[pt] O IMPACTO DA ESTRATÉGIA DE INOVAÇÃO NO DESEMPENHO FINANCEIRO: UMA VISÃO SOB A ÓTICA DO SETOR DE SERVIÇOS / [en] THE IMPACT OF THE INNOVATION STRATEGY ON FINANCIAL PERFORMANCE: A VIEW FROM THE SERVICE SECTOR PERSPECTIVE

RACHEL GONCALVES DE CASTRO 17 February 2020 (has links)
[en] This research aims to study how much a company s innovation performance, influenced by technological activities, skill of the workforce and external links, affects its financial performance, considering the impacts of innovation on cost and market. For this, the study used surveys with Colombian service companies, including commerce, carried out by the Colombia s National Administrative Department of Statistics. After the data treatment, there were 238 companies left that answered the surveys carried out in the period between 2012 and 2016. For the use of the database, a measurement model was developed with the purpose of validating the variables that represent each construct. Then, a theoretical structural model and some hypotheses were proposed and the tests were performed quantitatively using the multivariate technique known as Structural Equation Modeling (SEM). Research has shown that technological activities, skill of the workforce and external links have a positive relationship with innovation performance. Innovation also has a positive impact on market-related issues, but, contrary to expectations, it does not influence issues that affect cost. Finally, both market and cost impacts are directly and positively related to the financial performance of companies, as predicted in the model. Thus, the results of this research suggest that, for service companies to improve financially from innovation, it is necessary to invest first in technological activities, skill of the workforce and strengthen ties with external actors, impacting market-related factors through improved innovation performance.

Concepts and applications of quantum measurement

Knee, George C. January 2014 (has links)
In this thesis I discuss the nature of ‘measurement’ in quantum theory. ‘Measurement’ is associated with several different processes: the gradual imprinting of information about one system onto another, which is well understood; the collapse of the wavefunction, which is ill-defined and troublesome; and finally, the means by which inferences about unknown experimental parameters are made. I present a theoretical extension to an experimental proposal from Leggett and Garg, who suggested that the quantum-or-classical reality of a macroscopic system may be probed with successive measurements arrayed in time. The extension allows for a finite level of imperfection in the protocol, and makes use of Leggett’s ‘null result’ measurement scheme. I present the results of an experiment conducted in Oxford that, up to certain loopholes, defies a non-quantum interpretation of the dynamics of phosphorous nuclei embedded in silicon. I also present the theory of statistical parameter estimation, and discover that a recent trend to employ time symmetric ‘postselected’ measurements offers no true advantage over standard methods. The technique, known as weak-value amplification, combines a weak transfer of quantum information from system to meter with conditional data rejection, to surprising effect. The Fisher information is a powerful tool for evaluating the performance of any parameter estimation model, and it reveals the technique to be worse than ordinary, preselected only measurements. That this is true despite the presence of noise (including magnetic field fluctuations causing deco- herence, poor resolution detection, and random displacements), casts serious doubt on the utility of the method.

在WMN 網路上考量Intra/Inter-flow 干擾之多網卡路由協定 / Multi-Interface Routing with Intra/Inter-flow Interference (MiRii) Considerations in Wireless Mesh Networks

Liu,Tsai-Feng Unknown Date (has links)
WCETT(Weighted Cumulated Expected Transmission Time)metric / A new promising wireless technology has emerged recently, called wireless mesh networks (WMNs). WMNs are inexpensive way to provide wireless last-mile broadband Internet access and have all the advantages of ad hoc network, such as self-organization, self-configuration. Although WMNs backbone is similar to flat ad hoc network, mesh routers with multi-radio are stationary and have no power constraints. As a result, routing protocols designed for ad hoc network may not be appropriate for WMNs. The WCETT (Weighted Cumulated Expected Transmission Time) metric takes intra-flow interference into consideration, but does not capture inter-flow interference. LBAR (Load-Balanced Ad hoc Routing) calculates nodal activity and traffic interference for choosing a path, but does not supporting multi-radio. LBAR may be perform well in single-radio environment, but do not perform as well in multi-radios. Consequently, we incorporate a new Multi-Interface Routing with Intra/Inter-flow Interference in Wireless Mesh Networks, called MiRii. The simulations show that our routing protocol can improve the network performance including the Packet Delivery Ratio and average end-to-end delay.

