Key Elements of Software Product Integration Processes

Larsson, Stig January 2007 (has links)
The product integration is a particularly critical phase of the software product development process as many problems originating from earlier phases become visible in this phase. Problems in product integration result in delays and rework. One of the measures to decrease the late discovery of problems is the use of development standards and guidelines that define practices to ensure correctness of the product integration. However, even if such standards and reference models exist, they are in not used consistently. One of the reasons is a lack of a proof that they indeed improve the integration process, and even more important, that they are sufficient for performing efficient and correct product integration. The conclusion of the presented research is that the available descriptions in standards and reference models taken one by one are insufficient and must be consolidated to help development organizations improve the product integration process. The research has resulted in a proposed combination of the activities included in the different reference models. This combination has been based on a number of case studies. Through the case studies performed in seven different product development organizations, a relationship between problems that are observed and the failure to follow the recommendations in reference models is identified. The analysis has indicated which practices are necessary, and how other practices support these. The goal with the research is to provide product development organizations with guidelines for how to perform software product integration. One additional finding of the research is the existence of relation between software architecture and the development process. A method for identifying dependencies between evolvement of software architectures and adaptation of integration practices has been demonstrated.

Product Placement during the Family-Viewing Hour.

Arnold, Harry C. 15 August 2006 (has links) (PDF)
The so-called family-viewing hour, the eight to nine o’clock hour of prime time, is one of the most watched hours of television by both adults and children. Advertisers, of course, favor shows that draw large audiences so their product presentations or commercials are witnessed by masses of people. Now, because of videocassette recorders and other similar control devices, viewers are eliminating commercials from their viewing experience1 and advertisers are clamoring for new ways to get their products into the mind of the consumer.2 To counteract this commercial avoidance by consumers, advertisers are embedding products within television programming thereby hindering the viewer’s ability to eliminate commercials or product promotions. The result is that products that are normally not viewed become part of the viewing experience. This study revealed that the family-viewing hour is laden with product placements that include a variety of different types of products and brands.

Método de mapeamento de tecnologia considerando a estratégia technology push e adoção de parcerias / Method of mapping technology considering the technology push strategy and adoption of partnerships

Souza, Mauro Caetano de 10 June 2010 (has links)
The literature about technology roadmapping method presents a focus to enterprises, which has it innovation process oriented to the market and product predetermined, using the market pull strategy to technology-product integration. Supplier integration into product development : an inter-organizational and product integration perspective / Intégration des fournisseurs dans le développement de produits : une perspective sur l’intégration inter-organisationnelle et sur l’intégration de produits

Donmez, Mehmet 02 September 2015 (has links)
This thesis explores the role of inter-organizational integration and product integration as two constituent dimensions of supplier integration into product development with three essays. The first essay is a systematic review of literature on supplier integration. It identifies product integration as a dimension that is scarcely incorporated in the conceptualization of supplier integration. In order to fill the gaps identified in the literature review, we build a conceptual model that incorporates concepts from Information Processing Theory and Modularity Theory. The second essay investigates this conceptual model with an embedded case study in a defense company. This essay shows that the governance of the relationship between a buyer and a supplier is related to an understudied concept in the product design literature, namely product interfaces. The third essay is a theoretical development of product interfaces as an element that determines product and organization design. This essay defines micro-foundational interface properties theoretically and provides examples from the telecommunications, automotive and aircraft industries as supportive evidence. Overall, this thesis points out the importance of product interfaces as elements that can increase information processing requirements of supplier integration into product development.

