Examining the potential of the Creative Pedagogy of Play for supporting cultural identity development of immigrant children in Swedish preschools : A systematic literature review

Kabysh-Rybalka, Anna January 2018 (has links)
This study investigates the literature of the Creative Pedagogy of Play to examine the potential for this pedagogy to support cultural identity development of immigrant preschoolers in the Swedish context. Twelve articles were reviewed in order to characterize outcomes of the Creative Pedagogy of Play potentially relevant for this support. Identified outcomes included: recognizing and promoting children’s agency, co-creation of an imaginary world through diverse forms of expression, emotional involvement (“perezhivanie” as lived through experience), building peer relationships, valuing ambivalence, narrative teaching and narrative learning.  In this thesis, we argue that these outcomes of Creative Pedagogy of Play have the potential to create supportive conditions associated with the development of cultural identity (such as: social inclusion, respect for diversity, care, guidance and teaching offered by adults, recognizing children’s agency, and building relationships with friends and peers). The combination of these conditions creates a potential for the cultural identity formation through the Pedagogy of Play. Implications of this systematic review for early childhood education research and practice are discussed with particular focus on implications for engaging with questions of culture in preschool pedagogy.

Strategier för inkludering : - En intervjustudie om förskollärares strategier för barns inkludering i lek / Strategies for Inclusion : - An interview about the preschool teachers strategies for children's inclusion in play

Jansson Karlén, Therese January 2015 (has links)
I have conducted a study where I reviewed which strategies and play rules preschool teachers' uses in preschool to include children in play. To get answers to this I have been using previous research and literature that I consider to be relevant to my examination. It involves what play is and what conditions children need to master to be able to play and as well play theories and strategies to include children in play. The method I have used to answer my questions are qualitative interview and I have interviewed five active preschool teachers' working with chil-dren aged 1-6 years old. The results revealed that there are preschool teachers' responsibilities to include all the children in play and that there are preschool teachers' participation in play that promotes an inclusive environment. All children should be included in play, but not in all situations because children’s play must be respected.

The role of film in enhancing intern clinical psychologists’ understanding of borderline personality disorder / The role of film in enhancing the understanding of BPD

Nowack, Stephanie Katharina 11 1900 (has links)
Text in English / Psychologists-in-training are often presented with textbook definitions and descriptions of individuals presenting with psychopathologies. A major challenge for such texts is to effectively convey the relational issues and interpersonal dynamics of the mental disorders. The current study explores the role of film in enhancing intern clinical psychologists’ understanding of borderline personality disorder by specifically utilising the films Sylvia and Black Butterflies. A qualitative, phenomenological study was conducted with 15 clinical psychology interns at a tertiary psychiatric hospital in Gauteng, South Africa. The collected data consisted of responses to open-ended questionnaires and semi-structured interviews and was analysed according to an interpretive phenomenological analysis. Although the analysis was conducted inductively, the researcher also made deductive inferences from the data based on contemplations about the link between archetypes and images and learning and archetypal experiences. The importance of and connection to 21st-century learning skills, the creative learning spiral and a pedagogy of play were also taken into consideration while analysing the data. The findings of the current study suggest the ability of the two films to draw one in and to cause one to emotionally connect with the characters. Furthermore, films form an opportunity for trainees to practice psychodynamic formulations and not only focus on biological reductionisms of the disorder. / Psychology / M.A. (Psychology)
