Le journal télévisé pour enfants en France et au Royaume-Uni : l'enfant téléspectateur, l'information, l'actualité et la citoyenneté / Children's News Programmes in Great Britain and in France : The Child Spectator, Information, News and Citizenship

Brown, Claire 22 April 2013 (has links)
The following dissertation looks at the production of news programmes for children, through a comparison between the French news programme Mon Kanar (2002-2005)and the British news programme Newsround (1972-today). We specifically look atcultural concepts of childhood, and how thèse conceptions influence the longevity of aprogramme Inside a public channel’s programmation (France Télévisions and theBritish Broadcasting Corporation). We look at the child viewer’s projected imageInside the news programme, through not only the presenters and the content of thenews programme but also through the editorial team, the producers, the Children’sprogramme directors, the channel’s personnel, and through the controlling institutionslike the CSA, BBC trust and Ofcom.

Conflict and drought: is it a dual challenge? : A comparative case study of the challenges humanitarian reliefprogrammes in Mozambique and Zimbabwe faced during the 2016El Niño induced drought and conflict in Mozambique

Köhler de Castro, Carolina January 2017 (has links)
The number of people around the world who are affected by humanitarian crises has almost doubled in the past decade. For instance, in 2016, Southern Africa experienced the worst drought in 35 years, due to the weather phenomenon El Niño, and all aspects of society were affected. The aim of this thesis is to identify and analyse different types of challenges humanitarian relief programmes face in their disaster management in two different contexts: a conflict and a non-conflict context. The thesis combines both disaster management and peace and conflict studies. Interviews have been conducted in Zimbabwe (non-conflict) and Mozambique (conflict) with INGOs, UN organisations and donors that were involved in the humanitarian relief programmes in the countries during the El Niño induced drought in 2016. The programmes experienced various challenges, and additional challenges have been found in the humanitarian relief programmes in Mozambique due to the conflict. This thesis contributes to the existing theory with one piece of the puzzle: combining the theories on disaster management and peace and conflict studies and showing that neighbouring countries to those in conflict are likely to get spillover challenges from the country in conflict, primarily due to issues with refugees.

Utilisation d'un panel SNPs très basse densité dans les populations en sélection de petits ruminants / Use of a very low density SNPs panel for small ruminant breeding programs

Raoul, Jérôme 28 November 2017 (has links)
Breeding programs aim to transfer high genetic value breeding stock to the industry. The knowledge of molecular markers of individual’s genome and causal mutations allow to conceive new breeding program designs. Based on deterministic and stochastic simulations, the technical and economic benefits of using a very low density molecular markers panel were assessed in sheep and goat populations. Following results were obtained: i) using such a panel to increase female paternal filiations in case of incomplete pedigree is not always profitable, ii) a method of optimization has been used to derive the maximal profits of managing ovulation genes, and practical management giving profits close to the maximal profits have been determined, iii) at similar cost, a genomic design based on a very low density panel is more efficient than the current design based on progeny testing.

Inférence de la grammaire structurelle d’une émission TV récurrente à partir du contenu / Content-based inference of structural grammar for recurrent TV programs from a collection of episodes

Qu, Bingqing 03 December 2015 (has links)
TV program structuring raises as a major theme in last decade for the task of high quality indexing. In this thesis, we address the problem of unsupervised TV program structuring from the point of view of grammatical inference, i.e., discovering a common structural model shared by a collection of episodes of a recurrent program. Using grammatical inference makes it possible to rely on only minimal domain knowledge. In particular, we assume no prior knowledge on the structural elements that might be present in a recurrent program and very limited knowledge on the program type, e.g., to name structural elements, apart from the recurrence. With this assumption, we propose an unsupervised framework operating in two stages. The first stage aims at determining the structural elements that are relevant to the structure of a program. We address this issue making use of the property of element repetitiveness in recurrent programs, leveraging temporal density analysis to filter out irrelevant events and determine valid elements. Having discovered structural elements, the second stage is to infer a grammar of the program. We explore two inference techniques based either on multiple sequence alignment or on uniform resampling. A model of the structure is derived from the grammars and used to predict the structure of new episodes. Evaluations are performed on a selection of four different types of recurrent programs. Focusing on structural element determination, we analyze the effect on the number of determined structural elements, fixing the threshold applied on the density function as well as the size of collection of episodes. For structural grammar inference, we discuss the quality of the grammars obtained and show that they accurately reflect the structure of the program. We also demonstrate that the models obtained by grammatical inference can accurately predict the structure of unseen episodes, conducting a quantitative and comparative evaluation of the two methods by segmenting the new episodes into their structural components. Finally, considering the limitations of our work, we discuss a number of open issues in structure discovery and propose three new research directions to address in future work.
