Personality, job satisfaction, and turnover intention of part-time employees: a study of coffee chains.

Wu, Shan-hua 16 June 2010 (has links)
The purpose of this study is to find the relationship among personality, job satisfaction, and turnover intention of part-time employees in coffee chains, and verifying the mediating effects of job satisfaction on the relationship between personality and turnover intention. It tested hypotheses through questionnaire. By the convenience sampling method, 131 returned questionnaires in total were regarded as valid (80.86% response rate). The findings have been summarized as the following: 1. Employees whose personality was more agreeable, more extraverted or less conscientious tended to have more turnover intention. 2. Employees with higher satisfaction at pay, promotions and supervision were prone to have lower turnover intention. 3. Employees with agreeableness personality had higher satisfaction at the work itself, coworkers and supervision. Employees with extraversion personality had lower satisfaction at promotions, coworkers and supervision. Employees with conscientiousness personality had higher satisfaction at pay and coworkers. 4. The satisfaction at supervision has partly mediating effects between agreeableness and turnover intention. The satisfaction at pay has partly mediating effects between conscientiousness and turnover intention. And the satisfaction at pay and supervision does act as a mediator between extraversion and turnover intention.

Arbetsmotivation och arbetstillfredsställelse hos deltidsanställda inom restaurangbranschen / Work motivation and job satisfaction among part-time employees in the restaurant industry

Radkvist, Moa January 2023 (has links)
The restaurant industry has high demands on its employees, with a high workload with a fast work pace even though the company lacks the opportunity to offer the employees attractive wages. Previous studies have determined various factors that, despite this, motivate the employees to remain in the industry. The purpose of this study is to investigate differences and similarities of the factors behind work motivation and job satisfaction in permanent employees compared to part-time employees in the restaurant industry. A quantitative method has been used for the data collection, where a questionnaire has been sent out to 52 respondents whose ages were between 18-28 years while 75% of them were women and 25% were men, of which 25 people were permanent employees and 27 were part-time employees. The results partially show a lack of significant differences as employees in both forms of employment value the opportunity to participate and decide, the opportunity for development, the variation in the work, the importance of appreciation and the importance of the salary equally. The study also did not show any significant difference between the two forms of employment regarding the generally perceived work motivation and job satisfaction. However, the groups differ significantly in their estimates regarding the experience of the social community, as well as the opportunity to actually participate and influence and to develop. The conclusion in this study was that the differences that were found between the forms of employment did not seem to have any impact on the perceived work motivation or job satisfaction when both groups were rated equally.

Studenters upplevelser av psykologiska kontrakt i sina extraarbeten

Pantina, Fiorentina, Larsson, Felicia January 2023 (has links)

A Determination of the Perceived Competencies Needed by Supervisors for the Supervision of Instruction Which Is Conducted by Part-Time Faculty in a Selected Community College District

Dixon, Nancy M. 12 1900 (has links)
The problem of this study was to determine the perceived competencies needed by supervisors in order to supervise instruction conducted by part-time instructors in a junior/community college setting. The study was conducted in three phases. The purpose of phase one of the study was to determine the areas of responsibility and tasks which are appropriately delegated to the supervisors of part-time instructors. To accomplish this purpose, areas of responsibility and tasks were drawn from job descriptions for the position of supervisor of part-time instructors in the Dallas County Community College District. The areas of responsibility and tasks were reworded by the investigator to serve as items in a questionnaire to which participants in the First National Conference on Part-time Instructors in the Community College were asked to respond. Means and standard deviations were determined for each group in relation to each competency statement for both importance and adequacy. All 134 competency statements listed in the questionnaire were rated by all groups as important. All but four of the competencies were rated by all groups as adequately performed by present supervisors. A list of seven competencies which were deemed very important (mean score of 4.50 or more) was presented.