A Software Development Framework for Complete Battery Characterization: Testing, Modelling & Parameterization

Dlyma, Rioch January 2020 (has links)
Advancements in batteries, microprocessors as well as an extra emphasis being put on the environment has pushed electric vehicles to the forefront of today. Despite the many benefits of electric vehicles, range anxiety and long charge times are hurdles to overcome. These shortfalls are a result of the current battery technology regardless of the many breakthroughs over the last decade. Lithium-ion Batteries and other modern chemistries pose a number of challenges in testing and research when compared to the traditional lead acid batteries. Current test systems fall short in providing a complete testing solution with. The focus of this thesis is to develop a complete software framework for battery characterization: testing, modelling and characterization to accompany battery testing hardware developed by D&V Electronics. The first step in battery characterization, involves battery testing in order to obtain data. This required development of the test software and a number of battery tests, including: Charge and discharge, state of charge vs. open circuit voltage curve generation, Electro-Impedance Spectroscopy, and capacity test. Research was done in order to ensure developed test procedures lined up with that of other publications. All data from the testing data is logged to a central database, allowing for the second major development, the model framework. The model framework is composed of seven different battery models that can be parameterized with the touch of a button, using data collected from the tester. It is a software framework that is meant to be expandable by abstracting the details of a model from the tester. This allows for new models and parameterization techniques to be integrated into the software without the need of new software development. Lastly, all development was used to do a battery characterization of a prismatic battery cell. All tests were conducted on a battery over two hundred cycles, followed by battery parameterization using the mode framework. The battery models were then used to simulate a US06 drive profile and compared to the same profile with measurements taken from the tester. With an average root mean square error of 8 millivolts, the battery characterization using the framework proved to be a success. / Thesis / Master of Applied Science (MASc)

Development of a Highly Flexible Geometry Station for Versatile Production Systems in Automotive Body Construction : A Station designed for Joining of Body-in-White Assemblies duringan Integration of Electric Vehicles / Framtagning av en högflexibel geometristation för mångsidiga produktionssyteminom fordonsindustrin

Knutsson, Erik January 2018 (has links)
The research in this report seeks to develop a highly flexible geometry station for joining futureBody-in-White (BiW) assemblies. The goal is to eliminate the need for a complete reconstructionof a production line during integration of new car bodies in a contemporary production.Today's BiW production is performed in sequential lines, where joining equipment is arranged ina specific order for each model geometry. An increasing model portfolio forces manufacturers todevelop production systems that allow an integration of new models. Electrified alternatives ofexisting models are now developed and put into production. These models have similarappearance as conventional models, but with a completely different principle of driveline due tothe propulsion. This means that new interfaces and platforms have to be developed and mustnow be integrated into a current production. Today's production lines are not prepared forcoming changes, and current stations can only handle a limited number of variants. Integration ofnew geometries into a contemporary production line is not sufficiently efficient from aproduction perspective. The goal of the future is to make such an integration possible.Initially, current and future production scenarios were studied. Based on this, four types ofproduction scenarios, which a highly flexible geometry station can be integrated into, were set up.An integration can take place in different ways depending on how a highly flexible geometrystation is compounded, therefore, different cases were created and compared in a case study.Internal and external benchmarking of production systems were made to compare the availablesolutions for increasing stations flexibility in a BiW production. As reference for the project, a concept for a highly flexible geometry station has been developedand is therefore described initially before an additional depth has been realized. The furtherconceptualization of a highly flexible geometry in this report is presented in the form of amorphological composition of technologies that can increase a station's flexibility, as well asvisualization of a station principles through layouts and cycle time charts. The result of theanalysis generated several concepts that hold different degrees of capacity, footprint andflexibility. The focus was to achieve a high level of flexibility for integration of new models, withnew geometries, in a current production. The conclusion was that the highly flexible geometrystation can, in a contemporary production, produce independently in low volumes. Alternatively, produce higher volumes when it is integrated as a complement in a novel, not yet implemented, production concept.

Méthodes d'intégration produit pour les équations de Fredholm de deuxième espèce : cas linéaire et non linéaire / Product integration methods for Fredholm integral equations of the second kind : linear case and nonlinear case

Kaboul, Hanane 20 June 2016 (has links)
The product integration method has been proposed for solving singular linear Fredholm equations of the second kind whose exact solution is smooth, at least continuous. In this work, we adapt this method to the case where the solution is only integrable. We also study the nonlinear case in the space of integrable functions. Then, we propose a new version of the method in the nonlinear framework : we first linearize the eqaution by a Newton type method and then discretize the Newton iterations by the product integration method
