Intermétalliques magnétiques praséodyme-cobaltnanostructurés : étude multiéchelle et optimisation / Intermetallic praseodymium-cobalt magnetic nanostructured : multiscale study and optimization

Fersi, Riadh 09 July 2012 (has links)
Nous avons utilisé différentes méthodes de caractérisation à savoir : la diffraction de rayon X (DRX), la microscopie électronique à transmission (MET) couplée avec l'analyse EDX,la Magnéto/susceptométre Manics DSM-8 / This work falls within the general framework of the structural and magnetic nanomaterials based magnetic rare earth (R) and transition metal (T) whose domain of application concerns the permanent magnets or magnetic recording high density. In search of new magnetic phases in performance characteristics, we were interested in the alloy Pr2Co7. This compound has interesting hard magnetic properties: high Curie temperature and uniaxial magnetocrystalline anisotropy important. From the perspective of magnetic exchange interactions Co-Co are the strongest, followed by R-Co interaction, while the RR interactions are very weak. The dominance of Co-Co interactions induces relatively high Curie temperatures in compounds Pr2Co7.The magnetocrystalline anisotropy results from the combination of two networks uniaxial anisotropy praseodymium and cobalt. To strengthen these interactions, it is necessary to partially substitute cobalt in compounds Pr2Co7 by an appropriate element such as iron which has a radius slightly larger than that of cobalt or by insertion of a light element the hydrogen and carbon that can increase the interatomic distances and enhance the magnetic moment. Moreover, along with intrinsic magnetic properties improves, it is necessary to optimize the extrinsic magnetic properties of the alloy by the search for a suitable nanocrystalline state corresponding to the potential applications. The extrinsic properties of compounds Pr2Co7 have been little studied.Several methods were used for the development of nanomaterials. In our study, we have W arranty the technique of high energy milling followed by recrystallization controlled synthesis method which until then had not yet been used to synthesize this type of compound. At this scale, the grain size becomes of the order of magnitude of the exchange length. This method which is a non-equilibrium synthesis process, allows the production of nanostructured powders metastable from a mixture of elemental powders. This technique is particularly effective in the case of alloys based on rare earth (Pr, Sm ...) that are extremely volatile. Indeed, it avoids the liquid state since the reaction takes place below the melting temperature and led to reproducible and large quantities of homogeneous alloys. We used different characterization methods, namely: the X-ray diffraction (XRD), transmission electron microscopy (TEM) coupled with EDX analysis, the magneto / susceptometer Manics DSM-8

Quantification of uncertainty in the magnetic characteristic of steel and permanent magnets and their effect on the performance of permanent magnet synchronous machine

Abhijit Sahu (5930828) 15 August 2019 (has links)
<div>The numerical calculation of the electromagnetic fields within electric machines is sensitive to the magnetic characteristic of steel. However, the magnetic characteristic of steel is uncertain due to fluctuations in alloy composition, possible contamination, and other manufacturing process variations including punching. Previous attempts to quantify magnetic uncertainty due to punching are based on parametric analytical models of <i>B-H</i> curves, where the uncertainty is reflected by model parameters. In this work, we set forth a data-driven approach for quantifying the uncertainty due to punching in <i>B-H</i> curves. In addition to the magnetic characteristics of steel lamination, the remanent flux density (<i>Br</i>) exhibited by the permanent magnets in a permanent magnet synchronous machine (PMSM) is also uncertain due to unpredictable variations in the manufacturing process. Previous studies consider the impact of uncertainties in <i>B-H</i> curves and <i>Br</i> of the permanent magnets on the average torque, cogging torque, torque ripple and losses of a PMSM. However, studies pertaining to the impact of these uncertainties on the combined machine/drive system of a PMSM is scarce in the literature. Hence, the objective of this work is to study the effect of <i>B-H</i> and <i>Br</i> uncertainties on the performance of a PMSM machine/drive system using a validated finite element simulator. </div><div>Our approach is as follows. First, we use principal component analysis to build a reduced-order stochastic model of <i>B-H</i> curves from a synthetic dataset containing <i>B-H</i> curves affected by punching. Second, we model the the uncertainty in <i>Br</i> and other uncertainties in <i>B-H</i> characteristics e.g., due to unknown state of the material composition and unavailability of accurate data in deep saturation region. Third, to overcome the computational limitations of the finite element simulator, we replace it with surrogate models based on Gaussian process regression. Fourth, we perform propagation studies to assess the effect of <i>B-H</i> and <i>Br</i> uncertainties on the average torque, torque ripple and the PMSM machine/drive system using the constructed surrogate models.</div>

Study and determination of lossers in permanent magnet couplings due to highly conductive walls.

