Project Bonesheart : A concept design project / Projekt Bonesheart : Ett konceptuellt designprojektHåland, Joel, Höggren, David January 2016 (has links)
The report describes the thesis that the students along with the company Bonesheart made on agenre of motorcycles called cafe racers and its sub genres. It's a project about the procedures in the making of several design concepts for these kind ofmotorcycles. All the way from brainstorming to the final result. The report describes how the members of the project proceeded with the methodology they learntfrom their education and how they partly developed and established their own approach in thedevelopment of the motorcycle concepts.Because it is a genre of motorcycles that has not been affected by this type of work before, thegathering of information has been a big part in the beginning of the project.A survey was mailed to 140 motorcycle clubs, which gave the project a good starting point. It is critical for this kind of project that there is an understanding of the subject and that you cantake advantage of the knowledge gathered to get a good results. The results presented in this report have been designed from a design methodology that takesadvantage of several factors. For example, the restrictions given by the company that wasinvolved in the project and answers from the survey. With a wide range of sources to retrieve information, the result has been designed to whatbecame the concept of four motorcycles.

Adding Numbers to the SHIQ Description Logic - First ResultsLutz, Carsten 24 May 2022 (has links)
Recently, the Description Logic (DL) SHIQ has found a large number of applications. This success is due to the fact that SHIQ combines a rich expressivity with efficient reasoning, as is demonstrated by its implementation in DL systems such as FaCT and RACER. One weakness of SHIQ, however, limits its usability in several application areas: numerical knowledge such as knowledge about the age, weight, or temperature of real-world entities cannot be adequately represented. In this paper, we propose an extension of SHIQ that aims at closing this gap. The new Description Logic Q-SHIQ, which augments SHIQ by additional, 'concrete domain' style concept constructors, allows to refer to rational numbers in concept descriptions, and also to define concepts based on the comparison of numbers via predicates such as < or =. We argue that this kind of expressivity is needed in many application areas such as reasoning about the semantic web. We prove reasoning with Q-SHIQ to be EXPTIME-complete (thus not harder than reasoning with SHIQ) by devising an automata-based decision procedure.

Woodstar Extreme : Racerbil för rörelsehindradeEid, Josef, Svensson, Sebastian January 2006 (has links)
This report was written in the spring 2005 at Karlstad University by Josef Eid and Sebastian Svensson. The body will be light due to the glass fibre construction that will be used. The semantic demands of a classic sport car with a unique look were accomplished. The design’s aerodynamic features, with air inlet in the front and on the sides and air outlet in the back, have been approved. The racing car was presented with a digital model and animation and a plastic model.</p><p>Josef and Sebastian also manufactured the dummy for the body, which Woodstar will use to make the glass fibre bodies of. The manufacturing of the dummy took longer time then planed, due to the unnecessary polishing of dummy. The students took to much work on them selves (have been enough with a conceptual design of product), but due to their engagement they created their own conditions. During this project they had a lot of fun and learned many grateful things. Both students and the company had a great cooperation in this genuine and well made project.</p>

Simulating the G-forces of a rallycross trackGrandin, Ville January 2007 (has links)
<p>The purpose of this thesis is to design a motion simulator for a rallycross racing environment. The focus on the design is how to mechanically create the G-forces and to model them. After that is done the visually seen motion has to be electronically implemented into the motion simulator, creating as realistic as possible an experience for the driver. A program called Aprot is written in National Instruments Labview to handle the communication between the software simulator and hardware signals. Alot of focus is paid on how to represent the much larger G-forces that are experienced on a real track in the limited capacity that a motion simulator allows. For this purpose several formulas are proposed, all of which have their benefits. The simulation environment used is Racer, a well documented racing simulation that is still in development by the creator Ruud van Gaal. Aprot continuously reads specific data from a file in Racer and uses the formulas to form them into reference values for mechanics. Aprot also has a PID-controller, so that the piston positioning can be optimized.</p><p>The original plan of this master thesis was to use Aprot on a full-scale pneumatic or hydraulic prototype. However, due to time and money constraints, this was not done, leaving this work as a theoretical base on which to build upon.</p>

Developing a Modular Hydrogeology Ontology Extending the Sweet OntologiesTripathi, Ajay 08 August 2005 (has links)
Application of ontologies in the environmental science will allow experts in this field to model their domain knowledge for more efficient exchange and reuse. This thesis presents a modular approach in reengineering existing upper-level ontologies to conceptualize specific domain knowledge. The aim of extending these upper-level ontologies is to tailor and transform the existing conceptual models into new ones designed for the use in a specific domain in the earth sciences. This thesis extends the upper-level Semantic Web for Earth and Environmental Terminology (SWEET)ontologies to develop ontologies for part of the hydrogeology domain. The existing SWEET ontologies are developed by NASA’s Jet Propulsion lab for Earth system science (http://sweet.jpl.nasa.gov/ontology/). In the new model, presented in this thesis, the architecture and orthogonal design of the SWEET ontologies is not disturbed but restructured at certain levels. New concepts are added to the old structure and the consistency is maintained for use by other domains. This thesis discusses the useful steps, necessary tools and other procedures involved in ontological reengineering of existing upper-level ontologies. The hydrogeology domain modeled in this thesis by means of reengineering, exemplifies the reusability methodology for the Earth system science knowledge base.

Mažųjų dviračių kroso (BMX) sportininkų fizinio parengtumo kaita parengiamuoju etapu / The change of bicycle motocross(BMX) racers' physical fitness in the preparatory stageBiknius, Tautvydas 01 August 2013 (has links)
Literatūros apžvalga parodė, kad Lietuvoje atliktų tyrimų, analizuojančių mažųjų dviračių kroso (BMX) sportininkų rengimą beveik nėra. Todėl tampa aktualu ištirti BMX dviratininkų parengtumo charakteristikas, kurios būtų nukreiptos į specifinių fizinių ir funkcinių galių išugdymą.Tyrimo objektas – mažųjų dviračių kroso (BMX) sportininkų fizinis parengtumas. / Relevance of the research. The review of literature shows that there are almost no research works carried out in Lithuania on physical fitness of bicycle motocross (BMX) racers. Therefore, it is relevant to investigate characteristics of bicycle motocross (BMX) racers’ physical fitness in order to direct them towards development of specific physical and functional powers.
