January 2005 (has links)
Abstract: The soil use in the high course on the watershed of Claro River has been considerably modified since the 1970-decade with the usage of the Latosoil and the plane and gentle-undulated relief waved by the mechanized agriculture of grains. In order to understand the dynamics of the watershed occupation and its effects on the quality and quantity in Claro River water data of soil usage was processed from 1963/67 and 2001, as well as, physical-environmental data through geoprocessing instruments. Also, pluviosity data, flow and hidric balance were utilized to verify the hidric conduct of Claro River and analysis of some parameters for determining its water quality. The predominant classes of land use capability were the III and IV kind, with 48,35% and 34,5% respectively. The main conflict of use identified was the usage of very susceptible erosion areas with cattle activity. The flow conduct shows brief decrease in the monthly and daily volumes. When it comes to water quality, coliformes and turbidity are facts with the deepest concern. Political, governmental and society effective actions are urgent to seek the alternatives of territorial use which are not disagreeing with the supportive capacity of the environment and are at the same time societal and economic practicable. / Orientador: Archimedes Perez Filho / Coorientador: Iraci Scopel / Banca: Miguel Cezar Sanchez / Banca: Gilberto José Garcia / Banca: Carlos Roberto Espindola / Banca: Salvador Carpi Junior / Doutor

Simulação de demandas de recursos hídricos utilizando o método de simulação MIKE BASIN, no trecho do reservatório de Ibitinga no rio Tietê e seus afluentes / Simulation of water resources demand using geographical information system model and simulation MIKE BASIN in the excerpt from the reservoir in the Tietê river Ibitinga and its tributaries

Dalmo, Francisco César 17 August 2009 (has links)
This research project examined the data and raised the demands for various uses in sub-basins of which Jacaré-Guaçu, Jacaré-Pepira and Claro river that are part of UGRHI 13 (watershed Tietê-Jacaré) and reaching the average sentence Tietê river, the reservoir of the hydroelectric plant Ibitinga. The objective of this research was to provide results based on scientific technical criteria to help in the right to use water as subsidizing the watershed committee of the component to the study region in determining the flow of grant requested. The data demands of the public supply, livestock, irrigation, industrial, dilution of domestic sewage and industrial sewage dilution, and the demand for energy generation of HPP Ibitinga, subsidized the entry of data in the computer simulation program, MIKE BASIN. MIKE BASIN program is available at the Center for Hydrometers the Center for Water Resources and Applied Ecology, School of Engineering of São Carlos, University of São Paulo, and is composed of a geographic information system, a simulation model capable of quantitatively integrate optimization techniques, and a georeferenced database. With the software MIKE BASIN was possible to identify the available water to meet various uses of water resources in the face of growing demands and the different hydrological conditions, thus defining a plan for the different users of water, minimizing conflicts between the multiple uses of and quantifying the degree of compromise between them. Finally, the results were presented through graphs, tables that can support the committee of basin, assisting in the planning process and management of the uses of water resources for various future scenarios.

Strategic management practices : an investigation of public sector organizations in the Kingdom of Bahrain

Abushabab, Wajdi January 2016 (has links)
Over more than three decades, there has been a sustained interest in strategic planning in the public sector to secure positive outcomes and long-term growth. However, several authors argued that strategic planning is limited, costly, time consuming and not producing the needed outcomes. Previous research has focused almost upon developed, and not on developing countries, for instance, the Kingdom of Bahrain. This gap in the knowledge provides the justification for this research. Using survey method, this research aims to explore strategic management practices in the public sector of Bahrain. Using both interviews and questionnaires as the mixed methods was more convincing and produced more comprehensive findings and hence stronger credibility. The findings reveal that the strategic management process was not effective in the researched organizations in the strategic formulation stage, the strategic implementation stage, and the strategic evaluation stage. The findings also reveal that there is a low satisfaction level with strategic management process within most of the organizations surveyed. Moreover, the findings revealed that the progress in the transition from strategic planning to a strategic management approach was limited. However, some of the organizations were found to be at the start of such a transition and this may be a good sign. Additionally, the findings reported many leading edge elements that are closely related to this transition, and help to successfully implement organizational objectives. Finally, the present research is proposing a strategic management model to increase the ability to formulate, implement and evaluate better future governmental strategic plans.

