Dimensões sociopolíticas de adaptação às mudanças climáticas na Guiné-Bissau / Socio-political dimensions of adaptation to climate change in Guinea-Bissau

Santy, Boaventura Rodrigues Vaz Horta 30 November 2016 (has links)
Prognostics of severe and extreme events related to climate change have been increasingly socially debated and supported the multilateral discussions and commitments in UNFCCC Conferences of the Parties (COPs). Subsequently, it has increased the number of countries that, on national level, dedicate themselves to the task of building public policies to cope with the predicted events, which are often considered to be already in course. In the multilateral discussions, inserted, but in a subordinate way, are the \"Least Developed Countries\", as denominated by the United Nations, so classified for having limited institutional capacity to diagnose and manage adverse conditions. Such countries have been granted with environmental support from different programs to assist in the preparation and implementation of the National Adaptation Programmes of Action (NAPA). This study has the objective of analysing the socio-political dimension of the construction of the National Adaptation Programme of Action of Guinea-Bissau. From a sociological perspective, it is discussed aspects of the operative logic, of socio-political character, which the Guinean state is built on and establishes its interactions, in one side, with the multilateral arena of COPs, and, on the other, with its own peoples when they experience the so-called \"natural\" disasters. From the foundations of the historical process that led to a socially excluding national state, this study makes a cross-scale analysis of three levels of power relations, namely: (a) one that considers the position of Guinea-Bissau when facing multilateral forces of economic and environmental development; (b) one that delimits the characteristic of the interaction between the national state and the NGOs and additional partners which assist in the planning/implementation of socioenvironmental policies; (c) the one in the local level, where the communities suffer the consequences and impositions from superior levels, by means of conflicts and alliances. This research has adopted three qualitative research methods: bibliographic research, documentary research, and field research.

Evaluation of Key Management Protocols and Their Implementations / Utvärdering av Key Management Protokoll och dess implementationer

Andersson, Erik, Combler, David January 2018 (has links)
When constructing a network system it is important to consider the attributes which define said system and how to best build around those attributes. In this report we’ve studied Key Management Protocols as well as 802.15.4 WPAN networks and how key managment is conducted in such networks. This was done to better understand how Key Management Protocols themselves work and if, or how, they differ when used in 802.15.4 networks. In this report we studied 4 different Key Management Protocols: IKEv2,HIPv2,PANA and 802.1X as well as their various implementations. Based on the information gathered we analyzed how an implementation would work according to IEEE 802.15.9. Firstly we found was that IKEv2 offers a lot of functionality at the cost of system complexity and required a lot of memory. It also required major modifications to work in 802.15.4 networks. Secondly we found that HIPv2 offers the ability to separate the locator and identifier tags of TCP/IP and is lightweight. It doesn’t use IP or TCP/UDP and as such required minor changes to work in 802.15.4 networks. Finally, PANA and 802.1X both offer client-to-network authentication using EAP and use a moderate to high amount of space. 802.1X required a moderate amount of changes to work in 802.15.4 networks. PANA on the other hand required few changes, though it should not be used as a general purpose Key Management Protocol in 802.15.4 networks.

Greffage irréversible de polyélectrolytes sur des substrats de silice et de mica et étude des propriétés de surface et de gonflement

Machado Romero, Vivian C. 12 1900 (has links)
A protocol for irreversibly grafting of amphiphilic copolymer polystyrene-b-poly (sodium acrylate) PS-b-PANa onto hydrophobized mica and silica was developed, using the grafting to approach. Surface properties of charge block were evaluated. The swelling of chains and force ionic effect were studied by ellipsometry. The interaction forces and frictional forces were evaluated by SFA technique. Forces profiles were stable and clearly repulsive in loading and receding, indicating an irreversible grafting. High friction forces onto PANa brushes were determinate without evidence of damage at the surface. The comparison between solution behavior of polyacrylic acid, PAA and PANa brushes, obtained via different grafting methods, was equally investigated.

