Padronização de processos produtivos e melhoria contínua como fatores de aumento da produtividade na construção. / Standardization of production procedures and continuous improvement as factors of productivity increase in the construction industry.

Zanotti, Nero Lenotti 28 June 2018 (has links)
Civil Construction industry is known as one of the less productive compared to other industries. Among many factors for such low productivity, the management is pointed as the major one. As an alternative to enhance labor productivity in the construction industry, two topics were researched: standardization of production procedures and continuous improvement. The objective of this research is: describe the process of execution of these two topics in an infrastructure construction project, to evidence the vantages of its application, propose a useful methodology to integrate the standardize production procedures and the continuous improvement, and at last, consolidate the both researched topics. The methodology to fulfill these objectives was a literature review about Lean Construction, which is the foundation to the application of the two concepts, continuous improvement, labor productivity, standardization of production procedures and an action research, that the author had an actively participation. During the research, it was developed a form to capture the improvements made by the production teams called Kaizen and operational procedures to standardize production processes. The impact of this tools´ application was measured at the labor productivity rate in different pipeline production teams. As a result, there was an increase of productivity in all teams, a decrease in the production variability and the decrease of production time interruptions. At the end, it is made a proposition of useful integration of the concepts researched.

Standardization in a High Mix Low Volume Company : A Case Study

Amaresh, Amaresh, Oooramvely, Kuriachen January 2020 (has links)
The market has been evolving from mass production towards mass customization, which has increased the complexity level for the companies. Unlike in mass production companies where the tasks are routine and standardized, the mass customization types of companies have a varied work demand which makes the work environment complex. These types of mass customization companies are known as High Mix Low Volume type of companies basically because of their characteristics of having a high mix in products and comparatively low volume production.  This thesis research was done with DEWTON INDUSTRIES, Kochi in India. Although product variety and complexity has been answered using technology development and modularization in the previous studies, there has been less focus given to reducing the complexity from the production process point of view. It is also evident that there is limited literature and research done regarding the standardization in High Mix Low Volume type companies both in the academia and in the industry. Hence, understanding the problems regarding standardization in a High Mix Low Volume company and how to handle them has been of a major importance at this point of time. The purpose of the research is to see how standardization can be increased in HMLV companies. The research approach used here was the case study to collect the necessary data to achieve the results. The data collection techniques used were interviews, observations and literature review, which gave the guidelines and suggested solutions to the identified problems related to standardization in High Mix Low Volume company in the production department.  The findings from the research suggest that standardization in HMLV production is very important for the companies in their current market demands. This is because standardization has a major effect on the quality of end products, production lead time, working standards of employees in the production department and design department. Various problems can occur, and only standardized procedures can solve these problems. It has been well exemplified in this thesis work, how these standardized procedures can increase the quality of the products, increase production speed, and also profit for the company. This research paper can be used as a guideline by other HMLV companies, while they plan to implement standardization in the production department. To the best of our knowledge this research was one of a kind in this particular field of study and also provides a base for in-depth research on each identified problem.

Application of lean manufacturing in a peruvian clothing company to reduce the amount of non-conforming products

Cuellar-Valer, Stephanie, Gongora-Vilca, Angie, Altamirano-Flores, Ernesto, Aderhold, Daniel 01 January 2021 (has links)
This article describes how Lean Manufacturing tools were applied in a Peruvian textile company. A production management model is proposed whose goal is to reduce the number of non-conforming products in the pants manufacturing line. For this, all information was gathered from the production area of the company under study. With the use of quality tools, the diagnosis of the current situation of the pants line was made, identifying the most significant defects, which were 19.43% of produced units in 2018. It was determined that the main causes of the observed defects refer to non-standardized sewing processes, quality control errors, non-standardized cutting processes, and poor production planning. The application of VSM and SMED allowed the correct standardization of denim pants production, TQM allowed proper control and quality management of the production process, and JIT for optimal production planning.

Digging into Dirty Laundry: e-Standardization of Legal Services Procurement

Álvarez Carranza, Ricardo January 2011 (has links)
The purpose of this thesis is to propose a standardization model for the purchase process of legal professional services leveraging e-Procurement and to validate the benefits brought by the implementation of both, an e-Procurement tool and a new procurement process. The hypotheses of this thesis are applicable to the procurement of legal professional services of large companies with a central legal department in charge of managing the relations with different legal firms (legal services suppliers). The information presented was gathered in a large global manufacturing company with strong presence in Europe. The procurement of legal professional services throughout the entire organization was analyzed and validated by central legal department based in the headquarters. An innovative model for the procurement of the legal services has been proposed based on different findings in the current literature. Also, a model developed by Ronchi et al. was leveraged to quantitatively measure the benefits brought by the implementation of e-Procurement. The model was implemented in the organization with the help of central purchasing and legal departments. The results showed it is possible to standardize the operative procurement of legal professional services for end-users to perceive the same process as the one used for direct purchases of office supplies. In order to accomplish this, some roles and an important transformation within the organization must be carried out. A general model to implement a comprehensive procurement process leveraging e-Procurement is presented in this study. The conclusions are that the specialized procurement literature focuses very little on service procurement standardization and even less in legal professional services or process standardization through e-Procurement, and thus this study and the model introduced might work as a starting point for professional practitioners or academic researchers alike. Further research topics are suggested at the end of this study to continue research on this topic.