Diversified query expansion

Bouchoucha, Arbi 06 1900 (has links)
Search Result Diversification (SRD) aims to select diverse documents from the search results in order to cover as many search intents as possible. For the existing approaches, a prerequisite is that the initial retrieval results contain diverse documents and ensure a good coverage of the query aspects. In this thesis, we investigate a new approach to SRD by diversifying the query, namely diversified query expansion (DQE). Expansion terms are selected either from a single resource or from multiple resources following the Maximal Marginal Relevance principle. In the first contribution, we propose a new term-level DQE method in which word similarity is determined at the surface (term) level based on the resources. When different resources are used for the purpose of DQE, they are combined in a uniform way, thus totally ignoring the contribution differences among resources. In practice the usefulness of a resource greatly changes depending on the query. In the second contribution, we propose a new method of query level resource weighting for DQE. Our method is based on a set of features which are integrated into a linear regression model and generates for a resource a number of expansion candidates that is proportional to the weight of that resource. Existing DQE methods focus on removing the redundancy among selected expansion terms and no attention has been paid on how well the selected expansion terms can indeed cover the query aspects. Consequently, it is not clear how we can cope with the semantic relations between terms. To overcome this drawback, our third contribution in this thesis aims to introduce a novel method for aspect-level DQE which relies on an explicit modeling of query aspects based on embedding. Our method (called latent semantic aspect embedding) is trained in a supervised manner according to the principle that related terms should correspond to the same aspects. This method allows us to select expansion terms at a latent semantic level in order to cover as much as possible the aspects of a given query. In addition, this method also incorporates several different external resources to suggest potential expansion terms, and supports several constraints, such as the sparsity constraint. We evaluate our methods using ClueWeb09B dataset and three query sets from TRECWeb tracks, and show the usefulness of our proposed approaches compared to the state-of-the-art approaches.

Adhezní řízení / Collateral Proceedings

Beranová, Andrea January 2016 (has links)
The doctoral thesis focuses on the part of criminal proceedings in which the court adjudicates the injured person's private claims which arose in connection with a criminal act (so-called collateral proceedings). The importance of collateral proceedings lies in the fact that by using it the injured party may avoid time-consuming, financially as well as procedurally demanding civil proceedings. However, the institute of collateral proceedings comprises a number of specific issues since a criminal court adjudicates the private claims of the injured party in compliance with substantive law rules being outside of the scope of criminal law (mainly civil law and labour law regulations) but, still, within the framework of criminal proceedings. The basic source of the submitted thesis is the Czech legal order. However, it is not the only one taken into consideration. The doctoral thesis also contains comparative analysis of legal regulation of collateral proceedings from the point of view of the German and Swiss legal orders. Following the analysis of collateral proceedings de lege lata, as well as the comparison with foreign models I am submitting proposals for the improvement of legislation that could be used in connection with the planned recodification of the Czech Criminal Procedure.

Motivationsfaktorer till investeringsbeslut i miljöcertifierade fastigheter : Hur inverkar olika motivationsfaktorer vid fastighetsbolags investeringsbeslut i miljöcertifierade fastigheter? / Motivators to environmentally certified property investments : How does different motivators impact on real estate companies’ investment decisions in environmentally certified properties?

Lundgren, Hanna, Gustafsson, Tilda January 2019 (has links)
The background of our thesis is the fact that properties and their related industry have a big negative impact on our environment. Since the real estate business is an important part of how the society is constructed, environmental solutions and sustainable real estate development can contribute to positive climate changes globally. The last decades have shown an increasing number of green properties, however the proliferation on the Swedish market is still slow. Existing research describes different benefits and motivators that should encourage investments in environmentally certified properties among real estate companies. Benefits that are established are for example lower energy- and maintenance costs, lower vacancy rate, an improved company image and increasing market value. We believe there is a gap of information considering how the real estate companies experience that these benefits are generated from a green building, as well as how motivators have impacted on the companies’ investment decisions. The purpose of this thesis is therefore to explain how different motivators affect real estate companies to invest in environmentally certified properties. To answer the purpose of our thesis, we have created four different hypotheses based on existing research which includes an improved result, increased economic profitability, improved company image and the opportunity of incentive programs and economic contributions. The hypotheses of our study have been tested with a quantitative method, through a survey. Collected data from our study has been analysed through a multiple regression analysis, where the four motivators have been analysed against the real estate companies share of investment decisions in environmentally certified properties. The conclusion of this thesis is that none of the hypotheses reached statistical significance and therefore the collected data cannot prove any relations between the motivators and companies’ investment decisions. Although, through our study, we have been able to identify both differences and similarities between theoretical claims and the result from our study. Even though statistical relations cannot be confirmed, the survey has collected descriptive data which contributes to a general view of how Swedish real estate companies today evaluate environmentally certified properties and how they are motivated to invest in these properties.

La responsabilité de protéger et l’internationalisation des systèmes politiques / Responsibility to protect and internationalization of political system

Mvé Ella, Léandre 11 December 2018 (has links)
From the perspective of international law, the responsibility to protect is traditionally analyzed in order to determine its normative scope. The attractiveness of the internationalist doctrine for the question of the normativity of the principle and the habitual indifference of international law to the political system of States ended up confining developments to the sometimes overly simplistic prisms of international law and international relations. This research intends to propose a different perspective by taking a contrary view of this classic approach. It addresses the issue of the responsibility to protect not only the point of view of third parties to the failed state, but also, and above all, the State itself and its population. It is therefore a question of revisiting the approach of apprehending the responsibility to protect in order to show that international law is no longer indifferent to the political systems of the States - let alone in crisis. In questioning the link between the responsibility to protect and the state's political system, the analysis leads irreparably to the conclusion that the responsibility to protect is “enshrined” in norms that are not exclusively legal and that currently analyze in the network. The study therefore proposes to define it as an norme de congruence since it leads to the assessment of the legal value of a rule of law taking into account the different influences contained in it

