Silva, Rafael Hansen da January 2016 (has links)
One of the main challenges in Information-Centric Networking (ICN) is providing access control to content publication and retrieval. In spite of the potentialities, existing solutions often consider a single user acting as publisher. When dealing with multiple publishers, they may lead to a combinatorial explosion of cryptographic keys. Those solutions that focus on multiple publishers, on the other hand, rely on specific network architectures and/or changes to operate. In this dissertation, it is proposed a solution, supported by attribute-based encryption, for content access control. In this solution, the security model is focused on secure content distribution groups, in which any member user can publish to and retrieve from. Unlike previous work, the proposed solution keeps the number of cryptographic keys proportional to the number of group members, and may even be adopted gradually in any ICN architecture. The proposed solution is evaluated with respect to the overhead it imposes, number of required keys, and efficiency in the content dissemination. In contrast to existing solutions, it offers higher access control flexibility, without increasing key management process complexity and without causing significant network overhead.

Fabres, Paola Mayer January 2015 (has links)
This research is meant to provide a glimpse into the alternative periodicals production in the art field, which served as support and as media for many artists to transmit their poetry and speeches from the 1960s and 70s. Related to burst communication, the search for aesthetic liberties and socio-political demands, the editorial format in series spreads in national and international context, making possible exchanges and dialogues between different regions. The current research sought to highlight the Brazilian production of the 1970s, with the object of analysis Periodicals cartazetes Optic Nerve, of Porto Alegre, created by a group of city artists, among them Vera Chaves Barcellos, and handle magazine from Recife also collective production of artists and writers, that Paul Bruscky was the main proponent. The aim of this study, in addition to achieve a better understanding of these specific poetic and their connections, realize the importance of printed as a space for expression and as participatory practice of building of contemporary thought.

Validação da versão brasileira da Behavioral Pain Scale em pacientes sedados e em ventilação mecânica invasiva / Validation of the Brazilian version of Behavioral Pain Scale in sedated and mechanically ventilated patients

Santos, Isabela Azevedo Freire 05 February 2015 (has links)
Pain measurement in Intensive Care Units has received more notoriety just recently due to the need of developing new pharmacological methods and improving pain assessment in critically ill subjects. This assessment can be performed based on validated instruments as the Behavioral Pain Scale (BPS). The difficulty for patients using artificial airway to communicate and the absence of a Brazilian version of a scale for pain assessment in adults mechanically ventilated justifies the relevance of this study that aimed to validate the Brazilian version of BPS as well as to correlate the scores of this scale with the records of physiological parameters, sedation level and disease of this sample. This observational study was conducted in the cardiologic ICU at the Hospital de Cirurgia in Aracaju-Sergipe-Brazil from February to August 2014. Twenty five sedated or unconscious adult patients connected to an artificial airway who were using mechanical ventilation were included in this study. The Brazilian BPS version and the recording of heart rate, blood pressure and peripheral oxygen saturation were performed by two independent investigators simultaneously during three different moments: at rest, during eye cleaning (non-painful stimulus) and during tracheal aspiration (painful stimulus). Other variables as sedation level and severity of disease were recorded by using the Ramsay Scale, Richmond Agitation Sedation Scale (RASS) and APACHE II (Acute Physiology Health Chronic Evaluation) score respectively. The intake of sedative and analgesic medicines during patient assessment was also recorded. The analyzed sample was considered homogeneous despite of the type of surgery and postoperative time duration. It was evidenced high values of responsiveness coefficient (coefficient = 3.22), Cronbach alpha (internal consistency) (Cronbach α= 0.8 during both eye cleaning and tracheal suctioning) and Intraclass Correlation Coefficient (interrater reliability) (ICC= 0.8 during eye cleaning; ICC= 0.9 during tracheal suctioning). As to the validity, changes on BPS score in three assessment moments resulted in significant difference between rest and painful procedure, with the highest score values in this last one (p≤ 0.0001). However, correlations between pain and other variables (hemodynamic parameters, sedation level, and severity of disease) were not significant. Based on these results, the Brazilian BPS version was considered a valid instrument for ICUs in Brazil.

"Ambiente de tele-educação e iconografia didática" / Tele-education environment and didactic iconography

Ana Silvia Sartori Barraviera Seabra Ferreira 09 August 2005 (has links)
The paper evaluated the use of slogans and computational 3-D iconography for educational purposes. Three textual forms were applied (long topics; slogans; combination of the two previous forms), in order to evaluate the learning of third-year medical students about Sexually Transmitted Diseases. Ten multiple-choice questions were applied immediately after reading and 60 days after the first application. There was an increase in memorization in students who used the text with combination of the didactic material forms. Before, we demonstrated that the iconographies can condense high quantities of information and transmit them in a short time, utilizing the theme Hair Cycle for analysis. Slogans were inserted in the iconographies, presenting a new form of rapid transmission of information. These tools, when utilized in educational material, may provide benefits to the learning.