Guma, Juliana Lamana January 2016 (has links)
The promulgation of the Constitution in 1988 and the Statute of the City in 2001 gave new meanings to Brazilian Urban Policy, legally making the municipal Master Plan the basic instrument of the policy of expansion and urban development of cities. Thus, in addition to cities with over 20,000 inhabitants, also those with smaller population but belonging to urban agglomerations, metropolitan regions, areas of tourist and environmental interest or large enterprises now need to prepare their master plans. Whereas the Brazilian urban network has more than 70% of its cities with up to 20,000 inhabitants, this paper discusses the Urban Planning and Management in these urban centers. The developed case study presents the cities of Benedito Novo and Rio dos Cedros, located on Médio Vale do Itajaí, State of Santa Catarina. From the analysis of the urban network in which they are inserted, the drafting and review of its master plans, as well as the laws of such content we sought to understand whether the recognition of these small urban centers by federal public policies, specifically the City Statute, assists in local urban development.

Application Of Strategic Planning Methodology To Republic Of Turkey Ministry Of Finance

Ozahci, Erhan 01 June 2007 (has links) (PDF)
In this study, it is aimed to determine and implement a process based strategic planning methodology for Turkish Ministry of Finance. Proposed methodology has been implemented in Ministry of Finance by a T&Uuml / BiTAK supported strategic management project in collaboration with Ministry of Finance Strategy Development Unit (MoF_SDU), T&Uuml / SSiDE and a private Consultancy Company. This project was a direct consequence of reforms on Public Financial Management and stipulated by the Laws No. 5018 and 5436 which have been prepared based on efficiency in public service delivery. Proposed methodology is different from other strategic planning methodologies for public and non-profit organizations because it uses a combination of numerous techniques that are previously developed for strategic planning. Examples are mentoring, e- learning, idea tray method, and process modelling. Firstly, strategic planning methodology is determined with close inspection of international approaches and best practices. Ministry of Finance&rsquo / s organizational chart is redesigned to enable more effective and efficient operation. Ministry of Finance is divided to 14 strategic business units (SBUs). For every SBU, detailed environmental analyses are conducted and critical issues are derived. Mission and strategic vision statements are clearly determined and core processes are modelled and standardized. Strategic goals and detailed objectives are formulated. Finally, performance indicators are determined for every objective for evaluation and continuous improvement. At the end of the implementation, 2008-2012 strategic plan for Ministry of Finance is prepared and numerous organizational improvements are observed.

Financial Strategic Planning And Knowledge Management : A Comparative Case Study On Turkish Banking Sector

Durtas Baspinar, Pelin Canan 01 October 2012 (has links) (PDF)
ABSTRACT FINANCIAL STRATEGIC PLANNING AND KNOWLEDGE MANAGEMENT: A COMPARATIVE CASE STUDY ON TURKISH BANKING SECTOR DURTAS BASPINAR, Canan Pelin M.Sc., Science and Technology Policy Studies Supervisor: Dr. Nusret G&uuml / &ccedil / l&uuml / September 2012, 103 pages It is not easy to set up a knowledge management system (KMS) in banking due to the size of large services, the variety of products, dealing with large information, serving under high cost pressure and highly competitive market conditions. This thesis proposes that strategic management is a knowledge processing outcome, and should be an integral part of the financial strategic planning (FSP), which is essential in the agility of financial organizations.. This thesis will explore a FSP model that is developed by merging and integrating the two models &ldquo / The new knowledge management&rdquo / (Firestone &amp / McElroy, 2003) and &ldquo / APQC Process Classification Framework&rdquo / (APQC, 2011). In light of the merged models a measurable indicator set is defined based on the literature and the researcher&rsquo / s personal experience. To validate the thesis, two case studies have been carried out by using qualitative and a participatory approach in one foreign owned and one jointly controlled bank in Turkey in order to validate the model. Since the case studies consist of specific information on the studied banks, the details are presented separately in a technical paper. The main findings of the case studies show that two different knowledge management (KM) approaches &ldquo / The new knowledge management&rdquo / and &ldquo / APQC Process Classification Framework&rdquo / can be combined in a unified model which can be used to increase agility in turbulent economic environments.
