Chiffres des nombres premiers et d'autres suites remarquables / Digits of prime numbers and other remarkable sequences

Swaenepoel, Cathy 07 June 2019 (has links)
In this work, we study the distribution of prime numbers' digits. Bourgain (2015) obtained an asymptotic formula for the number of prime numbers with a proportion $c > 0$ of preassigned digits in base 2 ($c$ is an absolute constant not specified). We generalize this result in any base $g \geq 2$ and we provide explicit admissible values for the proportion $c$ depending on $g$.By adapting, developing and refining Bourgain's strategy in the case $g=2$, we present a detailed proof for the general case. The proof is based onthe circle method and combines techniques from harmonic analysis together with results onzeros of Dirichlet $L$-functions, notably a very sharp zero-free region due to Iwaniec. This work also falls within the study of prime numbers in sparse ``sets''.In addition, we study the distribution of the ``digits'' (in the sense of Dartyge and S\'ark\"ozy) of some sequences of interest in the context of finite fields. This concept of ``digits'' is fundamental in the representation of finite fields in computer algebra systems. We study various sequences such as polynomial sequences, generators as well as products of elements of two large enough sets. Our methods provide very sharp explicit estimates which are even optimal in some cases.Exponential sums over finite fields play an essential role in the proofs. Our results can be reformulated from a more algebraic point of view with the trace function which is of basic importance in the study of finite fields.

The factoring of large integers by the novel Castell-Fact-Algorithm, 12th part

Tietken, Tom, Castell-Castell, Nikolaus 12 August 2020 (has links)
The Prague Research Institute owns an self-developed algorithm (so-called 'Castell-fact-algorithm'), which is able to factorize unlimited large integers in an elegant and fast way. Because the experts are ignoring our information about it or even contradicting this fact (saying, 'it is not possible'), we hereby file subsequently another fast-developed, small algorithm as a 'teaser' (the so-called 'Tietken-Castell-Prime-Algorithm'), which can demonstrate the simple, efficient and creative operating principles of the Prague Research Institute. We call this Tietken-Castell-Prime-Algorithm 'creative', because it does not really create and identify prime numbers (at this assignment we are still working), but reach the same effect by a simple indirect procedure: With the assistence of a self-constructing and accumulating register (the so-called 'Tietken-Castell-register') prime numbers can also be a) created as well as b) identified and even big numbers, as far as they are already registered can practically be 'factorized' by reading out their prime-factors inside the register.

No. of bitstreams: 1 Rubens Vilhena Fonseca.pdf: 1601945 bytes, checksum: 9bd5a69dcacb920b758afcd188c86010 (MD5) Previous issue date: 2015-04-22 / This work aims to analyze a didactic sequence directly linked to the research question, which sought to provide students an investigative route in order to find solutions to the problems raised, which are in the field of number theory, and are related to prime numbers and Fundamental Theorem of Arithmetic, objects of this research, developed with students of the degree course in mathematics of the Pará State University. There were theoretical studies and a literature review for the formulation of the research question and identification of conceptual tools for analyzing protocols. Six questions were applied to ten students, involving prime numbers and the fundamental theorem of arithmetic. Based primarily on studies that considered the number representations and their transparent or opaque characteristics, in a qualitative study, the answers given by the students were analyzed. Preliminary studies allowed the development of a problematic around the following research question: What knowledge and difficulties about the concepts / properties of prime numbers and the fundamental theorem of arithmetic are evidenced by undergraduate students in Mathematics of the Pará State University when subjected to a didactic sequence that intended to involve them in investigative routes formatted from theoretical assumptions related to numerical representations and their transparent / opaque features? The work is justified by the scarcity of research related to number theory in mathematics education in Brazil.

The aims of this work is teachers working in the final grades of elementary school. It aspires to show that it is possible to introduce the study of Modular congruence this educational segment, seeking to facilitate the resolution of numerous problem situations. The motivation for choosing this theme is that there is the possibility to make it simpler to solve many problems worked at this stage of education and are even requested for admittance exams to military schools and mathematical Olympiads for that level of education. We begin with a brief summary about integer numbers, their basic operations, also recalling the concept of prime numbers, where the sieve of Eratosthenes is presented; the lcm (least common multiple) and the gcd (greatest common divisor), along with the Euclidean algorithm. We present some examples of problem situations and solved exercises involving debris left by a division and then, we give the definition of modular congruence . Finally , we present suggestions for exercises to be worked in the classroom, with a short resolution.
