Pace and variability in the badminton jump smash and the tennis serve

Miller, Romanda Nyetta January 2016 (has links)
Full-body three-dimensional kinematic characteristics were determined for the badminton jump smash and the tennis serve in order to investigate contributions to pace and variability. Kinematic (400 Hz) data were collected for a group of badminton and tennis players, using an 18 camera Vicon Motion Analysis System. Each participant performed 24 jump smashes or tennis serves. The best trials - maximal velocity with minimal marker loss - were analysed for each participant using a 18 segment rigid body model customised for each participant using subject-specific segmental properties. Parameters were calculated describing elements of the badminton jump smash and tennis serve technique as well as variability. The effect of these technique parameters on: speed were addressed using stepwise linear regression and on variability using one-way ANOVA. The results suggest that the fastest badminton players had a smaller elbow extension angle at the end of retraction, a larger wrist extension angle at shuttle contact, and a larger time between preparation and shuttle contact; that accounted for 84% of variation in shuttle speed. The results also showed that variability in the badminton smash was caused by differences in body placement, shuttle location on the racket at impact and movement timings. In the tennis serve, linear regressions showed that there were no variables significant to speed when players hit to the right and left centre court lines. When players hit in the advantage court trunk rotation at the racket lowest point key instant could explain 35.2% of the variation in speed, and when hitting towards the deuce court timing from the end of retraction to ball contact explained 33.6% of ball speed. The results show that there are differences in technique between the badminton jump smash and the tennis serves especially in the first half of the sporting actions.

Children and youth training in Padel. : Coaches perceptions of sport in the private and the volontary sector.

Söderström, Rasmus January 2022 (has links)
The overall purpose of this study is to create an in-depth understanding of how coaches for children and young people in padel reflect about being coaches in the private sector in relation to the non-profitsector. To answer this purpose the following questions were asked: How do padel coaches experience that their leadership and training activities are affected or changed depending on whether they are hiredby a private or non-profit client? What contextual aspects do coaches state as reasons for this? What are the advantages and disadvantages of each sector according to the coaches? The empiric data in this study was collected through qualitative interviews via Zoom with six different padel coaches across Sweden who practices in the private sport sector. The primarily results demonstrates that the padel coaches generally experience several differences between the private and the voluntary sector and that these differences are both complex and difficult to handle. Some of the differences are connected to areas like education, quality in training, economic and inclusion aspects. Additionally, it shows that these differences could have an impact on the padel coaches and their leadership, but it could also affect the children practicing this sport

Zavedenie nového športu padel v Českej republike / The introduction of padel in the Czech Republic

Ličák, Jakub January 2012 (has links)
This thesis aims to describe the proposed implementation process of the introduction of padel in the Czech Republic and to draw up a business plan to build the first padel centre in the Czech Republic called Padel centre Prague. The main analytical method is a detailed financial plan on which economic indicators of implementation of this investment project are quantified. Leading procedures for detecting data are questionnaire surveys, telephone query and also an estimate, which is used mainly in the analysis of the financial plan. The estimated average payback period for this investment is 3.2 years, while the real recovery of funds spent on the construction of padel centre should occur during the fifth year of its operation.

The most common injury location in padel tennis; damage occurrence and analysis of the relationship between gender, age and player level : A quantitative survey study

Al-Hadithi, Rania, Sigurdsson, Malin January 2023 (has links)
