Viabilidade econômica de um sistema de produção pecuária de bovinos sob alta lotação: uso na pesquisa e na pecuária comercial / Economic viability of a cattle system production under high stocking rate: use in research and commercial livestock

Rinaldo Rodrigues 26 November 2010 (has links)
A study was carried out to verify the economic viability of a life-cycle production system of beef cattle under high stocking. This system was initially designed for use in research at the school of Veterinary Medicine and Animal Science, Universidade São Paulo, but this dissertation tried to evaluate the economic viability of this system when applied to commercial livestock. Therefore, ten scenarios were studied. Nine of them were determined by the variation of prices of products, use of own capital and resources from rural finance programs from Banco Nacional de Desenvolvimento Ecônomico e Social (BNDES). The tenth scenario was based on a predetermined level of prices of products and use of own capital, due to leasing of the area released from the intensification of the production system. The analysis method was the Cash Flow and the applied techniques were: Simple Payback, Discounted Payback, Net Present Value (NPV) and Internal Rate of Return (IRR). The system showed to be economically viable for the scenarios that considered the maximum projection of meat prices and for the scenario that considered the leasing area related to the intensification of the production system. Funding from BNDES Rural Credit Program has provided significant improvement in the monetary values and indices used in the analysis.

Sohaleh, Hamed January 2017 (has links)
Tough market situation from one side and global competition from another side are persuading companies to search for new manufacturing concepts and try to stay competitive. But “how” to consider “new” manufacturing systems is still a big question mark. This thesis aims to analyze reconfigurability as an enabler for competitiveness in manufacturing systems. The frame of work in this study is “Reconfigurable Manufacturing System” or briefly RMS. In first chapter, some background about reconfigurability has been stated. Then it will continue with research questions, delimitations and expected results. Then the research methodology and challenges for applying RMS have been stated. This chapter explains researchers’ method for data reviewing and data collection. Another focus area in this thesis is SME (Small and Medium size Enterprises). So this report tries also to examine reconfigurability challenges in SMEs. There is a big gap between “ideal” production system and “designing” of this ideal production system. So this thesis tried to increase the knowledge about design of reconfigurable manufacturing systems. In empirical study chapter two case studies have been analysed and as a result a list of challenges for implementing reconfigurable system has been proposed. Then some solutions and methods are proposed in order to answer to challenges. This solutions and methods are then discussed and evaluated. Finally, in last chapter, challenges and prerequisites for implementing reconfigurable manufacturing system in general and for SMEs in specific have been stated. This chapter was ended by expressing future works.

Nordin, Evelina, Sebila, Dervisevic January 2017 (has links)
Learning organizations in combination with quality management practices and continuous improvement are well known and have throughout the decades seen many successful implementations. Implying that there are assorted collections of tools, strategies and implementation techniques which are accessible for organizations today. However, what has been seen as a strong and contemporary inclination across many manufacturing industries is to develop and deploy company-specific production system (XPS) in order to obtain a competitive advantage in today’s global and changing business domain. The purpose of this explorative and qualitative study aims therefore to inspect and explore the occurrence of how a tailored company-specific production system (XPS) attempts to assist as an improvement program to contribute to the continuous improvement work and organizational learning in a multinational organization. The study includes a case study conducted at Volvo Group Truck located in Skövde and their tailored XPS called VPS (Volvo Production System). A review of previous literature was conducted and therefore included in order to provide an understanding of the topic as well as the empirical findings for further grasping of how a tailored specific XPS has benefited the company towards an enhanced improvement work thus becoming a learning organization. Interviews and documentation as well as observations from a previous internship at the plant in Skövde were conducted and utilized in order to obtain the employee's perspective on the contribution towards the continuous improvement work and organizational learning. Further on, in order to get a wide-ranging perspective on this matter, interviews were also held with persons with different positions within the plant. Findings from the analysis indicated that the difference with implementing a tailored company specific production strategy in comparison to other systems is that it aids the organization towards developing an organizational culture, which will further assist in enhancing the continues improvement work and organisational learning. Empirical findings also suggested that supporting functions together with XPS makes the transition towards the changes happening in an organization much easier. It also appears that the infrastructure of support with the tools and structures that VPS brings, is an important aspect in how the VPS assists in fostering continuous improvement work. Furthermore these tools, methods and structures are developed and designed to support and encourage every employee to think outside the box in a more creative and innovative way which foster employees learning process. The conclusion is that supportive functions together with a tailored XPS contributes to a joined organisational culture where improving and learning is a natural activity therefore fostering continuous improvement work and becoming a learning organization.

