oscillators are electronic tunable in the band frequency ones of MHz.

Analýza, vlastnosti a aplikace komerčně dostupných proudových násobiček / Analysis, features and applications of available current mode multipliers

Miksl, Jan January 2011 (has links)
The diploma thesis deals with analysis, validation, measurement of parameters of the commercially available current multiplies (namely the EL2082 and EL4083) and their applications in practice. Control analysis are carried out in OrCAD PSpice program and compared with values from datasheets. Control analysis are focused on AC and DC characteristics of these active blocks. There are discusses the input impedance, the output impedance, the current gain and the possibility of electronic adjusting. The parameters of the elements were verified by measurements. Proposals for circuit applications (selective circuit, oscillator, frequency filter) with EL2082 and EL4083 are presented and analyzed in the program OrCAD. Three oscillator circuit designs are experimentally tested and the results are compared with the theoretical expectations and simulations in OrCAD. The possibility of electronic control for oscillators is examined. Also the sensitivity and the tolerance analysis are carried out. The constructional details of oscillators are presented at the end of this work.

Filterdesign och hårdvarukonstruktion för FMCW-radar

Eriksson, Oscar January 2007 (has links)

/
This bachelor thesis describes the design of an IF-filter and the hardware construction of a new version of a 77 GHz FMCW-radar demonstrator. The purpose of the demonstrator is to illustrate how the silicon germanium-, SiGe, technology could be used instead of the more conventional but also much more expensive gallium arsenide-, GaAs, technology. The old radar prototype that Acreo AB has developed is fully functional but needs to be redesigned to be able to evaluate the radar performance in a better way. The thesis presents the basic radar theory and equations to help understanding the construction of the system blocks. The report also describes the system architecture and how its functionality should be tested. The redesigned IF-filter has been simulated in a PSpice simulator and a prototype has been manufactured and measured. A 4-layer PCB-board of the whole system was done in Orcad Layout. Finally the report is concluded with suggestions on improvements for the next demonstrator version.

Diferenční kmitočtové filtry neceločíselného řádu / Fully-differential fractional frequency filters

Zapletal, Miroslav January 2017 (has links)
This diploma thesis is concentrated to fully differential and non-differential fractional-order filters with active elements. It describes how we can obtain fractional-order fully-differential filters design from non-differential design, thesis describes realization in OrCad program and simulation of this project. The first part of the thesis concerns theoretical analysis of frequency filters, active elements and fractional-order filters. The second part of the thesis includes designs of filters and simulations of differential structures and rest of non-differential structures simulation. The following part of the thesis concerns practical realization and experimental measurment of differential fractional-order filter. In the last part of this project, thesis evaluates all results which were revealed in our simulations and experimental measurment.

Využití přesného kapacitního mostu pro měření indukčnosti / Using of accurate capacitance bridge for inductance measurements

Uher, Miroslav January 2008 (has links)
This master’s thesis is dealing with possibilities of measurement of inductance by using of accurate capacitance bridge AH 2500E. In metrology there are no appropriate devices available for accurate measurement of inductance. It can be realized by four methods. The newest one is based on T elements, it is not used for this purpose yet and it is practically investigated in CMI Brno. For its introduction to practice it is neccessary to complete computer simulations and analysis of influences affecting measurement. It is also inevitable to examine repeatability of measurement, define methodology of measurement and potential corrections of measured values.
