Bergius, Johan, Ranhult, Philip January 2020 (has links)
This report will walkthrough several techniques and methods that have been used to create a new kind of web-based API. This new kind of API is called GraphQL and fullfils the same purpose as the more traditionally used REST API. What differs between these two types of API is that GraphQL uses a ”Query Language” when the user communicates with the API. The implementation is done in .NET Framework together with a company named Quicksearch. The development has been done within Quicksearch’s computer system and the API can request information from the company’s database and send it back to the user of the API. The tools that have been used to develop the API are Visual Studio as the development enviroment, along with the programming language C#. Postman is a software that have also been used to help develop and test the GraphQL API. Relevant methods used in the development includes libraries directed to create a GraphQL API and libraries used to create the connection to the database. Design patterns have also be important in the development and the most noticeable ones have been ”Dependency Injection” and ”Model-View-Controller” to create the application. The end result is an API that is able to recieve simple queries directed against a simple data-model or object. Aditionally a comparison between GraphQL and REST have been done and the result is that there are distinct differences between the two types of API but there is a lack of scientific reasarch and knowledge to make the conclusion of which is the better alternative and additional tests are required.

Barns dygnsvila : Samspelet gällande barns sömn i förskolan / Children's daily rest : The interaction regarding children's sleep in preschool

Stubin, Anne-Maria, Karlsson, Camilla January 2021 (has links)
The aim of the study was to highlight children's sleep, mainly how long children sleep at preschool but also how long their total daily rest period is. Furthermore, we examine the collaboration between guardians and educators regarding children's sleep. What we wondered was whether sleep could create a conflict between guardians and educators. The questionx that we posed were: What does children's daytime napping looks like at preschool? How do the educators treat the parents regarding the length of time that the children are allowed to sleep during the naptime? What does the knowledge of children's sleep looks like? The method we have used to collect information is a survey; one for educators who are active with the preschool's youngest children and the other for guardians with children between one to three years old. During our study we have used phenomenographic theory and analytical methods; we have also had a social constructivist approach. The answers we received during our survey shows that there is a lack of knowledge about children's sleeping needs among many of the educators and guardians. Knowledge varies and many people believe that they know what is best for the individual child, which we will explore in our analysis and results section.

Exploring the quality attribute and performance implications of using GraphQL in a data-fetching API

Wikander, Daniel January 2020 (has links)
The dynamic query language GraphQL is gaining popularity within the field as more and more software architects choose it as their architectural model of choice when designing an API. The dynamic nature of the GraphQL queries provide a different way of thinking about data fetching, focusing more on the experience for the API consumer. The language provides many exciting features for the field, but not much is known about the implications of implementing them. This thesis analyzes the architecture of GraphQL and explores its attributes in order to understand the tradeoffs and performance implications of implementing a GraphQL architecture in a data-fetching API, as opposed to a conventional REST architecture. The results from the architectural analysis suggests that the GraphQL architecture values the usability and supportability attributes higher than its REST counterpart. A performance experiment was performed, testing the internal performance of GraphQL versus REST in a use-case where its dynamic functionality is not utilized (returning the same static response as its REST equivalent). The results indicate that the performance of GraphQL implementations are lower than that of its REST equivalents in use-cases where the dynamic functionality is not utilized.

A Study of Rest Period, Hardiness, and Bud Development of the 'Concord' Grape

Weeks, Mervin Gayle 01 May 1977 (has links)
The length of the 'Concord' grape rest period was evaluated during 1974-75 and 1975-76. Cuttings were placed in a 25 C growth chamber every two weeks from October through April. Number of days to reach 50 percent full bud swell was plotted to determine rest completion. Seven years of weather data and full bloom dates of 'Concord' grapes from Prosser, Washington were statistically analyzed to give another estimate of rest completion. Rest was terminated after about 830 chill units. During 1974-75 and 1975-76, T50 temperatures were determined every two weeks for both cambium and primary buds of 'Concord' grapes. The cambium ranged 2 to 10 C hardier than the primary buds. The T50 temperature pattern correlated with the minimum ambient air temperatures. Cuttings, collected and placed in growth chambers, were analyzed for both optimum and base temperatures. Optimum bud growth and development occurred at 25 C. The base temperature of first noticeable bud development was approximately 4.4 C. Bud phenological stages were followed both years and a standard set of pictures of representative stages was compiled. The growing degree hours (GDH) from end of rest to first bud swell through full bloom to maturity were determined. A regression line was plotted between the various GDH requirements for the percent soluble solids acquired during the 1975 and 1976 seasons. The GDH accumulation and soluble solids were well correlated with an r2 value of 0.95 percent.

Webbteknologier inom industrin – Utbyte av gamla system: REST API vs. Microsoft Access

Olsson, Björn January 2022 (has links)

Improving the accessibility of API documentation for non-technical users

Marinosci, Gabriele, Shchadrynski, Ratmir January 2023 (has links)
Software documentation is one of the most important aspects of the software development process, as it allows the transfer of knowledge between individuals, regardless of their background and their technical knowledge. In particular, Application Programming Interfaces provide the basic structure for the communication and integration between different software systems. Therefore, providing solid API documentation is fundamental for the software development process as it represents one of the main learning tools for developers trying to learn new technologies. While researchers have studied the fundamentals of good API documentation design for over twenty years, most studies only focused on the point of view of developers. However, with the rising amount of companies offering Software-as-a-Service products, it has also become important to produce documentation that is accessible to people with limited technical knowledge, i.e. customer representatives.  In order to fill this research gap, a case study was conducted in collaboration with a software company. By using a design science approach, this project focused on creating an API playground environment where users could interact with various APIs offered by the company. The results were evaluated through a questionnaire for user feedback and with an interview conducted with developers from the company. While the outcome of the evaluation was positive, the limited scope of the project prevented some important aspects of API documentation such as navigation from being thoroughly examined, therefore more extensive research is needed in the future.