Souza, André Luiz Gomes de 27 February 2012 (has links)
Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior / The nutritional quality of vegetables is related to the management practices adopted in production systems. According to theory Trofobiose conventional production systems may affect the development of plants providing higher levels of free amino acids and soluble sugars making vegetables more vulnerable to attack by pests and disease manifestations by facilitating the availability of nutrients. The objective of this study was to evaluate the effects of production systems on conventional and organic compound levels of primary and secondary metabolism of lettuce groups Lisa Crespa and Americana. Groups of lettuce produced in organic and conventional farms were collected in the wild region of Sergipe in two production cycles. For each production system and cycle were collected 10 heads of lettuce Lisa Crespa and Americana. The data were analyzed levels of chlorophyll, carotenoids, total phenols, total organic acids, ascorbic acid, protein, nitrate, ash, fiber and soluble solids, determining the activity of polyphenol oxidase and phenylalanine ammonia-lyase. The analyzes were performed with five repetitions of each system and the production cycle. It was found in all groups lettuce than the conventional system can reduce the levels of bioactive compounds, and antioxidants, to the time which can provide increased levels of soluble solids. Lettuce American group showed the greatest effects related to production systems having a more severe nutritional quality and thus can be regarded as less suitable conventional production systems compromise by providing a greater degree of vitamins and provitamins. The organic production system contributed to the nutritional potential of lettuce groups Lisa, and American Crespa favoring the levels of bioactive compounds and antioxidants compared to those grown in conventional production system.

Ramborger, Bibiana Melo January 2018 (has links)
The present dissertation seeks, firstly from a theoretical review, to elaborate a recapitulation on the theme of the generational succession, encompassing the challenges and obstacles for the development of families in the rural environment. The objective of the research was to identify the conditioning factors that influence the existence of a generational succession in an integrated model of animal production in Vale do Taquari-RS, to characterize the relations between successors and internal and external factors through the Decision Making that influence the Generational Succession in the integrated model, to detect the limits and potentialities present in the relationship between integrator and rural properties for the contribution of the rural generational succession and to outline strategies for the strengthening of the rural generational succession in the poultry and pig integration chain. As a methodology, field research with information collection through semi-structured questionnaires was carried out on rural properties with successors and possible successors, as well as extra material to obtain information. Among the main results were found that the predominant profile among the respondents was of successors who returned the properties of their families to resume activities, as well as the high level of schooling and also the predominance of the male gender among the respondents. It was also verified the existence of intra-family dialogue for decision-making in choices related to ownership and production. In addition, some aspects of the views of the successors related to the production system that were inserted and the agricultural market as their market views were observed, the aspects that led to the continuation of the work performed on the property and its intentions to continue in the system and diversification of production on properties. The contribution of these discoveries to succession research revolves around the understanding of the socially constructed nature of the succession of property in an integrated production system, as well as the visualization of the most latent factors in this relation for the existence of the generational succession, and the suggestion of new procedures for the social care of these families that are part of the integrated contracts.

From Integral to Modular : A Case Study in Production System Development with a Simulation Perspective

Andersen, Erik January 2020 (has links)
In the pursuit of excellence industrial companies are increasingly employing production system development to rationalize their processes. One such approach that has been employed to great extend in the automotive industry is that of introducing modularity to the product design. This shift from integral products to modular ones, is associated with a higher level of standardization of parts and processes. However, researchers are still mapping out this correlation. As the connection between modularity and the recorded effects is still up for discussion, still fewer studies have been made on how to most effectively adopt modularisation. This thesis is therefore a research that explores the relationship between product design and production from a perspective of production system development. It is a collaborative study conducted with a manufacturer of industrial robots that is preparing to transition from an integral product design to a modular one. The case study utilizes discrete – event simulation to model the impact of such a changeover in the production system. Not resulting in a step-by-step how-to guide, the study nevertheless shows that discrete – event simulation can prove to be a valuable asset both when analysing what-if scenarios and when pinpointing pre-emptive measures in order to mitigate any negative disruption such a transition might initially bring.

Designing a company-specific Production System : Developing an appropriate operating approach

Meinhardt, Johan, Kallin, Dennis January 2013 (has links)
To boost operational performance and ultimately competitiveness, firms choose to develop company-specific Production Systems (XPS). Developing such production systems the management literature suggests that a XPS must be tailored to the firm operating context to yield full effect. This explorative case study examines how to design a XPS that provides an appropriate operating approach. Clarifying terminological confusion, the study proposes a XPS framework derived from the literature that encompasses three levels of operating elements - philosophical, principle, and practice. Investigating how to prioritize among these elements the study empirically validate the importance of tailoring firm operating approaches. In particular, categorizing practices as technical or socio-technical, and internal or external, the study contradicts existing research and posit that (1) socio-technical practices are a prerequisite for the adoption of technical practices and (2), practice classified as internal also have an external dimension. In addition, the results indicate that a XPS must evolve as contextual requirements and prerequisites change – thus making the design of a XPS dynamic. Finally, this study proposes a case-specific production system, tailored to the requirements of the research objects market-, organizational- and process context.