It is a proposal which can be considered a fertile alternative inside the qualitative investigation field, being a psychoanalytical method of operation strategy. Counteracting the point of view which considers the psychotherapies as intangible scientific experiments, this paper has its bases on the ethical and investigative perspective, according to which all clinical practices can be and must be examined according to its power to generate or not consistent benefits. It also demands that the terms used in the clinical efficiency researches be clear enough in order to establish the communication between psychologists, who refer to other theoretical and methodological sources, and professionals from other fields as well as the society. Methodologically, this study is realized through the Being and Doing Accompaniment Procedure of Psychotherapeutic Interventions and examining its usage, considering the clinical material produced from a scientific investigation, already published, independently conducted by other researchers. It can be shown that the clinical procedure is useful since it helps a comprehensive perception not only of mutative movements but also of any occasional difficulty that can be discussed. Therefore, it is settled an alternative to the clinical efficiency evaluation that, being as close as possible to the human event and the dramatic expressed here, is coherent with the psychoanalytical method and with the other qualitative perspectives which consider the human acting in terms of action and sense.

Contribuição da consulta de enfermagem na adesão ao tratamento do diabetes mellitus na estratégia saúde da família do município de Ribeirão Preto, SP / The contribution of nursing care to drug treatment adherence of diabetic patients in the family health strategy program in the municipality of Ribeirão Preto, São Paulo, Brazil

Cruz, Edna Castro da 23 February 2016 (has links)
This was a before- and after-intervention study, in which the subject serves as its own control, aimed to analyze the effects of intervention on treatment adherence and blood sugar control. The objective of the study was to evaluate the contribution of nursing care to treatment adherence of type 2 diabetes mellitus patients following the \"diabetes care protocol\" adopted by Family Health centers in Ribeirão Preto, São Paulo, Brazil. Data were collected between September 2014 and January 2015. The Research Ethics Committee of the Ribeirao Preto College of Nursing approved the study under ruling no. 648.970. From 31 participants with diabetes by way of three meetings with nurses, either at the health center or at home, with a month-long interval between appointments. We used an interview script to gather sociodemographic and clinical variables and gave participants a test to measure treatment adherence. Descriptive statistics and the Mann-Whitney test were used to analyze adherence during and after intervention; the Wilcoxon test was used for the before and after-intervention comparison; Spearman\'s Rank Correlation Coefficient was used to analyze the correlation between the numerical variables; and Cochran\'s Q test was used to compare tests before, during, and after intervention. Results showed that participants were between 33 and 79 years old, of which 58.1% were female; 71% had a partner; 83.9% had a family income of 1 to 3 minimum wages; and 80.6% referred to themselves as professionally inactive (retirees, pensioners, or homemakers). The mean education level was 5.68 years of formal education with a predominance of less than 8 years of formal education (67.7%). Regarding blood pressure values, stage 1 hypertension was detected in 25.8% of individuals with diabetes, and 90.3% had a body mass index indicating overweight. In terms of waist circumference, 32.2% of the men presented values greater than 102 cm and 45.2% of the women showed values greater than 88 cm. Foot assessment using 10g Semmes-Weinstein monofilaments indicated that 9.7% of diabetic individuals\' feet were at risk for plantar ulcers and showed reduced or lack of protective sensation. Time of type 2 diabetes diagnosis varied between 1 to 39 years, and the most prevalent comorbidities were high blood pressure (83.9%), dyslipidemia (58.1%) and obesity (41.8%). In terms of laboratory tests, 64.5% of the studied population presented levels of fasting blood sugar levels above 100 mg/dL, which fell slightly to 61.3% during the intervention, and were then maintained after the intervention. Postprandial glucose tests revealed that 45.2% of individuals with diabetes presented values equal or greater than 160 mg/dL before the intervention, falling to 38.7% post-intervention. In turn, the number of individuals with diabetes with postprandial glucose levels greater than 160 mg/dL increased from 54.8% to 61.3%. Regarding glycated hemoglobin, 61.3% of diabetic patients presented pre-intervention values equal or greater than 7%. During the intervention, this value fell to 19.3%, and after the intervention, 38.7%. Patients with values below 7% corresponded to 38.7% before the intervention and 80.6% and 61.3% during and post-intervention, respectively, with a statistically significant difference (p< 0.001). Diabetic individuals in this study presented an 83.87% rate of treatment adherence before the intervention, a percentage that rose to 96.78% post-intervention, a finding corroborated by the Wilcoxon test that showed statistically significant scores (p< 0.001) between pre- and post-intervention. This study emphasizes the importance of nurses as members of multiprofessional teams following the guidelines set forth in the \"diabetes care protocol,\" both in individual and group interventions, reorganizing work processes, and contributing to greater treatment adherence and blood sugar control by minimizing fragmentation and ensuring continuity of care for diabetic patients via a comprehensive approach