Matsumoto, Thomas Rezek 21 January 2015 (has links)
The main objectives of this work are to study and to determine losses in permanent magnet couplings in the presence of a conductive barrier between its rotors. These losses are originated from eddy currents that circulate in the barrier and entail a resistive torque to the torque that is transmitted by the coupling and therefore, reduces the efficiency of its transmission. With this study, it was also intended to investigate such resistive effect influence in the coupling characteristic curve, i.e. in the torque versus angular shift between rotors curve. The determination of the conductive barrier influence on the magnetic coupling behavior is of major importance, since it allows the correct designing in applications as sealed pumps and magnetic stirrers. In order to determine the barrier influence, an analytical approach was used in order to calculate the losses generated by the eddy current circulation, which are induced in the conductive wall. As a result, it was possible to obtain the resistive torque as a function of the magnet coupling geometrical parameters and angular speed. The validation of the employed methodology will be made comparing the theoretical results with the experimental ones, obtained from tests in the existing prototype.

Analysis of wind turbines with permanent magnet generator in the power system.

Paez Prieto, Mauricio Andres 17 July 2014 (has links)
This master\'s project aims to study the behavior of wind turbines with Permanent Magnet Synchronous Generator, operating during contingencies and changes in wind speed. This configuration has many advantages compared with configurations currently used by leading manufacturers of large wind turbines. The main one is due to the fact of use smaller gearboxes or even gearless turbines. However, the impact on the electrical grid connection of this configuration should be minimized by improving the operating conditions at the connection point of the wind farm. Thus, this project aims to investigate ways to reduce the negative impacts and improve the system stability, especially at the grid connection point. This work employs the simulation software PSCAD for developing a computational model of this technology, considering the main components and controls. New control methods and additional features are included, for improving the reliability and the level of penetration of wind farms with permanent magnet generators in the power system. It is noteworthy that such models are not available in the simulation software PSCAD; therefore it was developed from existing generic models. All parts of the model were done with basic elements; as a result any engineer or researcher can program this same model in any software. This work begins with a brief description of the developed model, including: the aerodynamic model of the wind turbines, the control of the generator side converter, the control of the grid side converter and the protection system of the Link-DC. With this model, the operation of the permanent magnet synchronous generator was analyzed during network contingencies. The application of a sophisticated energy storage system for frequency support was also both developed and analyzed. The connection of wind turbines with Permanent Magnet Synchronous Generator has advantages when its potential for control and operation is used. More details can be checked in the following chapters.

Etude et optimisation de machines à aimant permanent à démarrage direct sur le réseau / Study and optimization of line-start Permanent Magnet Motors

Ding, Tingting 08 April 2011 (has links)
Un prototype à échelle réduite a été dimensionné, réalisé et testé au laboratoire ; il confirme les principes de base de ce type de machines / In the context of reducing emissions of greenhouse effect, and of energy cost, the competition to improve the performances of the equipments affects all the domains. The consumption of electricity is mostly due to the electric motors, and particularly induction machines, used in various devices such as pumps, fans or compressors. These machines are characterized by relatively low efficiencies, and their replacement by more efficient machines should lead to a significant power saving. The Line-Start Permanent Magnet motors are good candidates to achieve this purpose. They have higher efficiencies and the additional devices for self-start eliminates the need of static converters, as it is normally required for conventional permanent magnet motors. Specific constraints arise for the use and the design of these machines: the starting current should not be so high to avoid the risk of the demagnetization of magnets and the starting torque must be large enough to ensure the start under load. Moreover, the efficiency and power factor at full load must be sufficiently higher than those of asynchronous machines in order to make them more competitive. In this thesis, we study three rotor structures to meet a given specification. These three structures use magnets inserted on the surface, embedded in a solid rotor or a cage rotor. They have their advantages and drawbacks that we have shown by a comparative study in some detail. This comparative study could not be implemented without the development of models in both static and dynamic conditions of these machines and a specific design methodology. A small scale of prototype has been designed, built and tested in the laboratory; it confirms the basic principles of such machines