A Meta-Analysis of FDI Spillovers in China / A Meta-Analysis of FDI Spillovers in China

Herman, Dominik January 2017 (has links)
Assessment of the foreign direct investment (FDI) spillovers in the People's Republic of China (PRC) has become a lively area of research in the past decades; nonetheless, the existing primary literature seems to be inconclusive. The present thesis revises the literature through a meta-analytical approach using Bayesian Model Averaging (BMA). Considering that the previous liter- ature reviews are of either inferior quality or incomparable focus, our research is based on a collection of 1081 estimates from 14 primary studies published between 2007 and 2017 comprising data from 1995 to 2012. A variety of 85 characteristics of the observations is coded whilst we employ at least 30 of these within each BMA estimation. Through separate testing of individual spillover measures (horizontal, forward, and backward), an extensive evidence of publication bias is collected for horizontal spillovers in PRC-exaggerating the mean magnitude of the reported estimates. Finally, the thesis identifies that the spillover effect from FDI inflows originating from the area of Hong Kong, Macau, and Taiwan is systematically different from the others. Le Paradoxe de l'action furtive. / The paradox of furtive actions

Lapalu, Sophie 27 January 2017 (has links)
Throughout the XXth century and still today, artists of diverse horizons have claimed for ordinary acts done out in public spaces the status of artworks. Created amidst big city crowd, none of these acts, however, took place in the presence of a spectator. Due to artistic indiscernibility during their effectuation, we name them “furtive actions”. Considering the adjective “furtive” to qualify which seeks to “to escape the look, to go unnoticed”, how might such actions become artworks? Our task is to study this paradox, notably through the works of Vito Acconci, Adrian Piper, Jiří Kovanda or Francis Alÿs.We aim to apprehend the energy that led these artists to leave the sites traditionally dedicated to art in order to embrace the metropolitan crowds. We propose as hypothesis an “attitude of the modern”; the artist engages actively within the world and its elaboration. We then study the way furtive action becomes art work and the structure that takes shape, between dissimulation and revelation. These publications enable the furtive action to become art and to function as “screens” that indicate the past act and at the same time conceal it, orienting in reverse the perception by the spectator. Finally, we analyze reception of the furtive action become art work, wherein the time-lapse sets up a dialogic relationship and contributes to a transformation of the public. The art work thus asserts its value of exemplarity and invites the spectator toward action.

Impacts of Ethanol Policy on Corn Prices: A Meta-Analysis / Impacts of Ethanol Policy on Corn Prices: A Meta-Analysis

Horáček, Přemysl January 2017 (has links)
Deflecting a significant portion of corn production to ethanol for fuelling purposes increases the prices of corn. Although many studies examined the relationship between biofuels and agricultural commodity prices in the last decade, their estimates vary broadly (from nil to 85%). Without knowing the precise estimates of these impacts, policymakers can hardly set the biofuel policies optimally. I conduct a meta-analysis of over 150 estimates of the effect of corn ethanol production on corn prices to bring more clarity to the issue. Furthermore, I detect substantial selective reporting bias in the literature. After controlling for this bias with the use of various methods including the mixedeffects multilevel model, the results show that the true effect of a one billion gallon expansion in corn ethanol on corn prices is about 2-3%, which is less than commonly thought.

Sieberhagen, Charl Francois 18 January 2007 (has links)
English: The Naval Commissioner, Jaheel Brenton's passion and diligence regarding Bible distribution leads to the founding of the second Auxiliary of the British and Foreign Bible Society in Africa. This founding meeting takes place on 23 August 1820 under the chairmanship of the lieutenant-governor at the Cape, Sir Rufane Donkin. Only in 1965 does the Bible Society of South Africa become an independent Bible Society and became immediately a contributing Society towards the World Service Programme of the United Bible Societies. In 1970 the publication, God made it grow, appears, describing the history of the Bible Society of South Africa from 1820 to 1970. A comprehensive study of this has not hitherto been executed. Reports are published annually but are directed at the contributing donors of the Bible Society of South Africa with relevant information conveyed in the form of summaries. It is, however, remarkable that a missiological study has never been done on the activities of the Bible Society of South Africa. Considering the fact that the Bibles Society is the only organization in South Africa which officially translates, produces and distributes the Bible in all our indigenous languages, one must question the relevance of this organization's activities towards the development of missionary actions in South Africa and Southern Africa. Over the years the Bible Society's involvement regarding translation projects into the indigenous languages of our country has changed considerably. Nowadays, teams of translators are appointed in the service of the Bible Society. They do the translation on behalf of the Church, missionary organizations and the broader Christian community. The Bible Society of South Africa maintains a unique relationship with the Church, missionary organizations and with the broader Christian community and a wide spectrum of co-operation exists. The Bible Society is dependant on the churches, missionary organizations and the broader Christian community for human resources and financial support. Accordingly, churches, missionary organizations and the broader Christian community are dependant on the Bible Society for Bibles and other related material in the indigenous languages of our country. This study has indicated the presence of a missionary vision in the activities of the Bible Society of South Africa as well as their donors. Indeed this missionary vision has resulted in the establishment of Christianity in South Africa. This study clearly indicates that the Bible Society of South Africa is an integral part of the missionary playing-field in South Africa, also with regard to the future. / Thesis (PhD (Science of Religion and Missiology))--University of Pretoria, 2007. / Science of Religion and Missiology / unrestricted