Diplomatická jednání jako platforma pro prezentaci etických názorů v textu Yanzi chunqiu / Diplomatic missions as an opportunity for presentation of ethical views in the Yanzi chunqiu

Ringlová, Linda January 2012 (has links)
This thesis deals with diplomatic relations in the Chunqiu period or the Spring and Autumn period. It introduces characterization of process of diplomatic meeting, how they are described in the text of the Zhouli. As a main source it uses early chinese text of the Yanzi chunqiu - Annals of Mister Yan. It gives information about a personage of Yan Ying - a minister in the state of Qi in the 6th century BC, as well as about the text itself, including history, authenticity and other questions. It presents own translations of episodes concerning diplomatic relations. For a comparison it presents episodes from the text of Zuo Zhuan, in which we can find Yan Ying. Based on a summary of political situation of this period it resumes, how could episodes of diplomatic meetings correspond to reality of this period. As a result it summarize, how opinions claimed during diplomatic meetings could differ from other episodes.

Fikční světy románů Timothée de Fombella a jejich didaktické využití / Fictitious Worlds of Timothée de Fombelle's Novels And Their Use in Didactics

Dordová, Aneta January 2019 (has links)
This thesis deals with three novels written by a contemporary French writer of literature for children and young adults, Timothée de Fombelle: Toby Alone, Vango and The Book of Perle. The aim of this thesis is to define options of incorporation of these novels into literature lessons in higher grade classes of the elementary school. The thesis consists of a theoretical analysis of chosen aspects of the novels, description of subjective experience with reading the books, three excerpts from the novels, their didactic potential and model preparations for the lessons. The model lesson preparation includes the three-phase E-U-R learning model as well as the methods developing the ability of understanding and critical thinking (RWCT - Reading and Writing for Critical Thinking). Each model preparation is followed by a didactical commentary. Preparation of lesson with the excerpt from Tobiáš Lolness was implemented practically and consequently reflected by the teacher. The thesis also includes selected works from the students. As ascertained, the novels by Fombell show various mutual signs as well as the fact that they have a significant potential to engage attention of a young reader, since they provide topics interesting for this age group in accordance with the stage of their psychological development....

An Awkward Silence: Missing and Murdered Vulnerable Women and the Canadian Justice System

Pearce, Maryanne 05 November 2013 (has links)
The murders and suspicious disappearances of women across Canada over the past forty years have received considerable national attention in the past decade. The disappearances and murders of scores of women in British Columbia, Alberta and Manitoba have highlighted the vulnerability of women to extreme violence. Girls and women of Aboriginal ethnicity have been disproportionally affected in all of these cases and have high rates of violent victimization. The current socio-economic situation faced by Aboriginal women contributes to this. To provide publicly available data of missing and murdered women in Canada, a database was created containing details of 3,329 women, including 824 who are Aboriginal. There are key risk factors that increase the probability of experiencing lethal violence: street prostitution, addiction and insecure housing. The vast majority of sex workers who experience lethal violence are street prostitutes. The dissertation examines the legal status and forms of prostitution in Canada and internationally, as well as the individual and societal impacts of prostitution. A review of current research on violence and prostitution is presented. The thesis provides summaries from 150 serial homicide cases targeting prostitutes in Canada, the U.S., and the U.K. The trends and questions posed by these cases are identified. The cases of the missing women of Vancouver and Robert Pickton are detailed. The key findings from the provincial inquiry into the missing women cases and an analysis of the most egregious failings of the investigations (Projects Amelia and Evenhanded) are discussed. Frequently encountered challenges and common errors, as well as investigative opportunities and best practices of police, and other initiatives and recommendations aimed at non-police agencies are evaluated. The three other RCMP-led projects, KARE, DEVOTE and E-PANA, which are large, dedicated units focused on vulnerable women, are assessed. All Canadian women deserve to live free of violence. For women with vulnerable life histories, violence is a daily threat and a common occurrence. More must be done to prevent violence and to hold offenders responsible when violence has been done. This dissertation is a plea for resources and attention; to turn apathy into pragmatic, concrete action founded on solid evidence-based research.