Modélisation analytique pour le dimensionnement par optimisation d’une machine dédiée à une chaîne de traction hybride à dominante électrique / Analytical modelling and design optimisation of an electric machine for a mild hybrid electric vehicle

Daguse, Benjamin 17 June 2013 (has links)
The work presented in this thesis aims at the modelling and optimisation of electrical machine for an automotive application. The first part shows the constraints required to electric/hybrid automotive specifications. A clustering method which allows to reduce evaluations number of the operating points is described. Next, an optimal pre-sizing of the machine is presented and designed in order to respect this optimal pre-sizing.In what follows an accurate and fast analytical electromagnetic modelling of the machine is performed. Well, the analytical modelling developed is related to a genetic algorithm. Two solutions of permanent magnet synchronous machines (PMSM) designed to automotive application are finally showed and analysed.

Fabrication processes by chemical routes of textured Barium ferrite compacts for non reciprocal microwave devices / Méthodes de fabrication par voie chimique de ferrite de barium texturé pour dispositifs microondes non réciproques

Le, Cong Nha 11 July 2018 (has links)
Presently, there is a critical need for millimeter wave devices, among which are non-reciprocal devices such as isolators and circulators, which operate in the frequency range from about 30 GHz to 100 GHz.Permanent magnets that ensure the propagation of the wave in such devices are for long based on rare-earth elements. Nowadays, the escalation of rare earths cost encourages to look for alternative materials containing much less, or no, rare earth elements selected from the most common and most available. Alternatively, hard ferrites may show the required potential for integration into non-reciprocal microwave devices. Barium ferrite (BaM) is a wellknown, high-performance, permanent magnet material with a large magneto-crystalline anisotropy along the c-axis of its hexagonal structure. A suitable form of barium ferrite for mm-wave applications is a magnetically oriented bulk material.Several constraining processing techniques were therefore set up to perform the alignment and compaction of plate hexaferrite particles. In contrast to these methods, the present study demonstrates the feasibility of simple alternative ways to provide highly oriented bulk compacts made of BaM particles. In the present work efficient and inexpensive chemical processes (co-precipitation, dry mixing and wet mixing) are presented that produces highly oriented bulk compacts made of Barium hexaferrites (BaM) particles. Hysteresis loops that display very competitive squarenesses between 0.87 and 0.90 (normalized remanent magnetization) and coercivity as high as 303 kA/m are obtained. The sensitivity to demagnetizing effects is therfore reduced. These properties make these BaM bulk ferrite materials suitable for selfbiased applications at frequencies up to 55 GHz.

Application of H-infinity controllers in a nonlinear model of electromagnetic active suspension.

Falleiros, Murilo Fregonesi 13 June 2018 (has links)
This work presents the application of the H-infinity robust control theory into a non-linear model of active suspension system with a Tubular Permanent Magnet Actuator (TPMA). The main objectives in the application of the active suspension systems are the achievement of greater levels of comfort to the user and of road holding for the vehicle, when compared to the passive and semi-active suspension systems, besides the maintenance of suspension displacement limits. Initially are presented the active suspension models of a quarter-car and of a full-car, used respectively as a plant for the design of the H-infinity controllers and as a model for the simulations of the closed loop suspension systems. In the sequel, the controllers are developed, based on properly defined specifications, for further evaluation and comparison among the systems designed. Robustness verications of the active suspension systems, using the µ-Analysis as assessment tool, are performed together with the performance analysis of each system. The performance evaluation of the systems is performed both in the time domain (assessing angles, speeds, accelerations, dections and the energy of the system) and in the frequency domain (through the analysis of Power Spectral Density (PSD) of vertical accelerations of the vehicle and the control efort of the actuator). The excitation of the system is carried out by means of disturbances imposed to the vertical wheel\'s positions. Those disturbances are of deterministic and stochastic types, which are representatives of real working conditions of the vehicle. The set of controllers developed in this work presents satisfactory results for both deterministic and stochastic input disturbances, with performance gains of the active suspension systems in relation to the passive system of reference up to 34; 92%, 17; 23%, 43; 48% and 30; 10% respectively to the assessment metrics of user comfort, handling maintenance and acceleration of the pitch and roll angles of the chassis.
